  • Such a killer performance!!Probably my favorite year for zeppelin, plant still had that loud blues voice and the rest of zep are so great!!FInally got me this bootleg of the whole show at the fillmore west in san fran, this is a definite must for any zeppelin fans!Great great performance this whole show. They need to come out with this bootleg digital remastered on cd with a book pages describing this show and put it in stores for people to be able listen to this wonderful stuff like it deserves!

  • ok seriously, can SOMEBODY tell me where I can find this song in its entirety in mp3 format!? I've been looking for it for the past year or so now and I know it's out there somewhere because I've heard it on 107.7 the bone and it was some top notch studio quality.

  • This song is fucking killer!

  • wow this song was way ahead of its time

  • people.... click on to part 2...... its awesome

  • freakin hell. need to devote even more of my life to scouring u tube for diamonds like this. we needs a zep tube.

  • nobody has better better voice cracks than robert. 3:21 YES!

  • Anyone want to trade Zep Bootlegs let me know. I am still burning to CD. Sorry I am old school been trading for nearly 21 years and have a huge collection of all sorts of stuff. Only like 6 Zep shows. would love more. I have stuff like: Kiss Ozzy, Maiden, Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, slayer Manowar and tonds more. Hit me up!

  • @varockcity1 Dude if u want bootlegs find a flea market u can get anything and usually 4 a couple of bucks

  • @bigbob8me - Or just search around the internet. It's "out there" somewhere, you just have to look for it.

  • give me a time to ponder

and i'll turn it to stone

give me the pile of this world

in the palm of your hand

  • Garnet Mimms' "As long as I have you" @3:09 and Spirit's "Fresh Garbage" @4:35. Brilliant

  • Greatest Rock n Roll band of all-time....PERIOD...End of story...This interpretation of the Mimms classic is so raw and primal....I had goose bumps listening to it... Thank God for the mighty Zep....and thanks to whoever is preserving these priceless slabs of music......They will be listened to and copied forever and ever...... RIP John Henry Bonham...

  • is this their own song or a cover?

  • would love to have sat in on every rehearsal session..can only imagine how they pulled all their shit together..epic is hardly the word.

  • was this the old elvis song

  • This is from the "Jimi Page Experience" bootleg

  • There isn't another band that comes close to this degree of intensity and variety. The Rolling Stones seem absolutely tame by comparison. The thing about them is -- I feel that they really peaked here! I mean I've been a Led Zeppelin fan since 1976 but this is like finding this hidden treasure that reveals they were even better than I thought they were -- and just as they were getting started!!!!

  • Just fantastic shit.....Plant has said that his Zep wailing ruined his voice.

All in the best possible cause, Percy.

  • and thanks

  • which bootleg is this? venue? it's very clear. I got this song by Led Zep on about 6 boots but not in this quality!

  • one of my favourite songs but no record/cd

    :(

  • @olliescrazy4ever There are any number of browser add-ons which will let you save this clip to your computer, as well as convert it to mp3.

  • This band never fails to amaze me!!!!

  • HAIL to the burnin´ Zeppelin! HAIL to Jimmy´s fuzz box on that record! May the spirit of ´69 survive the times! I truly regret I didn´t live back in the day.

    -a bootleg addict from Austria.

  • jimmy page is the best

  • the best guitarist

  • These early zep shows were simply amazing! i have three different versions of this song and they all are astounding.

  • This is AMAZING, thanks for posting.

  • lol everybody requesting plant songs... and he saying ok we will do it 0:21.... wow... when zeppelin was just starting as a little band.... and look now at today... lucky the ones who had the pleasure to see their first concerts, in which you could say hi to them, or talk to them....

  • Hendrix was a huge influence..... both led zepellin and the experience sounds so similar... with their live blues.....

  • Sounds like Bonham must of crashed the drum set before this song.

  • @sczepp

yeah, Bonzo used to smash his drum kit quite often.

it is said, he always had two snare drum rols behind the stage, in case of damaging the one or the other ;)

  • I've got this on a bootleg tape that I bought back in the early 90s. I'm glad you put it on youtube to help preserve this awesome performance. The raw power in these live Zeppelin performances is utterly thrilling!

  • So damn heavy!!!

  • This is great, never heard this take before. Real jamsession almost. One of the greatest bands in the history no doubt. Real good edition -:) - Eddie

  • Wow! Plant had some serious power in those vocal chords in 69'. Shame all the touring, smoking and age made it less so as years went on. Crazy that they start with this song without having Plant warmed up to sing so hard. (notice his voice cracks at 3:21). Regardless, this is the Hammer of the Gods.

  • Happy Birthday!

