Everquest is the best mmorpg ever so far. Classic EQ i should say. People that get angry when you say that have obvious dont know, or are jealous because they did not get to experience it and there will prolly never be anything like it again. Ok wow sucks if you compare it to eq classic. i played eq for years and also played wow. Wow is for lil kids that cant play a game with skill thats why i quit it all it is are a bunch of lil kids bitchin and spammin channels eq had friendly players on it and you needed more group based fightin unlike wow all you have to do is quest for 5 days and hit the top lvl eq classic is and will always be the best mmo. Most of the top guilds on wow are also old eq raiders that play cause eq died down.

you can pay month to month, bi-monthly, three months at a time, 6 months at a time, or yearly. each option increases the amount you save. the best value is yearly if you can afford it. If SoE game cards are available to you at your local best buy or walmart, they are a cheap option for you. hope this answered your question

Oh my! This really takes me back. I started EQ in Dec. of 1999 (the year it was released) and used to love watching this movie. Got me pumped up to play. Was very sad when they took it out, but I was still able to use my original install disc to see this movie before doing the complete patch that took it out.
This really brings back memories of a simpler time in EQ. Trading in the tunnel in EC, sand giant trains in Oasis, riding the boat in FP. The game has changed so much since then
This game truly brought a unique experience to gaming. I distinctly remember wandering over a hill near Felwithe, turning around and being completely lost. You didn't get maps that knew your location, or maps at all for that matter. you had to learn the hard way. Those of us that did can still walk every trail and every hill from memory. And the times when players were nearly forced to interact in order to really get something done... those were the days. I miss those days a lot.
You and I both... Warhammer, WoW, Any other MMORPG that is new. They're all the same. Everquest was unique in the player interaction aspect. Early on at least.. No Hearthstones, no rezzing with all your gear... You took an EXP hit AND had to go retrieve your corpse from Sol A or risk loseing all your gear... Ahh yes, I miss those days alot.
I greatly miss the old days of EverQuest. I've played WoW for a long while, hoping it'd fill that void. It didn't. I'm moving on to WAR, partly because I enjoy the table-top, but also because it's done by a very promising company.
I quit playing wow but not because of the game itself which I enjoyed but because of the other players on the game. Half were assholes who realized that it didn't take much courage to insult someone when they were online (like no one realized that before). The other reason was that players looked for every cheating shortcut out there to advance instead of playing the game. It was time for me to quit when my enjoyment time was being hampered by world of assholes.
I played EQ starting about a month before Shadows of Luclin up until right before whichever expansion was after Gates of Discord was about to come out. Good game, but like just about every MMO, you're hosed if you can't get into an uber-guild at high level, and that was why I quit.
To anyone wanting play EQ one last time in its prime (99-01) check out EQClassic on google. The Devs are restoring everything back to the way it was on Norrath before Luclin was launched. Lets play one more time before the MMO Industry becomes flooded with quick instant reward RPGs that emphasize little team work in return for huge rewards (i didnt say WoW did I lawl)

The Everquest of 1999 up to the release of Shadows of Luclin was something that no game has been able to imitate since. Not even WoW. Regardless of how ill the game makes me today, I'll never forget the early years.
If it is then great, because it should be. No body strives to make a sequel that is worse than the original. The fact is that Everquest 2 SHOULD be better than Everquest. If it isn't, it's a failure of a sequel.

yeah man been an EQer since the pre alpha came out and it hasent been the same since the PoP came out made it to easy to play sucked the fun right out of it.
wow is going the same direction. They made it easier to level and on my second character it took me 2 weeks to level to 30 because they now decreased the amount of xp you needed to progress. Do game designers know that people like challenge and get bored with something that is to easy.

You couldn't be more wrong. The height of Everquest was overshadowed the day after the launch of WoW, when they *doubled* the peak subscriber base of EQ (approximately 250,000 players). You may be pining for your youth, but that doesn't make Everquest a better game.
The height of everquest was LONG over before WoW even began production. The fact is, WoW never was a good game, and never will be. Everquest at least was for a short time. The people who were there remember it, and know all to well, there will never be another game like Everquest was. Players have changed, it was the players that made Everquest so great in it's youth, not just the game itself.

Man EQ was the shit 99 - 03. All those damn expansions ruined it though. Great zones like Oasis of Marr were ghost zones thanks to quick fixes like fucking Paludul. I remember when travelling around used to be exciting and took a bit of effort. Now you can just click on a stone. Not even going to get into how many zones are just wasted because of constant expansions...ugh. Great game but all great things come to an end I guess.
planes of power imo was the climax of the game and its expansions...they couldn't exactly top it off with a better one and so the game rating went down
I foresee the end of wow soon, for shortly after, ugh i cant even remember what small company combined with sony they went down, and BLizz just combined with activsion, the fall of wow is imminent.
I wont go into detail about how much WoW ruined the Warcraft series or how all "3000" EQ expansions watered the game down to boringness. I will say however that this was my Favorite MMORPG of all time and that SOE ruins any game it touches.

