You are entirely correct that YEC has such a variance with established scientific reality that it makes no sense. Yet there are still people who believe Bishop Ussher's fool nonsense of Earth beginning at 11:30 AM, Oct. 23,4004 BC is actually the age of the Earth as stated in the bible (which actually makes no statement as to the age of the Earth).

good job on these videos man. explains things thouroughly and does not only use science to back up the theorys but you also mention what people argue. it is also obvious that you do not blatently disregard the bible and have never read it or tried to interpret it. a work of pure facts and reasonable areguments. =]

The speed of light is indeed 3x10^8 metres per second, and the light year is an astronomical unit of distance measurement, the distance said beam of light would travel in 1 year at it's velocity. We know galaxies are billions of light years away, so there are fairly accurate estimates as to the age of the Universe. The age is in the billions of years, so the figure of a few thousand which some interpretations of the Bible suggest is totally inaccurate

It is not reasonable to use what is explicitly told in the Bible to create a time line of historic events? Im not the first to have done this and most conclusions about the Biblical age of the Earth do not typically go beyond 10,000 years. If we cannot believe the specific dates and other claims in the Bible, how can we believe anything that is said? Should Original Sin, the Flood, and the Purpose of Christ be taken as just myths that never actually happened? That was not the author's intent...

My lack of faith is prohibiting me from seeing the truth in the Word? How convenient, for the Word. Since you are of faith can you tell me what is the age of the Earth? Its not a secrete the Bible claims the Earth is young, less than 10,000 years, and science claims the earth is 4.5 billion. But, how does light from galaxies millions of light-years away reach the Earth if the Earth has only existed for a few thousand years? That's proof enough the Earth is not young. However, what do you say?

This question has nothing to do with my point!

I don't think you understand MY point. If your flashlight is 1 billion light years away from where I am now, it would take 1 billion years for that light to reach me. I am not being placed in front of the flashlight, for I am 1 billion years away already. The Bible makes the assumption the Earth is relativity young, therefore this light should not reach us for another 990 million years. I wasnt aware the Bible supports the claim Earth is 4.5 billion years old -- thats what you believe?

The scripture u use are based only on first age documentation when you compare it to science! If you would checkout the site and thread I shared you would see that you are narrowing looking at the Word therefore missing the documentation on the subject you rasie! It's not hard just take some time and track down this documentation and then you may have something to teach in truth.

I like how the title is specifically "biblical age". As in oppose to real age. Biblical timeline is pretty far from reality (Noah's Flood swept right over ancient cultures, and they didn't even notice...)

With all do respect, creation story is just what the name applies: a story. Every culture has one. Very little to do with the reality though.

According to Acts 7:2-4 Abraham left Haran 'when his father was dead'. According to Genesis 11:26, Terah begat Abraham at the age of 70, and Genesis 11:32 says Terah lived 205 years. That means Abraham was at least 135 years old when he left Haran.

As to the age of Abraham when he left Haran -- I'm just going by what Genesis 12:4 states, feel free to look it up. However, in the grand scheme of things 60 years is not going to add or detract from the Bible's claim the Earth is very young.
