  • My name is Tyler and I love this song!

  • Stop calling him Vaden, please. It's a weird thing he picked up around the start of the Burden Brothers phase. It's just Todd.

  • @JayInGrapevine

Actually that is his real first name.

  • saw them with reverend horton heat and the butthole surfers in 96. Got thrown outta the mosh pitt for throwing a coozy.

  • DALLAAAAAAAAS

  • Why isn't Todd playing guitar?

  • Vaden isnt playing guitar because at the time there were already two guitarist a girl tracey and a guy charles. so there wasnt no need.

  • Yeah I figured it out after I left the comment haha. I'm guessing Todd (Vaden) still had a hand in writing some for the guitar material though right?

  • Yeah, im sure he did.

  • Cool. Well these old videos are pretty cool. I like seeing this stuff. I wish there were more live preformances from their best years on Youtube though. Like 95'. That would be cool. Theres like one preformance of Possum Kingdom from 95' on here.

  • Yeah i've seen that, would be cool to see more early years of the toadies well....i'd like to see more in general. Lol.

  • I never saw The Toadies at Trees, but I saw them at the Bronco Bowl in Fort Worth in 1997. I was 14 at the time, and it was an awesome concert. This is my favorite Toadies song, and one of my all time favorite songs!

  • Trees has reopened but with the closing of the Gypsy Tea Room and most of Deep Ellum...it'll never be the same

  • I love the toadies!!! I was listening to them for a few years before anyone had heard of them. Possum Kingdom was actually playing when I had my 1st daughter.

  • HELL YA BOY FUCKIN RIGHT

  • The Toadies finally got back together at this show on St Patty's day 2 years ago in Dallas on Greenville Ave - everything stopped when they played and everyone went ape sh*t

  • I was 1 when they played lol :( i wished i coulda been there. They are like my favorite band im from DFW, i saw them play in austin though it was awsome!

  • Never knew the Toadies were a five piece band at one time. Learn something new everyday.

  • Yeah, they were a 5 piece band, but one of the guitarist left and Todd picked up guitar as well as the vocals. Also, I used to live in that town that this song was named after, pretty cool...

  • I remember going to see them in deep ellum from 90 to 93. I probably saw them play live at least 2 dozen times in front of crowds of no more than 40 people. It's strange to drive through deep ellum now and see how dead it is.

  • Limestoneroad, regarding your comment from 2 months ago (below), what is deep ellum? I thought that back in the day their main haunt was a venue called Trees. Details please! I am a fan of their studio work, tryin to live vicariously through you guys. Thanks!

  • Deep Ellum is an area of Dallas in which the club Trees was located along with a lot of other live music venues. Trees is now closed along with all the other bars in Deep Ellum I used to see them play at.

  • i stopped going to deep ellum almost ten years ago, when gangs started filling the streets. fuckin dance clubs ruin everything. did i hear the bomb factory actually burned down? that and trees were my favorite.

  • I saw them last night in Seattle. Brilliant show. I thought no one knew who they were up here, but they sold out the Showbox, which holds about 1300 people. Great crowd singing along with every song. It was a great feeling to know people still love the Toadies.

  • i am from North Richland Hills and now live in colorado..but they're comin here in a week and i'm going to see them! no one even knows who they are up here..it's sad! i love love love them so much!!!

  • They even closed the Gypsy Tea Room.

  • I was one year old!

Why couldn't my sisters take me anyway... I live in Dallas!

  • I was 22 and it was a great show,i live in Carrollton! haha

  • Hah. Well, you're one lucky bastard!

    So... I'm guessing you're 39ish?

  • exactly,Toadies was a good show, seen Lillian Axe and Zebra that same night up the Elm.

  • this is the best video i've seen so far. was just checking it out because IM GOING TO SEE THEM TONIGHT!! in tulsa and im taking my sister. this will be truly amazing- i have goose bumps! thank you for this video, Juabeaux, great quality and the feeling was captured! :)

  • The Toadies and the Trees concert hall are great, cuz just as DEEP ELLUM was falling off after the first wave of awesomeness('84-89), Toadies and Trees come along.

  • WOW, I had never even heard of the Toadies until 1995, in 1991 I was still in my "bubblegum" music phase. Toadies ROCK!!

  • todd is a way better rhythm guitar player than that guy... he can really ride the beat

  • I think that rubberneck is one of the greatest albums of all time. It's not surprising to me that the singer has trouble matching the cd recording when he performs live- the vocal acrobatics and constant straining always killed my throat when I tried to sing along. He totally missed the start of the second verse- but that's ok.

  • damn 1991. I still liste ton this guys. I live in Irving.

  • Holy crap... this brings back hella memories. I remember seeing them all through those days.

  • this is what david cook needs to sing on american idol!

  • this is when dallas was fuckin awesome!!!

  • I love it sweet which kind? The kind thats in this guys voice? Cause the rest of the group is going awesome i love they way they sound. Now if the singer coud just shut up and do us all a favor!

  • great video. that's awesome that you were there 3 years before rubberneck came out.

  • wow before! wish they were still around! killer ass music!

    aka

free beer guy (if you remember mark) lol

  • they kind of are still around. they did a ten-date reunion in december, and they've left the door open for more dates. vaden todd lewis' other band, burden brothers, is on hiatus, so it's a possibility.

  • he does a very job starting at 3:30 i gonna learn to sing that add libb in there thats awesome

  • a very *sweet* job i meant

  • WOW they sucked.I'm so glad that they got all the kinks and SPASMS out befor they put it to record history. Never the less they still rock I love the Toadies! May god rest that Lesbian ass and her sister at chilis where ever their dikes ass are at

  • you are a fuckhead

  • what a douche

  • sweet which kind oil and viniger the kind your mama use

  • Wow! 1991 before the final band members were set. The singer got better too before this. I heard he took voice lessons. I like his voice in the later recordings.

  • this is bad ass. brings a tear to my eyes. thanks for posting

  • THAT IS AWESOME! That was the first time I had ever seen Todd without a guitar in his hands. He does a great white man version of Stevie Wonder rocking back and fourth like that.

Thanks for posting that, it really took me back.

  • Great video....gawdawful dancing. ;)

  • lol, yeah, that dancing is awesomely bad

  • the dancing reminds me of Bez from Happy Mondays (as on the 3:18 mark of the "Step On" video)

  • lance ur fat

  • Best Tyler video ever. Thanks for posting man.
