How do you get the game to work on DosBOX? I tried the dowloaded version of the game, but I couldn't play it because neither "StartH" nor the other can open data.gen.
@BlueDragon992 Yes. Found this game after years being in the attic, put it into my machine (64-bit Win7) and it wouldn't run the game installation, obviously. After a while it picked it up as an audio CD, now its playing all the tracks within the game. Rock on!
@BlueDragon992 There is Audio CD music with the game, I had it and I've still got it. It's very good, sounds exactly the same but with real instruments and guitars.
your powerslide needs work, but could be the car's fault. panther isnt quite as agile as it should be, however, there are some slide points on that map you need to discover for yourself that let you powerslide your car while maintaining 6th gear and speed. :)
there is only one turn in that track that cant be driven in 6th gear. 5 stars for the fact that its on youtube, 5 for hq, 4 for the fact im i hard critic ^_^
i think if you install that game that your pc will crash because your pc is to new to play that game and does not know what to do with all the files of that age believe me i had that once and i never installed the game in xp let alone windows 7
i havn`t tryed that out yet but my game is already recycled i think
my cd is used so much that my pc and radio couldn`t read it any more but that was i think 8 years back if not shorter but you can try if it works good luck
Nice, I still have my original CD. I kept it because of the audio tracks! We played this so much over a network back then. The cheatcodes worked in multiplayer, too, so you could surprise your opponents with the jet car! The jet car didn't powerslide and was probably the most "realistic" handling car in the game.
Woaaah! my first cargame ever! Would you mind to upload the cd-tracks to a site where we all can download them from? I've been searching for this game for ages now! and I still haven't found it.. I had the CD but I have no idea where it is today.. man.. I love the sound-tracks so much!
There is a CD audio track. This is the tracker version included in the game. By default the game uses CD audio but ca be changed to tracker from the setup utility.
Still they do miss some energy present in the Screamer Rally soundtrack. And the "go go go" voice here sucks really BAD (apart from which the game itself looks quite nice).
@BadManiac Wrong, the CD does have Audio tracks, pop it into a regular CD player and tracks through 2-9 are proper audio. the midi tracks are similar to the actual cd audio but not as good of course.
I have the original CD and it's got no redbook audio, that's really odd. I might have some special edition bundled version or something? Anyways, I think the midi is rocking enough :D
@BadManiac You are incorrect, there was CD audio with this game, the music in your video is the non CD audio version. This music was played on some computers that had slower CD drives and could not cope playing CD audio aswell as loading files, or for people that prefered the MIDI tracks! :)
A friend to me.. Had this game once.. Dont know if he still has it..
Anyway.. You are wrong.. In the copy my friend has/had.. It was about 8 audio tracks on.. Maybe less or more.. But it is ON the same disc as the game. And i copy the songs to tape.. I dont know where the heck that tape is.. And i want the songs back..... Can some onn here help me on this topic?!?!
@BadManiac Actually, there is a CD Audio soundtrack composed by Allister Brimble. Just pop the CD into a CD player and skip to number 2. This also plays during gameplay if it's properly configured to do so.
I've never heard of this game, isn't that sad? Looks a lot like Daytona USA, which is my all-time favorite racing game. Looks like a nice balance between arcade+realistic.
Looks like I have something to suck up ratio now. Mwa hahaha.
Nice smooth video. Must run very easily in DOSbox. Some of the later games I have to switch to d3d and capture with FRAPs due to the internal recorder eating up cycles.
This is with D3D and FRAPS. It runs very well without video capture, but when I capture the framerate drops a bit, even on a dual core. And using DosBox internal video capture makes anything unplayably slow for me.
This is one of the last pre-hardware 3D DOS games, so it's suitably demanding.
damn!this was my first pc game.i`m watching this in 2012

I'd say the graphical and gameplay style was closer to Sega's work like Daytona, than Ridge Racer.

Screamer was the only modern 3d racing game i really liked.
I played fatal raing to some extent, and 2d games like test drives, LOTUS, hot rod and such. I never really got into NFS and whatever came afterwards.

Hmm... My original PC game has better music.

its because he's not using the Audio CD tracks. That why the music is bad. He probably choose midi.

As far as I know there is no CD Audio. The music playing in the background is the midi soundtrack from the game.

@spikeman14 Yeh I've still got the CD version of the game, the CD music is excellent rock music.
It's sad how many people remember games like this with midi music! I had a
double speed CD drive in 1994. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is another example.
Fantastic CD music that some people never heard.
Even worse are people who only had FM synthesis and didn't
have a proper Midi sound card, which was the majority! Thank god I shelled out
the money for one.
