The cool black dude bass player is now working at a scrap yard in south east georgia; I asked him if the band was ever getting back togeather and he laughed as if he knew I knew (he still has dread locks and doesnt' seem to have aged a day) or maybe he is identical twin separated at birth. This was and still is one of my fav. group of 90's and it was so complete
@limabeanz24 I'm glad to hear that one of the best of the 90's bands is togeather and bands such as "Big Sugar" have a lot of admirers all over the states also who recognize what innovative rockers they were with a very diverse song book;consider yourself a fortunate son(or daughter) if you make one of current gigs. It was Gary on bass I made the comment about and even though I saw the comments about recent gigs I couldn't resist making the comment. Thnks for getting back
@blastforyou i had to laugh when someone from such a good band works at a scrap yard. i would pay alot of money to see them again. it is up there with trooper and april wine in concert cant think of who was better
This group is back together, have a new album coming out this spring/summer and are starting to play more concerts before their big one across Canada to support said CD. A really underrated Canadian band that's great live (and LOUD!) Gordie Johson is right up there with the world's top rock singers, guitarists and songwriters! Let's support them and spread the word globally this time!!!!!
Saw them in Belleville Ontario back in the summer with a bunch of other bands. They blew the place apart! Can't wait until this weekend, Seeing Gordie Johnson with his other band Grady at the Red Dog in Peterborough Ontario. Best entertainment you can get for $15!
@macpatty13 Saw them last Sat. in Burlington @ The Legendary Red Rooster, ears were ringing all day Sunday... Ear plugs might be handy to bring along ;)
@pkmusic64 they are together saw them live about a month ago at canal fest in lockport ny freakin great band live!!! extremely lound yet still clear they played for nearly 2 and a half hours and hung around after and met thier fans!!!!!~
yes, different song....i jumped the gun on that....thanks for the correction. but they use the same blues lyric sample. "The Lyrics go "If i had my way, If i had my way, I would burn this old building down"
This is actually a cover/rip off of a blues song from the 40's or 50's.
The beginning of this song on the album version actually samples the original. The Lyrics go "If i had my way, If i had my way, I would burn this old (whole?) building down"
great band from dirty old windsor, its prolly what gives em their edge, kelly hoppe still plays in windsor downtown at the aardvark on tuesdays, great entertainment for no cost!!!
Great band, met them few occasions, got pictures, autograph, nearly stole Gordie's OJ...but that's another story altogether..Mr. chill joins Grady whenever they're in town (london, ontario)
Love the ringing guitar in this song. Gordie sure knows tone and how to play with feeling, unlike those little techno-metal boys. Plus he mixes in acoustic guitar!
I saw Big Sugar at the Jube in Oshawa about 8 yaers ago. Geordie came out and hit the first notes of Where I Stand, and I think half the poeple in there went deaf. I had to tear pieces of fabric off my shirt and stuff them in my ears. Awesome band. There is something about Geordie's hip demeanor that reminds me of Morphine's Mark Sandman. Like he is so damn cool that you want to dress like him and look like him. Wearing all black Hugo Boss threads will make anyone a badass though.......:P
BIG SUGAR WAS THE SHIT!!!!! IF I HAD MY WAY>>>>... YEAH!!!! too bad...like they say...all good things come to an end...glad i got all their albums while i could

klae11, you are absolutely right and what is really cool are bands like Steppenwolf who came out from the Toronto area and for those who are not sure who they are, listen to songs like...Born to be Wild and Magic carpet Ride, now they will know. Then The Guess Who,BTO,Neil Young you name them.
Also,it is undertsood that rock began with the Blacksdown in the southen U.S.A,BUT...internationally,
