  • Finder (bleep)...ked up

  • Mac doesn't know what it is so it killed itself :D

  • Sorry, Finder's on vacation...

  • try holding down the option key on boot up after the bong and if anything comes up click it and click the arrow

  • @TheToby505 i have the same problem with a imac g4 1.0ghz i start it up and hold down the option(alt)button and it comes up to a blue screen and two arrows one is right arrow and one is half circle and i press the right arrow but wont pass it and just stays on that i don know what it could be,any sugesstions?

  • @kosturanec well have you checked your harddrive or if your useing a cd check that your harddrive might be damaged makeing try to boot off a netwprk like the mac in the vedio is

  • I means that it is trying to boot off a network source.

  • Iam having the same problem, but when i insert the Mac OS X start up disk and hold down the C Key on a regular Keyboard nothing happen. Please advise

  • this means your mac is set to boot off an network when it cant find anything it will boot from hd

  • @iamVERYradom once u go Mac u will never go back!!!!!!

  • @Scooby0428 once you go mac, you'll always come back

  • older one, not enough memory, unscrew, or send it to apple (i was gonna say to unscrew and see if theres any memory)

  • that happend to me

  • this happened at school! we have an old indigo imac and we got tiger 10.4.11 and it did this.

  • Sorry, here is the correct thing.

Insert your iMac install DVD. Shut down the computer and turn it back on holding down the C key until you see the apple screen AND the loader thing. It may take a few minutes to start up. Then go up to utilities and click start up disk. Then select the Macintosh HD and restart.

    Good Luck

  • most likely the start up file was deleted or corrupted.

  • HERE IS THE FIX BELOW...

At start up insert the your Mac OS X start up disk and hold down the C key. (at start up!!)

Then go to System Preferences>Start up disk>select Mac OS X HD and see if it worked (it worked for me)

  • The older ones do.... my cousin has had her 24inch imac since the first year they sold them, and no problems. that is like 4 or 5 years old too. i just got my 27inch imac.... AND I LOVE IT! :)

  • Apple : "MACS DONT CRASH!"

well, here its proven, THEY DO!

  • virus do not know if this is but it has to be qu fomat

  • Finder went for a vacation

  • The globe is it looking for the system files, the question mark and finder icon indicates it cant find something system related. This happens to me on my hackintosh, only way i solved it completely was an install.

QUICK Edit: Sorry, apparently the globe means its searching for the files on a network disk, then when it cant find them you get the question mark and finder flashing.

  • you need to re install the os, happens all the time

  • Macs dont get Viruses so it cannot be a virus!

  • @ilife11 macs get tons of viruses, like the RSPlug versions A, B, and C. they were all mac trojans

  • @ilife11 Macs do get viruses. Just not as many as Windows. Same with Linux, there's only like 4 or 5 viruses for Linux out there.

  • it means your OS X leopard finding the files or folders.

  • just reset you're p ram at boot, hold down comand option p and r and have some one turn on the system, it will stop that from happing, its just netboot

  • Doesn't that globe mean that it's looking for a network harddrive? Just go to system preferences and select your normal bootdisk.

  • My iMac G3 Did the same thing while i saw the happy mac

  • must be on network start up

  • How do you get off it ?

  • let it do that for a hour or two

  • An Hour , OMG :)

  • i know but if that dose not work try restoreing it

  • how do you restore it ?

  • u have to have the dvds or cds to restore

  • If you have OS X, you can turn it off in system preferences

  • when It opens:

    -Go to System Pref's

    -Choose Start up Disk

-Select your main HD and Restart

    -It should boot normally

  • OK How long do i wait for it to boot into osx ?

  • It took like maybe 5 minutes

  • can you help me i dont know how to fix just the same in this video

  • That means that mac cannot find a legal version of os x. You have to re-install the os.

  • Hardrive error. It means it can not find the Mac OS on your computer

  • Hold Alt at Startup and choose your boot disk and then once OSX is open, go to "startup disk" and choose OSX as start up disk...

  • You have a cute mac on 0:19 :3

  • omg my imac just did the exact same thing! i got so scared

    have you fixed it? HELP!

