Lane one did make a big difference. I'd say about the gap Canada won by. I would've loved to have seen this race in a better course. Don't get me wrong, Canada was a medal worthy team in Prague, but I hated to see the German youth get robbed of what they deserved.

The reason China and Philippines kicked butt was there light boats which weren't dragged down like most other countries were.

Over 1km Lane 1 was worth at least 1 maybe more boat lengths and over 500m was probably worth close enough to 1 boat length.

Or its called Strategy .. plus the deeper water wont give you a 1/2 boat lead sorry ,.. we did just kick ass .. and the sand bar you hit it was actually us washing You OUT :) sick race tho!

Probably but it's not like we had a choice of which lanes we raced in. Plus, IIRC neither China nor the Phillipines had lane 1 when they kicked butt in the 200m.

It`s easy to win, when lane 1 is deeper then all the other lanes.
