  • hi I can't install blacktrack just after booting at get a message saying that the kernel rquiers an x86-4 CPU but only detected an i686 cpu

  • gave bt5 3000mb and 10gb hard drive

  • Thanx dude!!!

  • YOU TALK TOO MUCH

  • Mine says "This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU." Please HELP!

  • hi dud, all that tip goes right, till tryning to install permanently BackTrack:

Just missed several hours waiting and nothing ( preparing the particions), did i miss some step to get it right?

    please, help me...

PS. i just be able to download BT5, is that the problem? all things run right, just need some help to install!

    Regards

  • @kreytonn

    forget it, allready solved!

    thanks anyway

  • @kreytonn with BT5 it takes a long time to finish the install.. it might hang at 99%, but just wait it out, no matter how long it might take. the larger the hd you chose, the longer itll take. the reason for this is that the percentage bar isn't accurate with virtual box.

  • @learnhowtohack thanks, but i find a way to solve that, simple as keep a swap space. My noobiess sometimes kills me, lol... but now runs as well

    thanks one more time

    Regards

  • works with 5 too

    but BT5's image is 2GB

    FUCKING 11 hours OF DOWNLOAD!!!

  • Where did you install vmware from?? the website? or from a torrent?? You should download the free vmplayer from their main website and then download the vmware version of BT.. it'll run without a problem.

  • I tried to download VirtualBox Window host but it was giving me all kind of scary warnings, so I stopped. Is it normal?

I downloaded BT5 Gnome 32 ISO on a usb flash drive but I'm stuck here. I tried VMware player with BT5 wmware but couldn't make it work. Uninstalled VMware and it's screwed up my keyboard. Managed to fix error code 39. That's why I'm warry of the warnings trying to dl VB.

    Please advise.

  • @azneagledog hey, you may need to go into network settings in virtual box and change it to either NAT or bridged depending on your network setup.. then go to shell and type in the command dhclient eth0

  • Great video :-) Thank you :D

  • hi! thanks for the video... i followed every instruction that u said... successfully installed backtrack in my virtualbox.. i unmounted it and run from the hard disk but what happened is that it asked for a backtrack log in and a password... how can i run the backtrack now?

  • Can anyone give me a short summary how to install VirtualBox/BackTrack 4 in a windows xp computer. My WiFi Adapter RealTek RTL 8187 doesn't make contact.

Command: lsusb results in: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 80ee:0021 VirtualBox USB Tablet+Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

No RTL 8187, which is usb-connected to my computer. (And connected to my internet modem. This works).

  • @learnhowtohack @TACTIK1 go into devices->network adapters choose bridged adapter then select your wireless card from the name selection. click ok.. go into the shell and type in "dhclient eth0" without the quotes and it should set you up to work.

  • @learnhowtohack thanks for your reply but nothing happend with my internal wireless card so I took a long deep breath to get more information on google and what is the answer to my litle problem....well backtrack installed on a virtual machine dont work with internals wireless cards only give you internet like a ethernet connection only work with usb wireless cards on a virtual machine (Virtualbox)

  • @TACTIK1 hmm, you're right, I have a usb wireless adapter. Can't really help you.. what I would suggest.. at least this is what I did..,. before I get a new wireless card I make sure it is compatible with Backtrack.. they have a big list somewhere on the site.

  • @learnhowtohack Thanks a lot bro! but I didn't think that bactrack was a litle special lol....thanks again to take a litle time to answer.

  • hey man! thanks for the video, just wanna ask you some questions. why is it when i downloaded the bt4 final it only contains around 1gb capacity while your bt4 is 1.46? do you think it is corrupted? cause when i boot it in a usb it went directly to busybox mode. pls help.

  • @rahj8786 did you download the right version? the beta release is around 900mb but if you download the final release, then itll be 1.46gb.. also do you have enough disk space? another reason might be that you stopped the download before it was complete and only have a part of the file.

  • thanks,, now i get it.. it is corrupted cause i redownload it and it works fine.

  • fuken crackers!

  • i dont get the cd/dvd rom option

  • what version of virtual box are you using? what os?

  • @piero2bp

Mines didn't have CD/DVD ROM options either I found a way around it.. just press Storage and in IDE Controller you'll see Empty and it looks like CDRom click that and on rightside CD/DVD Device: click folder and pick your backtrace.ISO

  • Could you make another video showing how to get backtrack to talk to your wireless card?

  • well its different depending on what wireless card you are running. if you are running it in virtualbox then it should have no problem using your current wireless card.

  • @learnhowtohack

first, luv ur account name LOL.

    ok, down to business.

I got backtrack for under iso boot on virtual box, yet, wireless is screwed and cant use internet? help?

  • backtrack has internet disabled by default for security purposes. you'll have to enable it.

  • yeah, to get the wireless working you have to go to K Menu, Services, Network, Start Network

  • thanks

  • how come you did not get a login or pass word if so what is the log and pass

  • if it asks for login info it'll be username root, password toor.
