I'm a Kansan and I want to say that Jenkins is not to blame for Bush's wasteful spending. She was elected over another Republican in the primaries because she criticized Republican spending, among other things.

The only thing I really don't like about her is that she is for the Patriot Act.

Apollo - So what? The Treasurer is basically just an accountant. Gov's controls the state & it's expenditures. And, the Gov during that time of explosive spending was Democrat Kathleen Sebelius.

To further highlight your type of hypocrisy - for Bush's terms - you people blame HIM (as head) for the country's debt - not the Treasurer. But, here you blame the Treasurer, and not the (head) Gov. Why is that? This flunks even elementary logic.

While I do believe that some of former administration's economic policies have contributed to the recession we're experiencing, I do not blame him as he has little economic background and was (hopefully) not the authoritative voice on the matter.

Congresswoman Jenkins touts her "money sense" through her background as a CPA and Treasurer, I simply highlighted the fact that her state can't even pay public servants, but she wants a system to exist without taxing, spending, and borrowing.
