  • im not being funny but every horse is unoredictable so what if she "forgot" to take her foot out of the other stirrup deal with it, the horse wasnt in oain was it? no.

  • i take both feet out of the stirrup then swing my right leg over. it's fast, easy, and you wont get drug if the horse takes off and you fall.

  • My friend did this too for like 5 minutes. But it was a merry-go-round horse. I'm quite embarrassed of him. lol :P

  • @OhYouWhore I take my foot out of the left stirrup. if the horse takes off and you still have your foot in the stirrup then your in trouble.

  • So proud of my wife!

  • ummm i didnt learn to take both of my feet outta the stirrups....oh well idc how much safer it is i ride unbroke and greenbroke horses all the time and the way i dismount hasnt made me hurt myself...*knock on wood*

  • @pittbullsrock i was taught both feet out.. i think it more incase if a horse takes off you dont have one foot left in the stirrup but its personal choice... i find it much easier both feet out

  • @OhYouWhore you can take your left foot out of the stirrup. its safer because if the horse were to walk off, you wouldnt be dragged

  • poor horsie :( riding schools should get a wooden horse with a saddle and bridle to teach pupils to mount and dismount correctly- thumbs up if yhu agree (?)

  • @OnTheBitPonies i totally agree with you!! Some of those poor horses out there that have idiot riders who have no clue what they are doing. Riders need to be trained properly before they go out on a horse.:)

  • @OnTheBitPonies I never got taught that and I've been to 3 riding schools and 2 people that owned horses? Oh well, maybe it's just where you live?

  • haha beautiful!

  • You're not supposed to dismount like that...I'm not being mean, I'm just saying, that the way you dismount from an English saddle is by taking both feet out of the stirrups...then slide to the right until you're at the point where you're laying on your belly in the saddle, then hop down on both feet. Thats the way I learned & I feel it's the safest & proper way. (:

  • @XXHarryPotterDorkXX i live in america and i do that :]

  • okay.....???

  • that happened to me 2! and to the USA people in the UK we have to take our feet out both stirrups and then just swing off.

  • how was that unsuccessful? she got off and ended up on her feet lol who cares if it didnt look pretty im guessing there wasnt much experience behind it

  • when you ride english most people dismount that way so whatever floats your boat!

  • @horseluvr06 both feet out of the stirrups was how i was taught. its hard at first but now i fly off the horse.

  • @DragonHeart956 lol whatever works for you! thats how i get off too

  • @horseluvr06 haha yep. i've tried it with one foot in the stirrup and found that harder. i've also learned how to dismount like that on a slant because of the terrain at my ranch:)

  • @DragonHeart956 lol thats how western people do it!

  • @horseluvr06 hahaha the first time i tried to dismount on a slant and i fell:) then my horse looked at me like i was an idiot:)

  • @DragonHeart956 lol sounds funny...omg...one time i was trying to get off really fast and i couldnt get off on the left side like normal so i got off on the right and fell cuz there was a huge rock there and my horse started walking away lol and started dragging me along! good times getting off horses

  • lol thats how I do it most of the time :D

  • i dont know much about english rideing i have ridden it before but not very long and i got off of the saddle like a roding or barral saddle but are u supposed to slip off like that on a english saddle(remeber i have ridden english 2 times so i dont know much about it

  • it was ages ago when u commented but with an english saddle you take both feet out of the stirrups, lean forward, swing your right leg behind you to the left the when your right leg is straight you straightly and gently slide down the horses side on your tummy! lol xx

  • Wait what? lol

I don't think there is really a "right and wrong way" (to a certain extent lol) of how to dismount English vs Western. I sometimes just slide off my horse's butt (if I'm being lazy haha) or sometimes I'll be really coon and grab his neck and swing down (mostly when bareback), but usually I just take both feet out of the stirrups and swing down haha

I think the worst way is when your horse falls and you go flying across the arena lol

  • ye ur right there! ahhhaa! xx

  • Its probably the least fun and most painful way to dismount too! XD

  • there is a red numnah!!

geese its not that hard to see!

and its not a saddle pad because saddle pads are squared.

its a numnah because it is the shape of the saddle!

