  • This is Act 1 btw

  • God, this song brings back memories.

This is definitely going on my iPod :)

  • Heck I wish they added this zone in Sonic Generations.

  • My favourite Sonic song ever... It's absolutely amazing, especially at around 1:38

  • ahh...such an underrated game, on an underrated system. Makes me want to break out my Saturn and play it...

  • Man, I really wish they'd put the Saturn version on the Wii, cuz I'd never get a different one.

  • I could listen to this 24/7.

  • cool music :)

  • If David Wise composed a Sonic game.

  • @rockhoundhigh

That's actually a pretty keen comment. Wise is usually more melodic than this, and he also rarely uses clashy chords... still though, I can't help but be reminded of the soundtrack of DKC2 listening to this.

  • I was doing something else and just listening to this music and it started out like a final boss soundtrack in an RPG so when I looked I was surprised to see that it was Sonic, very cool song.

  • This is indeed the PC version. It's the only one I've played.

I still haven't beaten it. Actually, I haven't touched it in years... Something about some carnival level or something...

  • @MrTanookiMario Spring Stadium, I bet.

  • richard jacques is one of the greatest composers ever

  • Maybe sonic 3D games were not as popular as the 2D games because the challenge to make a game ahead of it's time ( a 3D game with the 2D level of complexity and challenge translated to the same level in 3D) was just to hard.... for now

    What do you think ?

  • Sounds sorta metroid-ish in my opinion.... LOVE IT!!!! hahaha

  • This is a great, great track, I can't take anything away from it, but I have to give it up more so to the Genesis version of Rusty Ruins Act 2. Saturn Version is just a bit too depressing for my taste.

  • @Week1010101

it fits the theme better, and long abandoned city shrouded in constant rain and fog, the genesis version sounds closer to the next level, the circus/ carnival one

  • Wow...just wow.

  • Sonic music will live on forever in my heart. This is one of my top top favorite VGM tracks since I first heard it back when the game came out. It's gorgeous and dreamy and it really worked well with the rainy levels. It has that breezy cool feel to the melody.

  • There seems to be something mysterious and mystical about this tune I love it!

  • i liked this song, although the level was frustrating as hell to beat with the spinning and all. it sounds sad, though.

  • you could actually get this song (i'm not joking) if you put a sonic 3d blast computer cd into say a radio or a cd player. go ahead try it.

  • I had the Genesis version ='[ music wasn't like this at all!

  • can you send this to me?

  • this is the best ever made music of the sonic series but thats my opinion!

  • Oooh that is a good one lol : ) yay

  • This is the first step to the next-gen Sonic we know now, only better. BETTER.

  • Like butterflies storming through a cement pipe that leads into a damp alleyway, pieces of sun shooting through a canopy of clothes hung between buildings to dry.

    ...

    What, you don't hear it?

  • This music is ace.

The saturn has better graphics & incredible new bonus stage which is kicks the genesis version.

The genesis graphics were dull and no sharpness plus the bonus stage was naff, sonic 3d bonus stage on saturn is one of the best of any sonic games.

  • it's like Sonic 2's bonus stages but....fun.

  • Saturn exclusive. I still have a the console and game. This track still moves me.

  • Yay! Sega Saturn! It makes me want to go buy another one! My old Sega Saturn broke years ago...

  • Damn, I wish I could've played the saturn version now. Though I do love the genesis.

  • beautiful, I remember this :)

  • I don't remember this song, was it only in the Saturn version?

  • Saturn only. I played my share of this on the Genesis when I was younger, so seeing the better special stages and music in the Saturn version blows my mind.

  • Not just Saturn, PC version too.

  • Yeah, it was only on the Saturn one.

  • @sonicspeed011 this is the PC version 0.o im pretty sure... i dunno, i have it on pc... but i like all the songs from the genesis version better

  • @sonicspeed011 Yap...Sega Saturn Version

  • @sonicspeed011 yes it was :)

  • @sonicspeed011

Yeah, the Genesis version of the song had more of an arcade-style feel to it. Personally, I like both versions equally, although this one is more serene and could be re-used easily for something like a home video or whatevs :)

  • btw, I think this one's actually Act I

  • @XeroTheManic1 Nope, but it's listed that way officially.

  • @sonicspeed011

No, It was also in the PC version. Although, this wasn't in the Genesis version.

  • @sonicspeed011

    PC too.

  • @sonicspeed011 yeah, the US version sucked... play the US PC version, its the original

  • @HyperSonic707 Umm there was no US Version they were the same it was the Genesis and Saturn Version(which the Saturn Version had a PC Port!)!