  • The machine is set to Network start. YOu can turn it off in System Preferences

  • Yeah, it's probably trying to find a network or it's startup folder.

On another note, I'm diggin' this piano jam. What song is it?

  • what metro said, its trying to network connect, usually because it thinks the OS files are on a network, and because it cant connect to network, it cant find OSX.

  • Once OSX is open, go to "startup disk" and choose OSX as start up disk...

  • The flashing globe means that it's trying to connect to a network. To fix, restart the Mac while holding "alt.". This will bring you to the menu where you can choose OS and what not. Choose OSX and click on the arrow, and bob's yer uncle.

  • a friend asked me to fix this problem, on a PC you get a bit more indication to the sickness..on apples, they just give you some vague crap and expect you to bring it in. blah.

  • bad hard drive

  • It's MORPHIN' TIME!

    XD

  • Nope, not a virus. It means that the computer is unable to locate the system folder and is failing to boot.

  • @iamVERYrandom hey i have the same problem so if the mac cant locate the system folder then what needs to be done to fix it ?

  • @tipsysk8ter Reinstall using your restore disc that came with the computer

  • @iamVERYrandom The globe is just the iMac getting information from your network server. Basically, it can't find a net install of Mac OS on your computer and therefore refuses to boot. Try reinstalling your operating system.

  • @jonvincent12 > 2 years ago

I've gone back to PC now.

  • i think your hdd crashed

  • @Maserati7200 no it didn't dumbass dick

  • @1234567abc3 I'm sorry that you're on your period now and that your PMS'ing like a bitch because of it. Hopefully it'll end soon, in addition to the sand exiting your vagina.

  • The question mark folder is the computers way of saying "Searching for System Files. Please Wait." And the globe probably means "Connecting to the Internet. Please Wait."

  • I saw that before. I don't use my iMac anymore. I now have Windows Vista. It somehow booted on mine though.

  • ok i am not a jackass and ether its missing sytem file or it cant find the os because its seting for booting are wrong

  • the globe is it trying to network boot, when it fails at that i.e. you do not have a server with OSX server on it for the mac to boot off of the symbol changes to a folder icon with a ? on it and the finder logo, this is telling you that the system does not know where to boot from. an easy fix would be if it finally gets in to osx to go to apple menu system preferences start up disc and to re select your hard drive as the boot location. if it wont go in to osx at all you need to reload the os.

  • Thats not good man, it means it doesnt have an operating system to run off of. insert an operating system disk in and boot.

  • Pls help me my macbook has a prolem like this to i try to reinstall but disk error

  • That isn't a virus, he needs a system CD.

You must insert it and press the key "c", I have this problem, too.

  • stupid idiots with worng answefs i do not use a mac but i know that means that there is a important system file missing and it is g4 not g5 because g5 was in 2007 ok so you have to boot it from your restore disk befaore this happend i hope it helps

  • umm... you can see quite clearly that it's a G5 iMac and not a G4 when the camera's zoomed out at the beginning of the video. Do you really think G5 was released last year!?

  • macs were on transitioning to Intel as of 2006 this is a G5 and an older G5 because their is no isight on it . p.s. their have been G5 iMacs since August 2004. and the error is that the system does not see a boot location, not an important system file missing. So do a bit of research before you call people idiots Jackass.

  • No your all wrong you it's just that you have set to network start up my mac did that once before you need to start the computer up with the install dvd in and go to utilities and you should be able to change the start up disk

  • Your mac can't find the Finder folder. It has all of your system folders. Get the disc of whatever OS you are using and reinstall the folder.

  • I have the same problem with my powerbook G3 and i got an external drive with an os on it and booted to it and it worked so its HD failure.

  • Love the bg music, whats it called?!

Also that globe+folder with question mark is saying "I Cant Find the system installation" meaning it cant find your OS X installation on the hard drive!

You might need to reinstall the OS

  • I have a problem too do have idea how can i fix it?

  • get a new HD.

  • the info on the hardrive is messed up so you have to reinstall leopard. close the computer then click option. Follow the on screen instructions. If I remeber correctly. This happened to me for panther.

  • You can go to the apple website and have an "aim-like" chat with a real apple professional, you could even send them this video and they will check it out. I used it before and it is really convenient and free.
