Jeff Gordons a prick and he deserved his punishment. Robby did the old bump and runm and if it were the other way around, all the JG fanboys would be saying it was the bump and run.
@f1fan112 Jeff didn't deserve this. He's an awesome racecar driver, and he had a right to be upset. Robby fucked up his right front bumper. Robby's the prick, not Jeff. Besides, Jeff has 4 championships to Robby's zip. Jeff has 85 wins to Robby's 3 wins. Jeff has 9 road course wins to Robby's 2. Furthermore, Jeff's better. Besides, what harm did payback do to Jeff? He already clinched the title that year.
jeff did the same thing to rusty in 2002 at bristol. when jeff does something its just "racing". but when someone does something to him they suck? lots of them jeff gordon fans act like everybody should let jeff win. hypocrites
Watching this for the first time since it happened, Robby easily could have waited and probably could have passed him legitimately. I have no problem with the contact itself, but the timing was questionable.
oh yeah even in 2001 robbie thought he was hot shit... how many cups and wins does jeff gordon have? 4 and 84... how many for robbie 0 and like 2... he sucks balls
@thunderbolt3597 And you're saying Robbie hasn't done anything impressive in his career?
3 time Baja 1000 winner (note that, 1000 miles)
4 Dakar Rally stage victories
7 SCORE International championships
And lets not forget, Robbie is always someone to look out for whenever either Nationwide or Cup come to road courses. Simply judging him by his Sprint Cup records doesn't hold water.
@RickyRay102 Are you a fucking idiot? You're on a NASCAR page, people are talking about....NASCAR! No real surprise you're talking about all his accomplishments outside of NASCAR. No one Gives a damn if he can drive in road courses in NASCAR! They only run around six road courses every year! Just shut up you dumbass. If he's such a good driver, why does he have to own and sponsor his own car in NASCAR? Hmm?
@cpcomedy314 Way to miss my point completely. Thunderbolt implied in his comment that Robbie sucked as a racing driver in general. But when you factor in things like the fact he won a 1000 mile endurance race that takes place in a desert three times, anyone can see that is a huge crock. As much as I like Jeff, I'd seriously would love to see him try to race all 1000 miles, in the blistering heat, (cont)
@cpcomedy314 in an event that has had history of sabotage and booby traps, while keeping his truck intact and at optimal operating condition. And drivers have a hard time keeping the fenders on their cars in a 350 mile race on an asphalt road course.
No one gives a damn about being able to drive on a road course? So I guess thats why NASCAR goes to road courses in general then. I guess thats why some people say that road course racing is, and I quote "the true test of driver talent".
@cpcomedy314 As for his team, Richard Childress actually asked Robbie to stay, but he turned the offer down. He started his own Sprint cup team completely on his own accord, not because he had to. Sponsorship? Ever considered one of the possible reasons is that the economy is in the crapper?
@RickyRay102 From what i understand, you think road courses are the true test of driver talent, while robby gordon can get top 10s easily on them. Although, he can barely even get top 20s on ovals...
@thosepeeps1234554321 I actually think it's debatable, because there are F1 guys that are clearly talented that struggle on ovals but excel on road courses...when the ovals are supposedly much easier. Thats why I said "some people" and not "everyone" when it comes to thinking that road courses are a true test of driver talent.
The reason I brought it up was to retort cpcomedy's point where he said "No one Gives a damn if he can drive in road courses in NASCAR".
@thosepeeps1234554321 It can also be pointed out that there are some drivers who excel on ovals that struggle on road courses. But still, my point remains that Robby, as a racing driver in general, has shown that he is capable of getting the job done.
if jeff didnt try to get payback and just fall in line like 4th or 5th he could have won the race or finished second there would of been like 14 to go and jeff had the fastest car he could have went by these guys but if they had the rule that the lapped cars had to go to the tail end he also would have won
Robby wins a race and he still sucks? Jeff was just mad, he wrecked Jeff Burton to win the No Bull 5 million and told Jeff, Cmon it was for a million dollars? Why cant Robby do the the same for his first Cup win, Jeff maybe could have finished 2nd instead he wrecked his own car and got blacked flagged, Good Job Robby wish we could see more like this!
It didn't matter he had the championship locked up and after the damage he got from running into the back of the 31 and contact to bring out the caution there was no way he was going to win the race.
What I find funny is what Wally said at the end about Jeff. Why don't you try telling Rusty Wallace after two different Bristol races (1997, and 2002) that Jeff is a clean racer.
@666turbobusa put robby in a hendrick car and hell be competitive , he's a better overall driver than jeff , and please before you reply , read carefully "overall"
haha thanks for posting. You know that's just a bump and run man he didn't spin him out. It's racing for the win last race of the season. I would have done the same thing if i was robby and if Jeff did that to me under caution i'll go up to him after the race and walk right up to him well if you're mad at me let's do this shit.
Never saw the last part of this race, I heard a Gordon won but it was Robby...He won the race, the only race held on the week after Thanksgiving. But you ALL know what happens on the week after Thanksgiving. I guess Robby wanted to get himself an early Christmas present!
Robby Gordon is Robby Gordon's worst enemy-had the chance with numerous teams but his style and temper cost him the chance to be a champion there is no confussion-Jeff Gordon is a winner
@RideRich83 Did you watch the race? Jeff Gordon dominated..........the only reason Robbie was able to get to Gordon's bumper is because of the lapped traffic. I'd have been shocked if Robby could've passed the 24 cleanly.
This is why few people have respect for Robby Gordon and why he never became much of a star. He races like a moron. He blew every great chance he got and he's just a field-filler now.
@tvspnd1228 yea he is such a joke.just the best nascar driver in the modern era of nascar.80 plus wins.4 championships.hold tons of records.such a joke.you are the joke jack ass
I remember watching this too. Got me so pissed at Robbie, and when Jeff goes to repay the favor, he gets black flagged. But whatever, he still won the championship.
Jeff Gordon is the best driver in NASCAR and was the best that year another win in the making to close out a stellar year destroyed because of lousy driving on robby's part and i agree he became my most hated driver during this race but i've met him in person as well as Jeff and I'll tell u despite opposite driving skills both greats are great with the fans
@sweens06 you're right, I don't know him well at all, at least not personally. And it was wrong of me to judge him on one incident and not many. I'm but a biased Jeff Gordon fan, and mine is not to hate. Robby is a pretty average stock car driver, but I'll give him ultra credit for his diverse resume and off-road skill.
You live by the sword, you die by the sword. How many times did we hear about the Jeff Gordon bump and run?

The thing I liked about Robby was he did not go soft like most of the other drivers after the chase rules came into effect
