I'm so glad I came accross Fixed gears in my life. Riding feels amazing, although you do get some fucktard drivers around these days especially in the city.
@Bmxicznmzn Yea i hated fixies and thought they were gay now i own a expensive fixie setup- Frame-Volume Cutter V5 Forks-Allcity Cranks-Primo Rims-Velocity Tires-Speedy Arrow HAHAH So Shitty Tires Bars-All City Grips-Oury Seat-Dunno Peddles-Primo HeadSet-Haro LOL
no hate against you. just gettin real tired of people thinkin they are badasses, yah know? half of the fools who talk shit on youtube would prolly shit themselves if confronted on the street. do you ride in the city?
Good song, but those dirty hipsters need to get helmets and lights. I ride fixed in SF and every other week I see these dumb-ass-tight jean-wearing-ipod-emo-hipster-douche bag fuck themselves up in all manner of ways... Be it a failed track stand or plowing into a car... eh.. Darwin rules
deng all of this negativity being thrown around about this vid. why? so people like fixies, so what? people dont gotta talk shit, to try to make themselves feel like theyre better than everyone. and i bet all the haters havent tried riding fixies; riding with your friends, seeing different happenings in your city, its fantastic, instead of worrying about if you'll look like a fag or not, worry about what feels good to u. if it dont feel good, dont do it, u dont gotta hate on other ppls hobbies!
I am not a believer of cake or its followings. I personally hate cake. But now we have an agreement, unless of course you feel we must debate onward.
please type in english, or properly in any language. then i will respect your entitled opinion on music. do you know what opinion means? it means youre not right and youre not wrong. it is an opinion. you think its gay, go ahead voice away, but you cant call people gay for liking a certain type of music. thats retarded. get learned. grow up.
Normally I would rag the hell out of a vid like this, but frankly... I'm tired of hatin. Having read the previous posts about the positive aspects of bicycle trends and their effect culturally and environmentally, I'm changing my narrow minded view of fixies and ceasing my tirade against said trend.
Having said that: What do you call a fixie rider without a bike?
That's true. hopefully ppl stick with it and use bike more in the long term. ironically though, a big part of a lot of "hipster" fixed riders' image is smoking and binge drinking.
even if riding "fixed gear " is a trend its a good one.. more people are riding bikes less people driving cars and its making cities change their thoughts about cyclist in general. In other countries.. the bike is a way of life.. its just blowing up alittle different here but its having a lasting effect on our culture.
Its annoying.. hipster" bs. i ve been riding bike since i was a little guy, now its a way of life for me.
While you may be correct that riding fixed is a trend, and it does have bad side effects, like too-low handlebars, bad seat tube angles, etc. Riding fixed is incredibly fun once you're used to it, and I've seen quite a few people go from hipster to fixie-hipster to cyclist in less than a year. Who knows how long it will last in them...but here's hoping. Cycling is fun as hell, gets you outdoors, makes you strong. So it's easy to hope that people will keep it up.
Well I'd say from a personal point of view I'm enjoying it, as well as thousands of others so... yea.... it's cool if you want to try it out... I mean I doubt someones going to jump down your throat just for riding a F'ing bike...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's not about jumping down anyone's throat it's about keeping it real. I did try it out- from ages 5 to 9 and then I got a freewheel with one break. You're not a track racer nor are you a avid cyclist trying to improve pedaling tachnique. So why ride a fixie? becuase it's a trend, and a dying one at that.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you want cleaner lines go for a single gear and one brake. Being an avid cyclist, people ride fixies for track racing and to improve pedaling technique. Not for everyday use and especially not in san fransisco, it's way too hilly. Did I mention TREND!
I am an avid cyclist (No car. Half million miles. Cat 3 road racer, Club president; road and TT champ. First place "non podium" state road champ finish). My fixie is for everyday use and light touring. The geared road bike is for road racing. The road bike has no function for everyday riding or training which would just chew up the bike needlessly.
I started urban and dirt road riding on a fixed wheel; and I'm considering not being a "chainy" again. It only makes sense.
Why are people rating this dude down? Coaches have been forcing their roadies to ride on low geared fixies for a long time. It forces a rider to spin like hell down hills, and allows you to build your hamstrings in a few different directions, rather than just the bottom 90 on a freewheeling bike. People discard the benefits of training on a fixed gear bicycle, but lots of great all-rounders (merckx, indurain), and basically all the great road sprinters trained on fixed gear bikes very often.
It is a trend. A mountain bike with a fixed gear? Why, it's harder to jump and go down trails. Basically it's harder to Mountain bike! It's just rediculous. Single gear is fine, but a fixie mountain bike?
Great Divide Race, Canada to Mexico off road, crossing the continental divide back and forth several times, the first rider to do it on a fixie was actually in second place one day out of Mexico. Two gearies had to ride through the night to pass him while he took his last sleep of the race.
why did people thumbs down this? I ride a fixed gear in the city so I'm not a roadie hating on this being a "trend," but the above comment is completely true.
