i dun tink there is a need for interpreters because even though singaporeans speak singlish, we know how to translate it ourselves and it is not as if we don't know english.

Singlish is not a language in its own right. Nowadays its just INTENTIONALLY bad English (purposely spoken with a heavy accent) with Hokkien and Malay words/expressions in it.
Also Singlish is not limited to Singapore, a nearly identical "language" is spoken in Malaysia as well, for example.
I believe its called a Creole or something like that.
