I was reading a comment that sayed all the bodybuilders at someones school were short. I believe that is just bad luck. I have been bodybuilding for about a year now, and have grown 4 inches since I started.
Hey guys. I was wondering, I'm 19 now and do light workouts atm but when I was younger I did a lot of heavy weight and did take pro-hormones. I seem to have stopped growing about 5 10", which I'm not too worried about my mum is much shorter anyway. But my shoulder width is quite small, does this usually change with age? I ask because a lot of my friends have small shoulders but then you look at some guys my age and they look more developed, more like an adult.
Well no offense m8 but you're quite short so you shoudldn't expect to have big shoulders only from growing... A male stops growing around the age of 20, and you probably wont grow much more so you should do shoulder exercies with slow reps with 3-4 series (10-10-8-8) and you should have 5-6 hot meals per day, for your height i would say 2500 calories or so would be more then enough (~500 per meal) and try to get up mass. If u will put on weight also your shoulders will eventually look and be big

My only dilemma is that im terribly unorganized and have a bad workout regimen thats pretty random. If you could find the time, could you give me your workout regimen for monday-sunday? dont diet when you are that age. it will give problems later on and stun your growth. fill up with carbs (mostly good ones) and dont care if you get a little flab. its better to loose that when you get older. learn from my mistakes.

There is actually a greater risk of damaging the endocrine system system of a teen, since it is still developing as puberty progresses. If a teen takes steroids the development of the endocrine system system could be stopped prematurely and permanently. At that point a teen could very well be llooking at the prospect of never making testosterone naturally again. Which brings ona whole host of health problems. No sex drive or even ability to have sex.
Where were you Scooby when I was in my teen years back in high school? If only I could travel back in time and take these tips with me then I would've been a lil more taller oh well 5'9 is my height though.

i think you should do some of your own research, especially about something your putting in your body and dont even know if its good or bad for you. On a side note. Look up what whey protein is and the answer should come pretty fast....
Yea, but you still grow until you are like 22-23, just not as fast. But in my familty everyone was a bit late with growth, thats why im worried. supplements are creatine hormoines and anything else for working out other then protein.. i mean if protein stunted your growth u couldn't eat meat or nuts or fish...ect

no protein is not a supplement that stops u from growing. most things u eat have protein anyways like meat, eggs, milk and so on...protein is used to build muscle and doesnt stop ur growth cuz ur getting it in natural ways anyways. he means dont take testosterone boosters or creatine products till u stop growing.

When you are working out, the muscle has to work against the weight you put it trough, he does that by growing. When it grows your muscles has tiny tears/rips and those are filled with proteines.
Long say short - Proteine helps you to grow muscle

casset, i say do one workout a day if you have that kinda time on your hands. you can divide up your groups by 6 or 7, 5 if you rest two days. or you could do what i do. work out two days and do everything, and just run the rest of the week

Glad you mentioned steroids. I see alot of vids on you tube of kids in their teens who are obviously doing steroids with the titles portraying them as something real special. I look at them and just think they need some counseling on what self worth is all about. I also notice that alot of them look alot older than they really are, Don't know what that's about. gyno is the result of estrogen build - up. If you want it to go away you going to have to do more than lose fat. At 17 youre still at puberty. Just ride it out and it'll go away eventually.

the average american eats almost 3x ~ 5x the amount needed of protein in a day. Protein shakes are almost useless and it's harder for your body to break down protein in shakes then in real food so a lot of that protein goes to fat.

when i was 13 i started doing push ups and sit ups regularly it did not slow my growth. when i was 15 i started heavy weight training like bench press, squads and deadlifts, thats when my growth slowed. i saw all my friend who were many inches shorter than me all of sudden grew taller and thats when i realized my growth was stunned. I stopped lifting for 1 year and my growth resumed and grew 2 inches in 1 year. so my conclusion is, if u do heavy training, yes it can stun ur growth.
What Scooby reffers to in this video is STRENGTH TRAINING, not BODYBUILDING or POWERLIFTING --> There IS a difference! AFAIK, deadlifts and quads are considered POWERLIFTING.... Read the web page Scooby cites: it does recommend strength training (the bodybuilding's younger brother), but it doesn't recommend powerlifting or heavy lifting... Also Scooby says the same thing in the video.
Scooby What about the growth spurt? Doesn't that occur during the prime of a teen? I never got my growth spurt. I may have grown like an inch or 2. Maybe it's genetics.
Im 27yrs, 5'10", and 160lbs. Ive been workin out for a few weeks. Here's the problem, Im naturally skinny yet I have a gut (Gods sense of humor lol). I want 2 try to gain weight/ muscle but also lose my stomach.
I do a lot of ab workouts and i know i need 2 get my body fat down but im worried bout doing cardio because I dont want to loose anymore weight. Im not sure what 2 do. I ran a mile yesterday and was going 2 try 2 run everyday b4 my workout but would that hurt more then help?
I think you need to 1) listien to scooby and if he has advice for your problems in any of his videos listien to him before anybody else. i have the same problem. i would reccomend from my personel experience to 2) eat better, consume many calories but stay away from the fatty foods. Do cardio, but don't do an enourmus amount. Eating is the more important part to me, as long as you do some cardio the gut will go away soon but you shouldn't loose weight.
When i ran, i was mostly running for shape and cardio, not to loose weight. I ran a 5k twice a week and did cardio interval training three times a week. A mile a day sounds good to start, keeping in mind that running isn't the only means of cardio, which scooby explains in another vid. It may be hard to loose the gut without loosing much extra pounds. What may happen is you drop weight and fat through eating healthier(which scooby can also explain) Then slowly gain back weight, just not as fat.
My advice offering is limited, considering i decreased my running a while back, in hope of gaining some weight, since i have always been very skinny. I can't say that i have problems with excess fat, and being skinny.I do think that in your case the fat needs to go whether you get a little bit skinnier for a time period or not. I can guess that in your case the fat collected in your gut over time, so when you gain back the weight to not be so skinny, be cautious that it doesn't go back in thegut
i see scooby's been playing around with some video programs. he's really invested in this thing .. there's one more thing that stunts a teen's growth, DEATH.
have you hear of this thing called the Contour Abs Core Sculpting.? its a belt around your waist that contracts your abs together to make it feel like a crunch. do u think it works?

