lol We only put on this proud patriotic front once a year at the Last Night of the Proms. Then we go back to being quiet and toned tone..
There's something rather un-British about overt patriotism. I think people find it a bit creepy, like watching a pompous parade or show of force in a shouty/majestic country like North Korea or the United States.
Britain prefers to fit in and think of itself as just another country among many great countries.

Great Britain and America have done more good for the world in modern times than all the rest of the countries combined. Sad that nowadays, due to the imposition of a police state in Britain, Britons HAVE become slaves.
All those hard-won freedoms, tossed away as rubbish, gradually, one by one. Britons surveilled, subjected to the EU, subjected to unelected despots, guilty until proven innocent, without privacy, without dignity.

Thank you for your comments. However, don't worry about Britain. Every few centuries, the government of this country oversteps its bounds. In due course, it is put back in its box. And if you base your view of Britain on British media, you need to be aware that it is the British way to run down and disparage our own country. Even something like "Rule Britannia" is only meant in a tongue-in-cheek sense. The Last Night of the Proms is a kind of self-parody.
