  • I think Laura has great potential, at the moment her game doesn't have enough variety to challenge the seeded players on a regular basis but she is still young. If she takes her time to perfect her strengths and work on her weaknesses she will no doubt be playing in the top 40 in a few years time.

  • Awesome. Happy to see a white british tennis player for a change. I'd watch white British players and support them everytime - black, nope.

  • Lertcheewakarn easily has the best serving face in the women's game

  • Where is she now? Yet another wasted talent.

  • @iMidnightSkies if you keep ranting, it wont get any better

    Perfect Forehand o.0

  • Laura seems to be very talented but to be honest I don't see nothing exceptionnal in her game than the rest of WTA... Just another 11 000 000th player that plays in cadences, has little to no spins e.g slice, very little net play... and her footwork is atrocious luckily she's just 16 and great perspective for evolution - her ballstricking though is amazing.

  • @hugobosstachini i sort of agree, her movement is awful. But she has improved her game's variety a fair bit over time. She slices her backhand, sometimes loops shots, and she can volley quite well now.

  • @falks941 Her movement is awful because of her tall height at a young age. With time she will use that height to overpower players.

  • My two nationalities battling it out here, love it :D

  • Laura is definitely the British Ivanovic, especially with that visor-plait thing going on.

  • haha i love when they zoom in on the other girl's face during her serve.

  • Wow! She is extremely talented!

  • I love Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, she's a great grass court player and she won the double jnr's in 2009!

  • several women have won wimbledon at 16,truth is shes just another snotty nosed talentless brit who will acheive nothing

  • She took Jankovic to a breaker, 6-3 7-6, And beat MJM.Sanchez, big Talent.

  • i can't believe she got jelena jankovic in the first round this year the seeded four. hope she goes out there and gives it absolutely everything and goes for winners through out which she will have to do.

  • @JTennisVids thats 2 years in a row she has had a really tought first round. hantuchova last year. i hope she does herself proud anybody can beat anybody on their day.

  • @idontsignin Dude she was 15 and now she 16... no girl plays at this level at that age...

  • @UnderDog988 what you talking about

  • and ive uploaded highlights of her win over martinez sanchez at the hopman cup this year, not a tour event but u damn well sure maria didn't want to lose to a 15 year old which laura was at the time, laura just blew her away in the first set 6-1

  • She needs more power though.

  • LAURA IS GAY...FUCK

  • lertcheewakarn is crap

  • i give her 2 years to develope, get stronger and faster and she will be there or there abouts. she shouldnt listen to what the press has to say, just do your thing laura and you will get there.

  • That Noppawan whatsherface is so annoying. The noise she makes and the face she makes when she serves are so annoying!

  • I just hope she pushes on in the next few years and shows some of the potential she has. If not, she will be labelled as another British flop.

  • not being rude but this girl looks awful!

  • Oh my, Noppawan Lertcheewakarn has a very short reach. Double forhand + bckhand and she hitsthe ball very close to the body.

  • laura has done nothing NOTHING since here she is so overated

  • @NoMoreMrNiceGuyBitch she reached the final of the australian open juniors 2 years in a row losing ONLY to players older than her

  • @NoMoreMrNiceGuyBitch You clearly don't follow tennis closely. She has won her first senior title, is close to the worlds top 300 and beat a player in the top 30

  • Michelle defeated Robson at the final of the Orange Bowl

  • Dude, didn't Sharapova win Wimbledon when she was 16 or 17? And Graf won the Golden Grand Slam when she was 19. So I agree, I can't see what's so extraordinary about her. She's talented, granted, but I think it's just the UK's desperation for a Grand Slam champion that's giving her so much attention.

  • There is certainly a lot of potential here, and hearing some of her interviews i think she has the drive to do great things!! Good luck Laura!!

  • this is complete domination.

  • it must be her aussie genes ;)

  • While I don't deny she's got a considerable amount of talent, she's getting way too much attention and opportunities mostly due to her nationality. She's 16, yes, but she's yet to score a single WTA main draw win, something lots of others had achieved at her age. So I cannot see anything sensational at the moment. And yesterday she lost the juniors final, so she's not dominant in that category either. I hope I'm proven wrong, but so fat I fail to see what's so extraordinary about Laura Robson.

