@1988scottcarey In a sense, the Statue of Westminster gave all of us autonomy simultaneously and it wasn't the first place to be called a dominion (Virginia, New England), but it was the first internal federation within the British Empire.
at 1:30, something interesting to note: Not only did loyalists go west, they went south into what is modern day Virginia, North/South Carolina, etc...and in 1861 they rebelled against the U.S and formed the Confederacy in what was known as the U.S Civil War. The Confederacy sought help and recognition from Britain but it never came. It would be an interesting thing to see, had Confederacy won their independence, they may have become like Canada, and possibly a commonwealth.
@SpeedLimit14 loyalist did go south to Virgina, the confederates were also against England but they wanted their help. they had hopes in being in the commonwealth
