  • The intro to this song puts me in a trance. Gojira is kind of epic in that way.

the rest of the time well... it's a free-for-all out there, in the pit. whatever happens, happens!

  • fucking love this band...

  • thumbs up for the duplantier bros.

  • it sounds like the whale has mde all the buildings fall down

  • hands down one of the most beautiful intros to a song ever in my opinion. love it.

  • I want them to play the intro again... The atmospheric side of the song disappears when it's not played imo.

But still, the part @ 6:13 is the best thing ever played live.

  • profits from their next 5 song EP go to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Buy it. Jam and save some whales.

  • this song is sick.

  • Putain Gojira devrait être encore plus connus tellement leurs musiques sont bien :p

  • 6:11 onwards....I had a whiplash............

  • this is gojira, and this is one of a few bands that represents power,,, death metal power motherfucker!

  • look at all that head banging in the front

  • the bass line to this song is so smooth and sexy.

  • I've seen them three times now one of my favorite bands of all time I can't believe how awesome they all are only met them once tho, made them stop on the way back to their tour bus. Got to wait outside in the cold till 1 in the morning but it was worth it!

  • @jewtastic71 Gonna do the same^^. Me and a buddy is travelling 7 hours with train and gonna sleep on the streets to the next morning after the Gojira concert, then travel 7 hours back again. Hope so fucking much to meet them after the concert

  • this song gives me fucking chills. =)

  • Saw these boys on the first show of their headline tour of USA. Pretty sick, only complaint was that they slowed down the tempo on both Flying Whales and Love (the drummer's cymbal came loose or some shit because Mario is fucking insane...) unfortunately, two of my favorite tunes by these dudes.

  • I had the exact opposite problem when I saw them live in Dublin, they played WAY too fast.

  • they dnt play fast lol

  • it's very very hard to find another band that is tighter than gojira live!!!!!

  • well, you can't really compare any of these bands with Gojira. each have their style.

  • what a crowd :)

  • DUDE!!! they're monsters on that stage man!! Look at em go!!! WHALE METAL!!!!

  • this drummer has perfect timing

  • Yeah but i think its normal if band is profesional :)

  • 2:37 awesome riff

  • september 15th. 10 DAYS! till i see them lamb of god and the mother of ALL. METALLICA

  • I went to the Nashville show on the 14th :)

Is it just me or was Metallica twice as loud as the other two? Wish they'd put all three bands through the same system...

  • Openers have always half (or quarter) of the sound system...Saw them 6times in france as headliners sound was totally unbelivable

  • i love this part 4:45

  • is pretty good band....(this is the first time i listen this band...)

  • Motherfuckin awesome song........motherfuckin awesome band....love this band...

  • Amazing song to see live, I wish they did the intro when I saw them though.

  • tooootally. FANTASTIC live, GREAT performers and even said hi to me barely 60 seconds before walking on stage! Seriously. Great great stuff here. Mandatory listening.

  • Same thing happened to me:( A guess you also saw them as a guest band?

  • Nope, headliner.

  • epic drumz

  • fuckin amazing song

  • Sickness xD

  • hah awesome band

  • who cares. a good band is a good band. this is a good band

  • c'était au usa ?

    in usa ?

  • I HAVE TO FIND THE WHALES!

  • WHALES!!!!

  • their drummer has such a sick style. he fucking rips it.

  • intro is awsome. XD Gojira!!!

  • fuck it, anyone who is gonna say gojira is going mainstream and what the fuck else, take a minute or two and listen to the new record and tell me what part of that sounds like a generic metal band....

  • im terrified of whales

  • lol?

  • Haha, why?

  • They just terrify me

  • dude, whales are fucking awesome, lol. i saw a blue whale once. its amazing how graceful those huge fucking things are

  • yeah and so fucking sexy damn wish to get one on my bed

  • @IAMME000 Whales are delicious!

  • Saw these guys last night in Glasgow, they were fucking amazing!!!

  • 4:18

Now I can see the whales! Looming out of the dark! Like arrows in the sky! I can't believe my eyes!

    My fav part =D

  • i love when it picks up, thats a cool beat- the drummer is good

  • guys in flames and gojira are two completely differnt types of music, and by trying to dis in flames by saying things like and clean singing is gay... your retarded, gojira does clean singing fairly frequently, what people dont realize is that an arguement on youtube isnt going to change anyones mind over anything, so really just stop...