  • thank you for posting this.

this is pure awesome this is zeppelin at its best in my opinion

this is a real jam session

  • Okay, I know this was well before Stairway to Heaven, but as Jimmy's plucking away at 1:22, waiting for the snare drum problem to be rectified, I hear what seems to be the embryo of StoH's opening notes...does anyone else hear that??

  • @LedPeplum Think he plays a bit of Davey Graham's "Anji" then does a bit of their opwn version of "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" both of which are based around an A minor shape - which is maybe where you're hearing the "Stairway" echoes.

  • @OldTomCoffin I noticed "Anji" immediately, and replayed it twice to make sure!

  • Fantastic. Never heard this before. Incredible that this isn't on an album. Their side jams are better than most bands best song. Thank you for putting this up! I love how every member tears into their parts but still in total unison. The only other band I've seen do this was Soundgarden in their live Come Together journeys. They roll off into their own riffs and BAM! back on time with magical timing.

  • i love how Robert is so calm when it comes to people shouting and stuff. he doesn't yell or anything, just very laid back replies.

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing this!

  • is there any way to just get this audio to put on my ipod?? anybody?

  • bryan7551 you may use the "Free you tube to mp3 converter" programm.

  • i did had it but my FUCKING SISTER

sorry still raging delete that and 1500 more songs

would have helped you buddy sorry

  • Woah! That is pretty unusual. Why don't you suck a fart out of my asshole.

  • lol...

  • Your so cool

  • your name is next great guitarist yet you didnt know that 0:30 secinds its called harmonics

  • @Ch33ky360 i knew that :30 was harmonics, i meant at 0:33. It is a trick i use to make sure my guitar is tuned

  • its not a trick its a standard way of knowing your strings are tuned together but not to a specific key

  • not really a trick since everyone, including jimmy page apparently, uses it.

  • @Ch33ky360

haha wannabes want can we do about them man

  • Is there anything better than this?...Hmmm, I don't Fucking think so!!!

  • They should go into the studio and record this with Jason.

  • @jdg62269

No they shouldnt. Led Zeppelin should leave their legacy alone and be happy with it. Plant understood this and we should be grateful to him for not wanting to tour with Led Zeppelin and to Page and Jones for having the class not to go on without him.

To be fair, this is an absolutely kickass song though and Page should release an album of all the unreleased bootlegs digitally remastered or something.

  • we had a bool last night. Iove it when he says that.

  • @mapscannotcontainme - That would be absolutely impossible because there are TONS of them...enough to fill hundreds of cds. No joke.

  • Winterland 69? One of the most outrageous versions of Dazed and Confused. If they would only clean it up!

  • Pure genius, this sounds more vital now than ever!

  • where did you get it then? :O

  • I bought it from a bootlegger from Japan in the '90s. Nowadays, all you have to do is google led zeppelin live to peruse purchasing around 200 shows.

  • huh which album is this? Never heard this before :O

  • This song was never officially released on any albums and was only played in concert in 1968 and '69.

  • @1Bluesboy1 thats because its a garnet mimms cover, and spirit cover. of course that didnt stop them from releasing led zeppelin 1 haha. i wish i had the mp3 of this version, its, in my opinion, the best. thank you very much for uploading it. i work out to it its great :)

  • @samuelshepard - I grew up enjoying the British Invasion's covers of the old blues artists and then discovering all the great songs of the blues greats during the 1960s. I used to have the Garnet Mimms cd just from this Led Zep recording.

    Enjoy and play it Loud.

  • @1Bluesboy1 we do a cover of these covers to start off our live sets now. there is no way you can make this sound bad! check out our band 'pheta morgana' if you get a chance, i write all of the stuff and was VERY heavily influenced by jimmy page and almost only him. he's always fresh and never boring.

  • @samuelshepard ya this is my favorite probably to I wish they would come out with this song on a official cd....I swear I need to be in charge of all those live albums

  • @rocker70sman yeah i dunno why they dont release them ALL. they're all pretty old now, what're they waiting for?

  • @samuelshepard Thats what Im saying!!! They have all this amazing shit on and wont officially release it...im telling you if I was in charge i'd be making bank

  • @rocker70sman

it´s all about Jimmy Pages descision. So, as he officially released their 1970 gig in Royal Albert Hall on LZ DVD set, he didn´t take "Hearbreaker" into the set, cause of the recorders´ break down during the guitar solo. He couldn´t overdub that section. As I listened to that song the very first time, I astonishingly was blown away. I noticed the break down during the solo, nevertheless that song is pure Zeppelin on their best! But Page unfortunately didn´t take it on the release.

  • @samuelshepard use free youtube to mp3, from FreeDvdVideoSoft (.) com, u can download the sound from any video to mp3 format

  • @Piclemania it doesn't work it just takes me to a blank internet page :(

  • @samuelshepard look it up on google then

  • theres whiskey a go go and fillmore west... but what is this one?

