Impossible to understand without a modern "translation" (explanantion). And Shakespeare was 100s of years after Muhammad. But u are correct in that English translations of Quran contain extra words to make it more "palatable".

Early Arabic was written without vowels, and had no dots for letters which, without dots, look the same. The dots (and signs to indicate vowels) found in Arabic writing today are not found in early texts. This presents quite a dilemma to scholars trying to determine true meaning.

Did you know these sort of comparisons were used back then so ppl at the time could understand. Nobody knew the word for microganisms, especially in arabia, instead metaphorical language was used to help ppl understand at teh time.

Many meanings have been lost and in fact even people in Mecca and Medina were unclear about much of it and some of its meanings then even were hidden. Ya Sin or Elif Lam Min or Allah's "chair" or the "niche" words or phrases for which no language carries meaning. Because Allah doesn't sit down and heaven is not 3 dimensional. Allah says there are no comparisons. If there is a "throne" there is comparison.
if someone says "allah sits on a throne" in english, i'm pretty sure people are smart enough to understand it's metaphorical, you don't need to know arabic to get the point.

what think ive notice is that if you learn Islam from its original sources, i.e. Quran and the Hadith of the prophe scw you know that Islam gives more rights to women than any othe religion, the rights women have in Islam is far greater than acutally potrayed. the west always shows how Muslim men opress their women, and if you go to these Muslim countries you will see. not in a huge scae, but women are been opressed by men, simply because these men are refusing women the rights...
Even in the 'garden of Eden', God had created Adam and Eve (a man and a woman) to be together. Men and women are different physically, mentally, etc. To deny that would be to deny modern discoveries. Islam recognises this and so they have different rights and responsibilities. A pen and a piece of paper are different but they are both equally, valuably needed to write. If you choose not to marry or have children, that's a personal choice and not a reason to deny Islam.
You seem to be under the illusion that women's rights in Islam are not respected. If that was true, why is it that more women convert to Islam then men? Don't tell me that they were 'brainwashed' - rather, they realised that only Allah awards them with the rights that they deserve.
So what if modern science has discovered that all embryos start off as females? My friend, that neither proves nor disproves that a man was created first, because Adam (pbuh) obviously didn't require the womb of a woman to be created by God - Adam (pbuh) was most likely created whole.

What does Islam think of never married women? I am a 45 year old straight woman who was interested in marrying a certain man. When he developed cancer, he was no longer interested in this because he thought he would be a burden. (He died later.) I live alone, used to work (am unemployed currently) and never have had children. I'm not interested in converting to Islam. @MrCalathea people translate for many reasons. the word in arabic in mecca in the time of mohammed [saws] never meant 'beat' it meant talk, walk, march, leave, and it meant make love or have sex. make a loud noise. it meant discuss. it meant to come to agreement by negotiation. the dutch translator just did not know. or did not want to know. most translations of quran are political. not scholarly. and few islamic scholars ever learn european languages.

@isafakir But Mansuur Hallaj a known sufi was rightfully accused of heresy when he claimed that "Allah was in his clothes and in his turban" even in his book Kitab e tawasin, if i understood correctly, he described iblees in somewhat of a sympathetic tone. One must apply a human aspect to the Quran as well as every other religious testament. Maybe the Quran vouches for domestic violence but only after XYZ criteria are met. But as stated this is never how domestic violence occurs.

Impossible to understand without a modern "translation" (explanantion). And Shakespeare was 100s of years after Muhammad. But u are correct in that English translations of Quran contain extra words to make it more "palatable".

@RockStudioLive You're absolutely correct, I am NOT an English scholar. In a clumsy way I was trying to point out how all writing changes with time. And especially Arabic. Early Arabic was written without vowels, and had no dots for letters which, without dots, look the same. The dots (and signs to indicate vowels) found in Arabic writing today are not found in early texts. This presents quite a dilemma to scholars trying to determine true meaning.

Did you know these sort of comparisons were used back then so ppl at the time could understand. Nobody knew the word for microganisms, especially in arabia, instead metaphorical language was used to help ppl understand at teh time.

Many meanings have been lost and in fact even people in Mecca and Medina were unclear about much of it and some of its meanings then even were hidden. Ya Sin or Elif Lam Min or Allah's "chair" or the "niche" words or phrases for which no language carries meaning. Because Allah doesn't sit down and heaven is not 3 dimensional. Allah says there are no comparisons. If there is a "throne" there is comparison.

Even in the 'garden of Eden', God had created Adam and Eve (a man and a woman) to be together. Men and women are different physically, mentally, etc. To deny that would be to deny modern discoveries. Islam recognises this and so they have different rights and responsibilities. A pen and a piece of paper are different but they are both equally, valuably needed to write. If you choose not to marry or have children, that's a personal choice and not a reason to deny Islam.

What does Islam think of never married women? I am a 45 year old straight woman who was interested in marrying a certain man. When he developed cancer, he was no longer interested in this because he thought he would be a burden. (He died later.) I live alone, used to work (am unemployed currently) and never have had children. I'm not interested in converting to Islam. How is the quran so clear then if all of you always need someone else's explanation for verses and not only that, rarely you find 2 ppl who have the SAME explanation? Islam is the religion of PEACEEEEEE. There's always a different explanation for any obvioust wrong in the quran. Always, either with the violence againt women, or with the 4 marriages, or with the killing of an adulterous woman. etc etc. Why is this even up for discussion?? your wife is not a 3 years old, she is an adult, you fool

do you read greek aramaic 10th century BCE hebrew? Do you read sanskrit? Do you read any language of any books of scripture? s-l-m in any arabic dictionary means peace just like the same word in hebrew sholom. sh-l-m. just as in english: peace pacific peaceful pacifist peaceable pacify pacification pacifier. peace is the word which best translates hebrew sh-l-m and the same word in arabic s-l-m salam islam muslim. peace.

He does not say that, Muslim men CAN hit their wives but only under very strict circumstances that necessitate it. Men are protectors over women and if circumstances are such that physical expression is the only way to discipline then it is permissible...
However some scholars also interpret this verse as being physchological and not physical...

Why? That is how Allah has created us, we as men have that responsibility to finance our homes, to protect our family and to lead the family as a head figure. Taking into account the absence of the Father (due to work) the Wife being a mother is the central pillar in the family, she is responsible for the education, for her own financial income and for the nurturing of the child...
We respect and want to preserve family structure. Domestic work in the home should be shared out.

No Allah has created men and then Women...have a look in the mirror, you are different in so many ways to a man. Our psychology, our physiology and so on...
Islam takes in that into consideration. The women being inherently at a advantage over men due to her womb (bring nurture, compassion, mercy) spiritually she has a priority over her children. She has that bond between her and her children.

A man's natural strength and mental disposition is more suited for our door works, the daily affairs..the merchantman, the laboured toils...
I would feel very pathetic If I remained at home with my children instead of working out doors to feed my children..(If I was married)
The wife would probably want to help assist the husband in working but Islam does not force the wife to burden her self outdoors...she has a priorities which are essential for the child's well-being.