  • Fairly frequently? Two MAYBE three out of nearly fifty songs since Terra Incognita constitutes "fairly frequently"? Gross exaggerations aside, the problem isn't so much clean singing itself, as it is with the format used. Guttural/screamed lyrics followed by a melodic clean sung chorus...rinse and repeat and what do you get? Mainstream metalcore garbage! I'm not trying to change anyone's minds, just stating observations as objectively as I can even tho Gojira is easily one of my fav bands.

  • Gojira shreds and that is all I can say.

  • gojira and in flames if you listen to them both sound a little alike, but what they sing about is totaly different

  • Why does everyone keep comparing Gojira with In Flames? Because they played together? Then why not compare every pair of bands that have played together then?

  • I love Gojira. They're impossibly catchy.

    - Adam

  • This song isn't music, it's an experience.

  • Too true. When I read the "This song isn't music..." part I was like "FLAME WAR!" But then I read the rest. And I agree.

    Its a journey.

  • Absolutely.

  • this song is so beautiful i love it so much

it's so spiritual to listen to. i love every second that i listen to this band

  • Every damn Gojira video I go to, there's a damn discussion involving In Flames.

  • holy shit.

feb 17th was my 18th birthday. HA!

  • their intro is so inspiring. Pure genius.

  • It's not about musical heaviness, heaviness comes from speed, mix, and intensity. Do you hear Gojira? They are tight. In Flames Death Melodic Metal, Gojira Progressive Thrash,Heavy Death Metal

  • there were many shirtless dudes in that pit. good show...good show

  • i saw many people get murder in the 12/7/08 show. good times. best show I been to in a while.

  • Dude! I saw these guys live on December 5th. with in flames and crazyfists. Gojira was the best, they kicked ass. They played every song i wanted! oroboros clone backbone flying whales sone song i did not recognize toxic garbage island some other kickass sons that i did not know then vacuity and finished up with to sirius Kickass playlist and show. I was in the second row!
  • i was there bro. in flames was better man, but they're my favorite band so maybe i'm partial, idk. i was in the mosh and got knocked down by some big ass shirtless dude.. left shoe went flying, i got kicked in the face, and it was awesome, lol.

  • Dude!

Were you near the mosh pit when they played take this life and come clarity?

Cuz ithink i know what you mean by the shirtless dude,

I was on the ring of the pit

  • i was near the middle the whole time during the in flames set. there were a few shirtless dudes (that's a given) but guy in question was bald and slightly hairy...

  • If by "in flames wuz better man", you mean that Gojira didn't do any songs chock full of Dragonforce inspired riffs and melodic bitch singing choruses; then yes you are correct. In Flames is tampon metal.

  • no, i mean in flames is a better live band and they put on a better performance asshole. Gojira is good, but their drummer was the only decently impressive part of their band. and Dragonforce inspired riffs??? wtf are you talking about? GTFO.

  • Your commenting on a GOJIRA video you fucking retard. Go spout your fanboy bullshit on an in flames video with the rest of the nancies.

  • In Flames > Gojira

    prove me wrong

  • Crunching riffs, pounding blast beats, insane build ups, and guttural vocals > Overdone guitar solo's and melodic choruses....In Flames is a heavier version of Linkin Park and as such are a dime a fuckin dozen.

  • In Flames helped build an entire genre (subgenre) of metal.. I don't see Gojira making any notable innovations at all.

I do like Gojira, and both Gojira and In Flames were amazing at Terminal 5 last week, but Gojira can't fuck with In Flames, they're undeniable legends.

  • That's a stupid argument. I list specific characteristics about the bands music and you respond by claiming In Flames created a metal subgenre. Have you looked up how many subgenre's metal has? There's 9 million of them...sing about leprechauns, you created Irish metal...sing about steaks, you created Beef metal. If you think of a legitimate reason why In Flames are "legends" let me know.

  • If creating an entire subgenre that is among the more popular and successful ones today isn't a legitimate argument in this case, I don't know what is.

Granted that In Flames have taken a turn for the worse in the past few years, you can't deny that albums like The Jester Race, Whoracle, and Colony are amazing melodic death metal albums. If you don't like those, it's pretty safe to say you don't like the genre altogether.

  • What gave you the impression that I like melodic death metal. As I said before you In Flames fans are posting on a Gojira video. I like Gojira. Gojira is death metal. And it's safe to assume that since I like death metal, when a band such as In Flames comes along and takes death metal and in essence "pussifies" it by adding britney spears choruses I will hate that band and the entire subgenre they helped shat into existence. Please talk about In Flames on their videos. This is getting stupid.

  • lol britney spears choruses

As I said, those first 3 albums are their better albums. Their recent stuff contains said "britney spears" choruses, but in those 3 albums there is no singing at all, just growling, mixed with melodic elements that make the song much more catchy and more pleasing to the ear.

