I've never seen this movie in English and now I've seen this one scene dubbed in Italian. Why did they not dub the Indians' war cries? Or do they roughly translate the same?

For so long, Indians were portrayed as dumb, bloodthirsty savages through battle scenes that made Indians look and sound like monsters. In DWW, Indians become heroes. The music and camera angles make the methods of Indian warfare romantically poetic. This epic film strongly counteracts almost a century's worth of film practice in one fell swoop. It's also fictional film, not a historical document. This film is awesome.
I'm glad the cavalrymen lost not because they were US soldiers, but because they were abusive sawed-off punks. Very bad men. The Sioux were defending their land, and their own.

The entire movie was shown to the entire older half of my elementary school - grades 3 - 7. Each arrow, spear, and tomahawk that buried itself in an American soldier brought about a loud cheer from every one of us!

yeah i definately know about that battle. it was another great victory against the US Cav. it is probably the indians' best known victory against american troops. the battle of rosebud was a great battle too, although the sioux were narrowly defeated in this event. but the battle of wabash is a little known event. granted, it WAS against american militia and not against fulltime soldiers, but it remains the the most decisive native american victory against americans.
yeah i fuckin love this scene cus it shows native americans massacering US soldiers. usually it was US soldiers firing on unarmed indians and massacering them, so it is nice to see a scene where the tables are turned. read up on the battle of wabash. this was the worst defeat suffered by americans at the hands of the native americans. american casualties were at 600 plus.

Yes I agree! Soldiers today are not bad people, the U.S. army now realizes what they have done. I even know a lot of native american U.S. soliers.

I also agree that some of todays soldiers arent bad, but sadly there are still many who are corrupt simply cause there with the military they try to justify anything wrong that they do.

i'm not trying to sound like a big tough guy but.. i'm pretty sure for any tribe living on the plains in those times,that moment was not really seen as sad,but a triumph for the kid. cus he took a smack in the face,& returned it with a blow,ten times worse. & u didn't even really explain yourself anyway.. u said "it was sad, becus he was hit just like that." i am a white canadian, w/ a 100% european blood, but definately, my favourite people in the world are the native americans, from north & south america. they are the most fascinating of all people, and held/hold some of the best values in mankind. i'm sure not very many people really care who i regard as the greatest of humans, but freedom of speach is a bitch i guess.

why? he got back up and then burried a hatchet in the dude's chest. what was so sad about that? he became a man. he seemed a little disturbed after killing a man, but i would have thought that that would have marked a proud moment in a warrior's life. every other kill would become easier. that pistol whip he took, only built character.

yeah i definately know about that battle. it was another great victory against the US Cav. it is probably the indians' best known victory against american troops. the battle of rosebud was a great battle too, although the sioux were narrowly defeated in this event. but the battle of wabash is a little known event. granted, it WAS against american militia and not against fulltime soldiers, but it remains the the most decisive native american victory against americans.

yeah i fuckin love this scene cus it shows native americans massacering US soldiers. usually it was US soldiers firing on unarmed indians and massacering them, so it is nice to see a scene where the tables are turned. read up on the battle of wabash. this was the worst defeat suffered by americans at the hands of the native americans. american casualties were at 600 plus.
