oh look! another staged fight. were the same damn thing happens over and over again just like ever other karate vs grappler fight. the karate guy would give the grappler a leg or would let the grappler run into him.. common sense would tell u to back off and let the grappler play your game, thats karate, not this shit. hell i don't need to know shit and i could stay away from a jujistu guy. lol. its called being elusive. this is all FAKE to make money.
hey guys, did I misunderstand this video, or did the karate guy do a lunge at the bjj guy? that doesn't' seem like true karate to me.I didn't see any attempt at a side kick from the karate guy either.
a grappler can force a striker to the ground. a striker cannot force a grappler to stand.
once you're on your back, you're in my world... and there.... muay thai does not exist. any movement you make at all puts you at risk of something getting broken, hyper-extended, or just ripped completely out of socket. even muay thai boran which has some ground game, still doesn't compare to BJJ.
Funny, Mas Oyama did the same thing to promote his style of Karate over other striking art forms. The Kareteka in this clip looked very weak; not enough makiwara training perhaps?
FYI: BJJ did come from JUDO; JUDO came from Kigoro Kano who studied several different Jujistu styles.
You can read up on a good history of BBJ, in Mastering Jujitsu, by Renzo Gracie and John Danaher; tells alot about the style and the history; also a intro to some BJJ techniques.
And yes, technically speaking, the flow is Jujitsu > Judo > BJJ; BJJ being an improved form of Kosen Judo also known as Fusen Ryu Jujitsu. There was a challenge fight between the Fusen Ryu School and the Kodenkan. Refer to challenge fight between Tanabe (Fusen Ryu) and Tobari (JUDO), circa 1890's
Of course anyone who really knew Hapkido, Kung Fu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi, Cantonese Nut Slapping, Pottery, Fencing, Boxing, Dim Mak, Dragonball Z, Yoga, WWE, or Aikido would NEVER lose to a BJJ guy!
i got to disagree with you there i do both hapkido and bjj and i find if someone's using bjj i find it hard to defend agaisnt using even the trust kicks!!but just me perhaps
in a real fight, you dont get to take your time and establish your base on top of him,you dont know, your opponent's friends are probably on their way. and when they see you on top of their friends, they kick your brains out. just KO him and go!
Yeah, but the gracie's are pissed that other people are making money off of it, by simply calling it brazillian jiu jitsu. And since the Gracie's are nut riders, they tend to lose a lot now!

Another thing. Mr. Karate didn't even punch when Gracie closed the distance. He flinched. That shit's weak.

First off this is carlson gracie. He even says it's him in the video. second strike fighters will never dominate grapplers unless it's shear luck.
thatoldskoolkid33 3 years ago
That's Rorian Gracie fighting. The old guy who is watching when they cut away is Carlos. Carlson's father.

it's Jigoro Kano O' sensei
judo comes from jiu jitsu
and bjj is a modification of traditional jiu jitsu
don't forget that kimura beats helio gracie

Oops! My bad; Jigoro Kano O' sensei.
Thanks for the correction.

Please don't let this escalate into a JUDO VS BJJ LOL argument. They are both worthy arts with different focuses; ground game and grappling game.

Indeed! And, good to cross-training in both arts.