    Way to be open-minded btw.

  • they do suck but theyre first album is amazing. dude btw gojira does "pussify" alot of their shit

  • I never said Gojira was the heaviest band on the planet but they're damn sure heavier than In Flames.

  • im not saying in flames was heavier. lunar strain is arguable though. it just sounded like u were trashing them. which u rightly did so. there new stuff is horrible. mixed vocals suck. but lunar strain is a sick album.

  • bullshit i created beef metal

  • Heres a reason why they are legends - they have some of the most loyal fans of the time. Also they are fucking hard working gigging up to like 200 times a year... not to mention 9 albums in 16 years... rawr pwnd.

  • I really don't wanna keep whack-a-mole'ing In Flames fans on a godamn Gojira video. I've heard all the arguments for why I should like In Flames's vagina metal, but I don't. Sorry, never gonna happen. Rawr? >_>

  • i dont know why your calling in flames vagina metal, vaginas are a good thing, in flames kicks ass, sure their latest album was kinda calmer and a tiny bit gay but clayman, colony, whoracle, the jester race and soundtrack were fucking masterpeices

  • In flames = vagina metal.

    vagina = pussy

    In flames = pussy metal.

Hope that cleared any confusion. :)

  • Listen to some of their older stuff, aka pre-Reroute to Remain.

  • Trigger is In Flames best song

  • It's their best song since they started incorporating clean vocals into their music, aka post-Clayman.

  • Saw In Flames recently. Damn. Live is a lot harder than Studio. IMO. Stuido cleans it up too much. Bjorn Did a lot of Growling too. Their sound was very clear as well. It was the only band the crowd cheered, "one more song."... Don't tell me that isn't metal. Both of these bands are excellent. Music is Entertainment. Entertainment is Art. Both of them are great artists. Enough Said.

  • Agreed. I hate it when people say shit like that or use the term "true metal".

  • ''Entertainment is art'' ..Heat magazine is entertainment. Your calling heat magazine art? wow ok.

  • You = gay

  • Im straight but thanks.

  • sry about the second comment but i no that if i forgot to say i love gojira people would go crazy flame on my ass

  • 9 albums?!?! what are they called? i only have terra incognita

    from mars to sirius

    the link

    the way of all flesh

or do those 9 albums include live albums?

  • I meant in flames 9 albums :) gojira have 3 i think... maybe 4. not too sure

  • i used to be a huge in flames fan but they have drastically changed there music to be more main stream. anything after soundtrack sux and the one b4 it (cant think of the name) is absolute garbage it sounds like a bunch of bad action movie songs

  • In Flames has degenerated in mainstream garbage. Deny all you want, it's true. Once a band makes it onto GH3 its mallcore.

  • not in all cases Ncrophagist? they are feind but are they mainstream? nope

  • Doesn't change anything to the music, so your argument is void.

  • Yes it does. As soon as something goes mainstream, it begins become more user friendly. So In Flames is now mallcore, whether you like it or not.

  • Ehm, mallcore is a form of music, so you're saying that having a song on GH is a form of music? Good reasoning there.

And yeah it's true In Flames got more mainstream/mallcore, but I still respect them for making Jester Race and their other older works.

  • yup, unfortunately

  • awesome, gojira fuckin' rules

  • they teach me how to fly!

  • i just started listening to theses guys today and i'm really impressed with their music - it reminds me of opeth and mastodon and like tool mixed together with its own style. anyway does this band have any solos in their songs? oh and flying whales is the fucking best name for a song!!!

  • this band gives me chills everytime i hear them.. pff, very unique. very powerful.

  • fuk yea!!!!!! this song is beyond badasss its epic

  • What is that Mario is drumming on at the beginning of the video. I'm no drummer but I'm curious.

  • i get to mosh to this tomorrow cant wait!!!!!!

  • @harveststudios

go look at Gojiras official myspace. under their influences they mention metallica, so STFU

  • one of the gnarliest songs Ive ever heard.

  • Gojira isn't influenced by Metallica jesus christ, there's no resemblance as ALL.

None of you have ever payed much attention to this amazing band have you?

  • ahem, i suggest you try typing "gojira and metallica" into google

"I was into SEPULTURA and IRON MAIDEN, but Metallica to me was really like a life-saver. I could walk to high school with Metallica on my Walkman and not feel so alone, so alien. I knew there were other people who felt the same way I did, that I could relate to. And that was very inspiring to me when I started playing music myself." - Joe

  • I KNOW. I'VE READ THAT BEFORE.

