I work with criminals daily. They have their own culture. One thing I would like to see the system do is try to destroy that culture when they are incarcerated. The system does not, their mentality is perpetuated in what are now understood to be gladiator schools. If you are sentenced to prison for any length of time, you will learn to fight, commit crimes of profit, or be victimized. Criminal training camps that release animals int our society.
'Public' humiliation when they are amongst their peers (in jail/prison) would be one way to break them down. It should be drilled into them how much of a failure they are to their families and society. How useless and weak they truly are, no job, no car, no house, often times no education, unable to function productively in society. Then we could build them back up to be productive people.
But there are many for whom it could work. The current system of coddling them does not work. Rehab, for those who do not want it, does not work. For those that do want it, they probably don't need it. What they do need is something to do constructive in their life to give them a sense of direction, pride, and the ability to provide for their families.
Violent offenders should be purged en masse from our system to make prisons a productive and safe environment.
Its my opinion our professional politicians have no incentive to fix the problem. 1.They live in relatively safe, crime free, bubbles. 2.The prison system has become a "growth industry" whos beneficiaries are Halliburton and other large influential companies who have many lobbyists in DC. 3. Big crime allows for Bigger Govt. which directly benefits politicians. They do not care about the health of our society at all. As long as they are making money off us.

Alright, I just looked him up on the Idaho Repository directly after I posted my previous comment. Although innocent until proven guilty, his charges are as follows: Controlled Substance- Delivery ; Controlled Substance- Possession of. The case was filed on 03/02/2011 and his next court appearance is 08/23/2011. I really dislike liars and people who give misinformation. This video is a lie! Mark is still in the court process for the above charges, you can't get arrested for making a documentary!

You should have asked his youtube audience to support treatment, instead you are lying to them about his arrest and scamming people out of money. I hope he gets 20 years if found guilty, but sadly, he will probably get closer to 10 in Federal Prison for the delivery charge. You scumbags need wiped off the earth!

Alright, I just looked him up on the Idaho Repository directly after I posted my previous comment. Although innocent until proven guilty, his charges are as follows: Controlled Substance- Delivery ; Controlled Substance- Possession of. The case was filed on 03/02/2011 and his next court appearance is 08/23/2011. I really dislike liars and people who give misinformation. This video is a lie! Mark is still in the court process for the above charges, you can't get arrested for making a documentary!

@PowderSkier30 I think aside from that, it's still crap that he's facing years in jail for something that shouldn't result in anything more than being sent to a rehab/detox center for a month or so, tops... but as far as being arrested goes, I've been arrested for meditating(in CA) and for calling bullsh*t on a cop bullying a woman and child(in MA). There's no rule of law in this country. If a pig doesn't like your face, they'll lie about the charges just to beat you.

My father in law, who sits on the county police board in his small northern community told me this when I had a cop harassing me for doing my job driving cab (Part of which is driving addicts to score. If I refused to take them it would be kidnapping.).

The fact of the matter is, the person who now controls the account and posted this video, is making a last minute lie. They are doing this with the false hope the courts will see all the people sending him letters claiming he is innocent. Or somthing similar to that.

This makes no sense. First off, Bannock County Jail is a jail, not prison! The only men's state correctional facilities are in Boise or Cottonwood. Second, what law did he break to result in an arrest? Nowhere in the video or comments has this question been answered. Sounds like he probably got arrested in Pocatello (meth capitol) and you are using this video as an excuse to find supporters for him while in jail. Tell the truth and I'm sure people will still support the cause.

America is the biggest, most oppressive prison state on earth. Only here would shit like this happen. China and Russia both have population figures that dwarf ours, and yet both of them combined have a smaller prison population than us. What's wrong with that picture? The goons in charge are basically the new Gestapo, busting people over trivial bullshit and locking them up, and we have to save good folks like Mark Donatelli from them.
