That's actually a pretty keen comment. Wise is usually more melodic than this, and he also rarely uses clashy chords... still though, I can't help but be reminded of the soundtrack of DKC2 listening to this.
I was doing something else and just listening to this music and it started out like a final boss soundtrack in an RPG so when I looked I was surprised to see that it was Sonic, very cool song.
NIGHTS INTO DREAMS. MADE BY SONIC TEAM BUT NOT SONIC. SONIC R. PERFECT GRAPHICS FULL GAME MADE BY SONIC TEAM BUT A RACING GAME NOT A TRUE PLATFORMER. SONIC JAM SONIC WORLD. PERFECT SONIC DEMO IN A BUNDLE, BUT WAY TOO SHORT TO BE CONSIDERED A REAL GAME. SONIC X-TREME. NEVER RELEASED. SONIC ADVENTURE. NOT FOR SEGA SATURN BUT FOR SEGA DREAMCAST. I PERSONALLY THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT FOR SEGA SATURN AND RELEASED DREAMCAST LATER IN 2001 OR 2002 OR SOMETHING BUT THATS JUST ME. SONIC 3-BLAST.
Maybe sonic 3D games were not as popular as the 2D games because the challenge to make a game ahead of it's time ( a 3D game with the 2D level of complexity and challenge translated to the same level in 3D) was just to hard.... for now
This is a great, great track, I can't take anything away from it, but I have to give it up more so to the Genesis version of Rusty Ruins Act 2. Saturn Version is just a bit too depressing for my taste.
it fits the theme better, and long abandoned city shrouded in constant rain and fog, the genesis version sounds closer to the next level, the circus/ carnival one
Sonic music will live on forever in my heart. This is one of my top top favorite VGM tracks since I first heard it back when the game came out. It's gorgeous and dreamy and it really worked well with the rainy levels. It has that breezy cool feel to the melody.
Like butterflies storming through a cement pipe that leads into a damp alleyway, pieces of sun shooting through a canopy of clothes hung between buildings to dry.
Saturn only. I played my share of this on the Genesis when I was younger, so seeing the better special stages and music in the Saturn version blows my mind.
Yeah, the Genesis version of the song had more of an arcade-style feel to it. Personally, I like both versions equally, although this one is more serene and could be re-used easily for something like a home video or whatevs :)
woah... i've always played sonic 3d blast on genesis, i didn't realize that the saturn version would have different music in it!!! this is my first time hearing this song... now i'm curious as to what the other songs sound like !!!!!
saturn. Saturn has enhanced graphics, faster play, more interactive backgrounds, and a killer soundtrack. the PC version is a port of the saturn version with a lot missing except music and BG interaction. colors are better on saturn as well.
That wasn't even a complete sentence or even basic grammar. You make no sense, I don't even know who Yuji Naka is but I'm pretty sure he/she would be amazed at Sonic Adventure 1 & 2.
I know, but god i love nostalgia! Other songs do this to me like Sagat's theme (super SFII), Hidden Palace zone, Goro's lair. alot of those games are back in memories, with good times attached.
This game was also on the PC, this very same version. I bought Sonic 3D blast and Sonic R together, they came in a bundle. I love this music, it's so relaxing.
I don't know if you've ever played Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360/PS3 because it has probably the best music out of all the Sonic games, despite it having terrible gameplay and story
I am a true sonic fan, I own EVERY game for sega genesis, however, this one was only used once. Sonic&Knuckles with the additional attachment for the first 3 games is legendary and once in a lifetime.
I disagree. While it isn't on par with the 2D Sonic games, I still really enjoy this game. An besides, the Sonic games leaped back up with Sonic Adventure a few years later.
Sonic only really started to go downhill with Sonic Heroes, in my opinion.
Ahh....The originals. So much better than the one they Put in Sonic chronicles. u.u This is one of those songs that makes you stop what you're doing and calmly listen to the beautiful sounds being made.
Also, this song has always made me feel....spiritual in a way.
It's a shame the two versions having wildly different soundtracks causes people to choose sides when both are well-crafted. I grew up knowing the Genesis versions but I can appreciate the subtle calmness here. Did the Saturn version have slightly different music between acts too?
The Saturn version sounds a helluva lot better than the Genesis version. Too bad cause most people played the Genesis version and bad mouth 3-D Blast.
I'll say what we're all thinking: the Saturn version beats the hell out of the Genesis version. And this is coming from somebody who owned the Genesis version only.
It was on Genesis, but the soundtrack, graphics and Special Stages were completely different. However, from what I saw, the level layouts were identical.
This is Act 1 btw

The saturn has better graphics & incredible new bonus stage which is kicks the genesis version.