  • This is Fillmore West

  • ah thanks

  • jams!

  • ahhaahaa there telling them what set to do this is old! aha

  • This is very nice music.

  • Just dug out my Zep boot discs. It's on a boot called 'Through The Years 1969'. This version is 16:59. I will work on getting it posted as I haven't seen this one on YouTube as yet.

  • On the other version I was refering to Bonham's drums are quite loud and stand out in the mix if that would give any clue as to what the date, lication may have been. Because as I say, I have it but the details aren't marked on it.

  • I do enjoy this version but there's another 15+ minute version that IMO rocks quite a bit harder. I think it may be an earlier recording. The boot disc I have doesn't list the date. Bonham is insane and all over the place wild on the version I'm talking about. Long Spirit influenced interludes, tons of feedback in sections etc. Very chaotic but listenable.

  • I love how they stretched this song out, all the versions I have are like 18 minutes long.

  • Great song! I wish they would come out with a live album with this song on it. Do it Jimmy!

  • robeter plant is the cooooooleessttt!!

  • Led Zeppelin are THE BEST!

Realize it or not, released or not.

  • It was in Paris, in the early nineties, that I bought the bootleg with this version included. Among all 200 LZ bootlegs (yes, I am a fan indeed) this song and 'No Quarter' on the Destroyer bootleg are my favourites. This is the real thing!

  • Song includes -

As long as I have you - Fresh Garbage - Bags Groove.

This song was played 10-12 times, this is the most jamming version IMHO.

  • I love this!! Always an extra-special treat to hear some zeppelin that i previously hadnt heard! The beginning reminds me of "Green Manalishi" from the Peter Green days of Fleetwood Mac. thanks!!

  • Wow!! 4-27-69. This puts them back in the Filmore West SF. Their 2nd US tour in 5 months and 6th time at the Filmore West. What was the exchange between the audience and Plant? What's amazing is how hard Plant could push his voice in the early days, it was as if he could do what ever he wanted. Pretty much night after night too, sometimes two shows a day. Thank you for posting this, who's tune is this anyway? lol Page almost starts in with Bouree by Bach, which there's a tape of.

  • It's an old Jerry Ragovoy / Bob Elgin (early '60's)tune made famous by soul and R&B singer Garnet Mimms in 1965. Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters had their biggest hit (1963) with the old Janis Joplin cover Cry Baby.

  • I forgot to mention, Jerry Ragovoy is a record producer / arranger and songwriter.

  • In 68 - 69, Plant (being only 20 - 21 yrs) was still developing both physiologically, and in his training(learning) to control his voice. Consequently his voice "screeched out" at times earlier on. By 71 - 72, he was at his PEAK ability in terms of the HIGHEST end of his range. Yea?

  • No doubt, Plant cannot be topped, what a set of pipes. I love Steve Marriotts voice too but THESE guys were from another planet. I read that these early concerts would go for hours cuz the audience wouldn't let them go! About Plant's screeches, he was leaving nothing on the stage and they actually fit perfectly for me. I'm so glad he left nothing in the tank cuz it's gone now and what he left behind will be listened to by every serious singer till the end of time. Led Zeppelin 4-Ever!

  • first of all small faces rock and second of all he probably lost his voice because he pushed it so much in the early years. and led zeppelin 4-ever!

  • @tomitstube Amen my brother ! \m/

  • @tomitstube

To me, Plant's voice changed after the fourth album. Beginning with Houses of the Holy, he had none of the power he had before.

  • @AnthonyStJames ~ totally agree. i have no idea what happened, probably bad technique and physical abuse led to robert's voice going. plus he never left anything in the bag, it was balls out all the time.

i'm just glad we have what we do. flight of icarus with robert's voice. I thru IV. very few get that close to the sun.

  • True that.

    179 SHOWS in just 15 months (starting Sept 7, 68, to Dec.6, 69).

Then right back at it for a run of another 45 SHOWS in 3 months (starting Jan 7, 70, to Apr.23,70)

Notably, they took MAY off, and this is when PLANT first took PAGE to the cottage, BRON-YR-AUR, in South Wales.

  • Fucking Amazing! "Is that a going away present?" Yes! Yes! Yes! It is Robert, it is! God I love this band...

  • he says that because someone threw a joint on stage to them

  • J'adore....

dommage que ce concert n'existe pas.... sous forme de CD

  • This is amazing! Thank you so much! I Love this version. Do you have anything else from this show that is not up already?

  • I'll go look and see which songs from this show aren't up yet and start putting them up one by one.

  • One of the hottest versions I've heard. Great clip, thanks!

  • I'll try to get Pt. 2 and Pt. 3 done in the next couple of days.

  • very good, thanks for posting it. Nice to hear Plant's early voice and its awesome power.