  • @sonicspeed011 Saturn and PC.

  • @sonicspeed011

No. This was also featured in the PC version of the game as well. Way back in 1996 or something, before the idea of Virtual consoles was a dream.

  • woah... i've always played sonic 3d blast on genesis, i didn't realize that the saturn version would have different music in it!!! this is my first time hearing this song... now i'm curious as to what the other songs sound like !!!!!

  • what is better saturn PC or genesis, includes graphics music sound effects gameplay and colors

  • saturn. Saturn has enhanced graphics, faster play, more interactive backgrounds, and a killer soundtrack. the PC version is a port of the saturn version with a lot missing except music and BG interaction. colors are better on saturn as well.

  • at the time, saturn would be best.

saturn had one processor for video and two processors for sound which meant that you could have cd quality sound.

  • That wasn't even a complete sentence or even basic grammar. You make no sense, I don't even know who Yuji Naka is but I'm pretty sure he/she would be amazed at Sonic Adventure 1 & 2.

  • Yuji Naka was the person who thought of the idea for Sonic the Hedgehog. Basically, he's the creator.

  • This music makes you feel sad and nostalgic inside

  • exactly the way i feel

  • I know, but god i love nostalgia! Other songs do this to me like Sagat's theme (super SFII), Hidden Palace zone, Goro's lair. alot of those games are back in memories, with good times attached.

  • This game was also on the PC, this very same version. I bought Sonic 3D blast and Sonic R together, they came in a bundle. I love this music, it's so relaxing.

  • Pretty good. Got something to it that I like!

  • Dude, the thing isn't even set in high quality and it blows my mind :O

It definately is in Stereo sound though.

  • I like it ^_^

  • I don't know if you've ever played Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360/PS3 because it has probably the best music out of all the Sonic games, despite it having terrible gameplay and story

  • all Sonic games, regardless of how good they are, have amazing soundtracks, that's something Sega refuses to fail at: music.

  • god, i'm glad someone said it.

  • BINGO!! YAHTZEE!!

  • The beginning of the fall of sonic started with this game. Poor guy just wasn't the same.

  • No, just the decline of true Sonic Fans.

  • I am a true sonic fan, I own EVERY game for sega genesis, however, this one was only used once. Sonic&Knuckles with the additional attachment for the first 3 games is legendary and once in a lifetime.

  • I disagree. While it isn't on par with the 2D Sonic games, I still really enjoy this game. An besides, the Sonic games leaped back up with Sonic Adventure a few years later.

Sonic only really started to go downhill with Sonic Heroes, in my opinion.

  • NEVER heard this version before and now i know why people are at odds about the two...

Now i've gotta listen to this version(I've only heard the genesis version).

  • Ahh....The originals. So much better than the one they Put in Sonic chronicles. u.u This is one of those songs that makes you stop what you're doing and calmly listen to the beautiful sounds being made.

Also, this song has always made me feel....spiritual in a way.

  • I like how soothing this is, I came to this video all uptight, and when it was over I was in complete peace, nice choice

  • A great song. I, like many others, got the genesis version so I didn't hera it until now.

  • It's a shame the two versions having wildly different soundtracks causes people to choose sides when both are well-crafted. I grew up knowing the Genesis versions but I can appreciate the subtle calmness here. Did the Saturn version have slightly different music between acts too?

  • Amazing! I can't believe I've never heard this before!

  • The Saturn version sounds a helluva lot better than the Genesis version. Too bad cause most people played the Genesis version and bad mouth 3-D Blast.

  • What? I don't recall this at all!

I wasn't aware that the two versions had different music!

  • Damn, I like this. I've never played Sonic 3D Blast and I've only heard a few songs off the game. Holy .....shiznik this is some really good stuff.

  • Holy guacamole.

  • The sound on this version is way way way better than the genesis version. I'm very impressed.

  • YDMND

  • lol i have the genesis version is it different if it is in what ways besides graphics and sound

  • DANG. Nice pic

  • This kicks Genesis 3D Blast in the nuts.

  • Damn that's a good tune. Good find

  • I'll say what we're all thinking: the Saturn version beats the hell out of the Genesis version. And this is coming from somebody who owned the Genesis version only.

  • O_O This sounds so cool for a Sonic game.

  • Never would have thought of a song from this game. Good job!

  • was this on the genesis too? or was that another game?

  • It was on Genesis, but the soundtrack, graphics and Special Stages were completely different. However, from what I saw, the level layouts were identical.

  • That was a suprise!
