  • @tronclay: it's not allowed to put them directly into the water because they need to know the way how to get back to the beach. 20 years later they'll come back to lay their eggs on this beach.

  • if you are going to interfere with them and point them in the right direction, why not just put them in the water?

i swear people will do anything to say they helped the environment

  • omg so cute:)

  • hi from Australia! :)

im going there next week 4 a holiday, any advice on what 2 see and do???

its my first overseas trip, thanks

  • Hi,

Zakynthos is lovely. You have the very quite beach areas of Kalamaki where the turtles lay their eggs, to the real busy party night life in Laganas.

Its been a few years since I was last there, but turtle watching from a glass bottom boat is a must! Just make sure its a decent size boat.

Smugglers Cove is also really nice to take a boat trip to & do a bit of snorkling. Everywhere you go in Zante offers different trips, so you'll have to shop around. Let me know what you think.

  • Yesterday i came back from Zante :)I'm thinking of be a volunteer next year! Turtles are lovely!

  • i found one washed up on the beach last year. it was baking in the sun and looked dead. after looking at it closely we noticed it moved so we put it into the sea and eventually recovered. hope its alive! that made my holiday. that and a few tremors. i'll be back there in 4 days time.:)

  • leave the baby's alone, they need to inprent how to come back when they're great! what were you doing on that beach at that time, it's not allowed between 7 and 7 to go there anyway!!!!! Let nature go, and let the capable volunteers (like me) will help in the right way.

  • Who ever left the message about leaving the turtles alone is a idiot. If you had any sense you would have noticed they were hatching during the day and getting dried out by the heat of the sun. If you look closely as well, you would have also noticed only one person was touching them with gloves on... who was a volunteer (like you!) and was pouring sea water on them to help them. It may be better in the future to look first and ask polite questions rather than type out brainless dribble!

  • You're right! So, sorry for the comment, I had to look with more patient. Hope you accept my apologizes? Bye and keep the good work up!!

  • i was there!...they're unbelievably cute XD
