If you want a professional flat iron and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, dual voltage, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair.

question : do you straighten your hair before hand? the ends of my hair are all messy when i curl them with a flat iron. is it better to wash hair immediately before? like in the monring, wait until it's dry and THEN straighten or is it the same with regular curling (the curl holds better if you haven't washed your hair super recently)

@tatyana17 I like it.. it works fine... i just don't like that when i'm spinning the flatiron to form the curl if you grab too high its gets hott.. so meaning you can feel it hott even though its not the plates.. (does that make sense) lol as for rate, i would say like 7/8... its wayy better than my CHI... i honestly think... it makes my hair really smooth and shiny too..