Glad you mentioned steroids. I see alot of vids on you tube of kids in their teens who are obviously doing steroids with the titles portraying them as something real special. I look at them and just think they need some counseling on what self worth is all about. I also notice that alot of them look alot older than they really are, Don't know what that's about. I do cycles every once in awhile but didn't start until my mid thirties.

well im happy that lifting weights wont stunt your growth but im still hoping it does'nt do anything cause i have alot of tall friends that are like 6'1,2,3 and there only 16.I know im probably gunna be strong but i dont want to be a short strong guy,im 14 and im only like 5'8 1/2.

gyno is the result of estrogen build - up. If you want it to go away you going to have to do more than lose fat. At 17 youre still at puberty. Just ride it out and it'll go away eventually.

the average american eats almost 3x ~ 5x the amount needed of protein in a day. Protein shakes are almost useless and it's harder for your body to break down protein in shakes then in real food so a lot of that protein goes to fat.

No, I'm 15 and I'm 185lbs and 5'10 I workout A LOT no problems here, I use Creatine and 6 star protein shake mix and I feel healthy then ever before.... less then a year ago I was pushing 240lbs of fat at 5'8 so ah... and I think I might be 5'11 now so ahh please no bullshit, excellent video scooby; you look ripped as always! :D Keep up the good work bro \m/ !!

i need some help ive got creatine but im not shore how to use it on the box it says take overload > 4 scoops for 5 days

when i was 13 i started doing push ups and sit ups regularly it did not slow my growth. when i was 15 i started heavy weight training like bench press, squads and deadlifts, thats when my growth slowed. i saw all my friend who were many inches shorter than me all of sudden grew taller and thats when i realized my growth was stunned. I stopped lifting for 1 year and my growth resumed and grew 2 inches in 1 year. so my conclusion is, if u do heavy training, yes it can stun ur growth.

What Scooby reffers to in this video is STRENGTH TRAINING, not BODYBUILDING or POWERLIFTING --> There IS a difference! AFAIK, deadlifts and quads are considered POWERLIFTING.... Read the web page Scooby cites: it does recommend strength training (the bodybuilding's younger brother), but it doesn't recommend powerlifting or heavy lifting... Also Scooby says the same thing in the video.

Im 27yrs, 5'10", and 160lbs. Ive been workin out for a few weeks. Here's the problem, Im naturally skinny yet I have a gut (Gods sense of humor lol). I want 2 try to gain weight/ muscle but also lose my stomach.
I do a lot of ab workouts and i know i need 2 get my body fat down but im worried bout doing cardio because I dont want to loose anymore weight. Im not sure what 2 do. I ran a mile yesterday and was going 2 try 2 run everyday b4 my workout but would that hurt more then help?

I think you need to 1) listien to scooby and if he has advice for your problems in any of his videos listien to him before anybody else. i have the same problem. i would reccomend from my personel experience to 2) eat better, consume many calories but stay away from the fatty foods. Do cardio, but don't do an enourmus amount. Eating is the more important part to me, as long as you do some cardio the gut will go away soon but you shouldn't loose weight.

When i ran, i was mostly running for shape and cardio, not to loose weight. I ran a 5k twice a week and did cardio interval training three times a week. A mile a day sounds good to start, keeping in mind that running isn't the only means of cardio, which scooby explains in another vid. It may be hard to loose the gut without loosing much extra pounds. What may happen is you drop weight and fat through eating healthier(which scooby can also explain) Then slowly gain back weight, just not as fat.

My advice offering is limited, considering i decreased my running a while back, in hope of gaining some weight, since i have always been very skinny. I can't say that i have problems with excess fat, and being skinny.I do think that in your case the fat needs to go whether you get a little bit skinnier for a time period or not. I can guess that in your case the fat collected in your gut over time, so when you gain back the weight to not be so skinny, be cautious that it doesn't go back in thegut