He's talking about relating his music to the listeners dumbfuck, Gojira presents a meaning. Their music is NOTHING SIMILAR TO METALLICA. He simply likes them as a teen and figured he should relate to others as well.

  • Well... no it's not, it's Joe talking about what he thinks of Metallica, you could therefore argue that Metallica were an influence on Gojira, just by the very fact Joe was into them, where ever or not you think they sound like them is subjective.... so in your opinion they sound nothing similar to Metallica, but then again as you reply to youtube comments calling the person "dumbfuck", i'm not entirely sure whether or not i should even heed your opinion.

  • Gojira are inspired by Morbit angles, Metallica and Meshuggah you can read that on Myspace.. And no it doesn't sound like Metallica..

  • Gojira has been the best revalation for me. They just created a new style of heavy metal. They don't try to be "cliche" (talk about death and stuff, display metal look and attitude) but their sound is damn HEAVY, ACCURATE, POWERFUL, CREATIVE...I just love them !

  • im guessing that you just have a really bad sense of humor ...

  • metallica has sucked for twenty years just lik ur momz...

  • These guy's music is influenced by metallica just so you know, and obviously you dont know the meaning of EMO, because if you listen to any of their songs its the exact opposite. This band has a positive message, unlike mudvayne.

  • These guy's music is influenced by metallica just so you know, and obviously you dont know the meaning of EMO, because if you listen to any of their songs its the exact opposite. This band has a positive message, unlike mudvayne.

  • saw them last night at the carling academy, their new stuff is sounding fucking awesome!!

They played this song really well, but they cut the intro out and went str8 into guitar and drum build up bit... i suppose they had more songs to get through and needed to save on time

  • Damn,i just love how the guitar sound enters in 2:20 xD

This is one of my favorite songs.

  • fuckin incredible i cannot wait for The Way of All Flesh! its gonna be amazing!

  • i fuckin love these guys, soon everyone will know em

  • omg these guys r gonna rule the world. best metal band around atm. thats not comin from a blind fanboy either, ive got into alot of bands over the years and these guys are the real deal.

  • im the same dude im 28 and have heard a lot of metal in the past. there is so much shit out there now but they are one ray of hope. i hate how metal is merging with emo imaging and metalcore generic riffs.

  • enough said :D

  • I KNOW. lots of generic shit merging into the same old crap we dont wanna here. these guys (similar to opeth) are really goin at the progressiveness that attracts true metalheads.

  • saw them in calgary with lamb of god, trivium and machine head, they were fukin tight!!

  • That Frkn opening Riff is SOOOOOOOOOOOO SICK

  • hell yeah!

  • I'd have to say right now these guys are par with In Flames, although In Flames has been around longer, the chord progressions and overall production done on both bands album's is exceptional. I remember hearing this song on XM and turning it up to an uncomprehensive level. From 4:00 to 4:45 is my favorite part. I'm looking forward to hearing more of them in the coming years. Also saw them with Katatonia, Insomnium, and Swallow the Sun, what a great fucking concert

  • in flames dosnt come close to gojira

  • i totally 100% agree bkr1212

  • I think in flames is better actually.

It all depends on your tastes...

(though i dont like their 2 new albums)

  • i remeber seein them in 07 i think with Annihilator (i think) trivium and a few other bands

  • Probably one of the heaviest bands out there.

  • most powerful metal band since B.Sabbath?

  • i have to say that Gojira use extremely powerful and heavy sounds, because thats how they want to sound, unlike pantera who took to a more shred sound but they also have some powerful songs(not as powerful as Gojira). but there isn't any point in comparing gojira to pantera both are very different though both fucking rule \,,/ (then again its all a matter of opinion)

  • true but over all power pantera's last stuff would have killed gojira(but that's my opinion)

  • pantera is cool, but Gojira is like a killer whale smashing your brains...

  • true but pantera is like a raging texan smacking you with a guitar 700 times

  • both are great...pretty sure a killer whale is more brutal than a raging texan though...lol

  • saw them 2 years ago wit LoG, machinehead, and trivium(EEW)

gojira raped, best opening band i've ever seen, they were fucking awesome, i want to see them again

  • IM irish and i live on the west siiiieeeeeeddd

  • Deep under, in the Oceans of Japan... Gojira Awakens its Realm!

  • wtf lmao what u talking bout

  • Long live prog metal!!

  • combined with some kickass death \m/ (Opeth, Gojira, Decapitated, Necrophagist..)

  • You don't think Opeth or Gojira are progressive?