  • there is a saddle pad on that horse, its a shaped one, look closely

  • i looks like they might have a saddle pad on him

  • i thik u should use a saddle pad...the leather rubs them

  • There is a saddle pad :)

And the leather doesnt rub the horse if the saddle fits properly, the job of a saddle pad is to protect the leather from a horses sweat.

    :)

  • not what my trainers say

  • Apparently your "trainers" are idiots. Go talk to some saddle seat riders and/or get some new trainers. Saddle seat does not use pads because, like Zy135 said, the saddle doesn't hurt the horse if the saddle fits properly and a pad is to protect the leather of the saddle.

Also, there is a pad, it is maroon. It is the shape of the saddle, look right in front of the saddle.

  • actually, i ride with one of the top trainers in the area. one of their origional riders was 4th at USET finals this year. so think before you speak. is this saddle seat? no. well if thats a saddle pad, its way too small.

  • why do ppl always say slip out of the side XD its moreleft ur leg up and grab on

  • u really need to use a saddle pad...

  • not really...

  • there is one on there if you actually look a little harder.

  • i take both feet out and slide off, feel that way its much safer, but thats my opinion, in case he were to get spooked or something.

  • I Put The Wrong Comment On The Wrong Video So I Spammed It.

  • Im Sure Most People Take Both Feet Out But Shes Messing Around Really So I Dont Think It Matters.

That Was Good But Try And Bend Your Knees More When You Land.

    You Should Try Vaulting..

  • Yeah, many ways to dismount, so basically...

THERE'S NO ONE RIGHT WAY FOR ANYTHING HORSE-RELATED!

I've been taught a variety because of my moviing - in Ottawa it was drop to the ground and then bring out your other foot, in WA it was both feet out and slide off, and NOW in B.C, Canada, it's one foot in, swing your leg over (foot still in stirrup 1), and then slip your foot out and slide to the ground.

  • You May Have Been Taught To Different Ways But I Totally Disagree.

  • I ride in the US and we always take bothe feet out in case the horse takes off you don't get your foot caught and drug. Safe practice.

  • Same In England.

  • yea i live in the US 2 and i have 2 do it.

  • I have to do that to and i live in the US so its easier on the withers.

  • if you take your foot out of the stirrup first its wrong in the US [where i ride] But where u live i guess its right? lol that was funny though =]

  • do you ride western?? I've always seen western riders do that but english riders do both feet out then down??

  • Its because the western saddle has a larger cantle (back to it), and on a english sadle you lean forward an swing you leg back and across... I tryed to dismount with one foot in the stirrup on the english and twisted my anckle... Just difference of tack i suppose. :)

  • thats bc in english u can twist ur ankle and rly hurt urself! western its different

  • ummm getting off english there is no way you can twist your ankel... you take your feet out of the sturrips and swing your right leg over and hop down... its quick easy and safe... whereas in western dismounts your foot is still in the sturrip as your coming down...

  • I dont take mine out and I ride in the US...

  • beginner?

  • Im prettyt sure most ppl at pony club and stuff take both feet out of the stirrups its a safety hazzard incase ur horse decides to take of or you get on the ground and cant get the other foot out and horse takes off. its just that you learn fowards and the swing the other leg over then slide of

  • Yep. I Agree

  • Yea, that's how we dismount here in Nc, Us too... both feet out. lol!

  • Yeah I ride to and we always have to dismount with both feet out of the stirrups well that's the way it is in Germany

  • In the UK, you are instructed to take both feet out of the stirrups as standard practice, apparently it is safer (although i know there are many ways of dismounting...)

  • Indeed it is safer, and it is also more comfortable for the horse because you are not pulling sideways on his withers.

  • @cjflix yeah that's what we do in Minnesota

  • @cjflix Actually, you're instructed to do that in the States too, so I don't know what this person is talking about...The reason it didn't work was because the rider didn't pull her right leg over the horse's hindquarters.

  • @cjflix Owned.
