Actually its not. It's a ballroom cabaret or theatre arts piece which is close to contemporary. In fact, technically Mia Micheals choreography (Which don't get me wrong, I adore Mia Micheals, she is brilliant) is more of a rip off of ballroom and ballet from which most of her (and all of contemporary dance for that matter) lifts, partner work, and technique are taken from

It's an exhibition waltz. Tempo/beat of a waltz, with performance choreography mixed in. That's where the "mish-mosh" comes in.

I love Josh and Tony but I really wished Tony and Julianna would've done a few more traditional waltz elements. The lifts were amazing but it seemed like the whole performances was all lifts. I still love them though!

I agree with you. It was all lifts. To me, to seemed more like a rumba then a waltz but thats just me. But it was still very good.

For sure. You would never see that in competition so many lifts. I saw this one time when Katusha Demidova and her partner do a waltz to this song at a competition and it was so gorgeous. I had hoped Tony and Julianne would have done something similar but their interpretation was pretty good.

i dont think their intention was to dance a "traditional waltz" a lot of times the pro dances are more of a hodge podge of styles that showcase their abilities and the music.... i think this was definitely a mix of rumba and waltz with lots of fantastic lifts!

Yea it def wasn't a "traditional waltz" and I don't think that it was their aim. Most of these dances by the professionals during the results shows are mixes like you said. You don't even see really traditional dances in the actual competition on DWTS since it's more for entertainment purposes but I still like to see what these dancers think up for choreo and see what these celebs can do. That's the whole point of it.

they also have a slipper called dance paws where you only have your ball of your foot protected. Very comfortable,or put a special powder on your foot so you don't stick to the floor in spins.

if you think about it, dancers normally dont wear heels they wear ballet shoes or whatever shoe depending on the type of dance, or go barefoot in a studio so its not that surprising actually its probably easier for her