Everquest 1 came out in March of 1999. At that time the best you had was Ultima Online. Its funny though, yeah now the graphics suck but in '99 the game revolutionized the MMO industry.
It's really funny to see all the people debating the worth of EQ based on the graphics of this movie.
For one, this movie was posted a year ago. On top of that, the movie itself is somewhere near 9 or 10 years old. It's from the very original EQ, before any expansions were added, and WAY before the several graphic overhauls the game has had over the years.
The game play itself, by the way, never looked like this movie.

Oh my! This really takes me back. I started EQ in Dec. of 1999 (the year it was released) and used to love watching this movie. Got me pumped up to play. Was very sad when they took it out, but I was still able to use my original install disc to see this movie before doing the complete patch that took it out.
This really brings back memories of a simpler time in EQ. Trading in the tunnel in EC, sand giant trains in Oasis, riding the boat in FP. The game has changed so much since then

This game truly brought a unique experience to gaming. I distinctly remember wandering over a hill near Felwithe, turning around and being completely lost. You didn't get maps that knew your location, or maps at all for that matter. you had to learn the hard way. Those of us that did can still walk every trail and every hill from memory. And the times when players were nearly forced to interact in order to really get something done... those were the days. I miss those days a lot.

You and I both... Warhammer, WoW, Any other MMORPG that is new. They're all the same. Everquest was unique in the player interaction aspect. Early on at least.. No Hearthstones, no rezzing with all your gear... You took an EXP hit AND had to go retrieve your corpse from Sol A or risk loseing all your gear... Ahh yes, I miss those days alot.

I greatly miss the old days of EverQuest. I've played WoW for a long while, hoping it'd fill that void. It didn't. I'm moving on to WAR, partly because I enjoy the table-top, but also because it's done by a very promising company.

I've played quite a few MMO's and Everquest is on the more challenging side, which makes it more appealing.
All the pussies are going to WoW (who'll miss the faggots?), yes I've played WoW and it's made for little girls with a 3 year old mentality.

I quit playing wow but not because of the game itself which I enjoyed but because of the other players on the game. Half were assholes who realized that it didn't take much courage to insult someone when they were online (like no one realized that before). The other reason was that players looked for every cheating shortcut out there to advance instead of playing the game. It was time for me to quit when my enjoyment time was being hampered by world of assholes.

I played EQ starting about a month before Shadows of Luclin up until right before whichever expansion was after Gates of Discord was about to come out. Good game, but like just about every MMO, you're hosed if you can't get into an uber-guild at high level, and that was why I quit.

To anyone wanting play EQ one last time in its prime (99-01) check out EQClassic on google. The Devs are restoring everything back to the way it was on Norrath before Luclin was launched. Lets play one more time before the MMO Industry becomes flooded with quick instant reward RPGs that emphasize little team work in return for huge rewards (i didnt say WoW did I lawl)

The Everquest of 1999 up to the release of Shadows of Luclin was something that no game has been able to imitate since. Not even WoW. Regardless of how ill the game makes me today, I'll never forget the early years.

If it is then great, because it should be. No body strives to make a sequel that is worse than the original. The fact is that Everquest 2 SHOULD be better than Everquest. If it isn't, it's a failure of a sequel.

wow is going the same direction. They made it easier to level and on my second character it took me 2 weeks to level to 30 because they now decreased the amount of xp you needed to progress. Do game designers know that people like challenge and get bored with something that is to easy.

You couldn't be more wrong. The height of Everquest was overshadowed the day after the launch of WoW, when they *doubled* the peak subscriber base of EQ (approximately 250,000 players). You may be pining for your youth, but that doesn't make Everquest a better game.

The height of everquest was LONG over before WoW even began production. The fact is, WoW never was a good game, and never will be. Everquest at least was for a short time. The people who were there remember it, and know all to well, there will never be another game like Everquest was. Players have changed, it was the players that made Everquest so great in it's youth, not just the game itself.

Man EQ was the shit 99 - 03. All those damn expansions ruined it though. Great zones like Oasis of Marr were ghost zones thanks to quick fixes like fucking Paludul. I remember when travelling around used to be exciting and took a bit of effort. Now you can just click on a stone. Not even going to get into how many zones are just wasted because of constant expansions...ugh. Great game but all great things come to an end I guess.

I wont go into detail about how much WoW ruined the Warcraft series or how all "3000" EQ expansions watered the game down to boringness. I will say however that this was my Favorite MMORPG of all time and that SOE ruins any game it touches.

WoW is for kids... the game has no focus cause the maturity level of the game is that of a 14 year old... the game it'self has not even a fraction of the content everquest has... the economy is a joke... tradeskills be be easily maxed in one day... they had to drop the raid numbers down to 10 and 25 cause the maturity level is so low, not to mention the focus of a 14 year old isnt very great... so yeah i can see how wow is a much better game... Everquest 1 came out in March of 1999. At that time the best you had was Ultima Online. Its funny though, yeah now the graphics suck but in '99 the game revolutionized the MMO industry.

It's really funny to see all the people debating the worth of EQ based on the graphics of this movie.
For one, this movie was posted a year ago. On top of that, the movie itself is somewhere near 9 or 10 years old. It's from the very original EQ, before any expansions were added, and WAY before the several graphic overhauls the game has had over the years.
The game play itself, by the way, never looked like this movie.