  • @zim83 no but she did beat a top 30 player in straight sets in the hopman cup sanchez the first set 6-1 it may not be a wta tour event but both wanted to win sanchez did not want to lose to a 15 year old at the time she's 16 now but that win to me shows she can become a top player it was not a fluke!

  • well she beat maria jose martinez sanchez who is world number 25 at hopman cup. thats pretty good for a 16 year old.

  • and she was 15 when she beat Maria it still makes a difference lol

  • @nickyn4 Again, that's not an official competition. So far, zero wins in WTA Tour main draws. I guess she'll get better, but just ease up the pressure a little bit. Oh, and Larcher De Brito is another overhyped, overrated Bolletieri product.

  • when you thrash your opponent 6 - 0 6 - 1 in the juniors you know you belong in seniors lol laura was phenominal in the australian juniors today can't wait to see if she can reach the semis of the womens doubles theres a nice check coming after reach the quarters of the doubles

  • She has an awesome ball-striking like Ana Ivanovic in her best days but seems quite slow on the court with an average footwork...If she improves that, and i wish she will, i think she can be top-five player.

It would be a delight to see her emerge at top-level coz she's cute, funny and doesn't grunt!!

  • i agree with yo about the foot work but that can be improved and the left handed serve helpsd

  • the girl laura played in the semifinals that year was a bitch under arm serve and everything i don't have the full match only the last games

  • is it just me? she looked a bit like chakvetadze from the side. (not the style of play)

  • ive finally got a video highlights of laura vs hantuchova at wimbledon from last year :)

  • she gave sabine lisicki a good game in her latest hopman cup match lost in straight sets but 1st set was a tiebreaker

  • haha......I`d love her to set up a serena clash!!! Oh please, english tennis players equal midevil electricity!!

  • @JamieOwen3 The Hopman Cup is an exhibition tournament, not an official WTA competition, so it's not a valid tool to measure her form. Just last week, she lost in the first round of an 25,000$ tournament, to an American ranked outside the top-300. As I said, no doubt she's talented, but I think the media are just giving her too much attention due to her nationality. Heather Watson, well, I fear she'll be a top-50 at best.

  • @zim83 Robson herself is ranked outside the top-300, so the defeat wasn't a major setback.

  • @mattkris2007 It is for someone who is consistently labelled as a future champion by an abrassive press. Also last week she was thrashed in another ITF tournament by an Argentine in the 200s. Hardly the results of past champions when they started in the senior circuit. Again, I fear this publicity hurts her and can end up being annoying for those following tennis seriously.

  • @zim83 Actually the argentinian that beat her is only a few places higher than her, and it was only Robsons 3rd match since mid January. She has now qualified in Dothan and so has some confidence to progress.

  • @mattkris2007 Yes, good ITF results in the US for her since the last time I was here, she managed to move a few places up in the rankings. Anyway, just yesterday she went out in the first round of qualifying in Strasbourg, against a player ranked lower than her.

  • @zim83 u seem to be obsessed with pointing out when she loses but what about her winning? and strasbourg was a clay tournament not her best by far so i wouldn't be surprised if it took longer for her to get the results on that surface.

  • People saying she beat MJMS Lol Maria isn't a reference on the tour in terms of tennis - I think a better barometer would be against players like Wozniacki to not set the standards too high.

@zim83 I kind of have to agree I just hate when medias are fast to overhype overrate players for them to epically fail. At 16 and after having watched more than 10 years tennis I've sure seen better accomplishments than Laura at same age but she seems promising who knows when she breakthroughs.

  • i thought i was the only one who thinks that she plays like Ivanovic.

  • laura and andy murray hopman cup team can't wait to see how she does in her singles match go laura!

  • I was wondering how Noppawan got into the finals in the first place. She was just pushing throughout the match. Laura could have won in straights.

  • I hope in the future she can add more variety to her game and add some volleying skills

  • she reminds me of a lefty ana ivanovic

  • she IS truly a talented girl and I like how she's now interchanging her schedual to include pro events too even though she could still compete in Juniors full time, she's very mature! I want her to do so well and I'm not even British! I just like watching her play and she seems so nice, good luck Laura!!

  • noppawan won it this year didn't she.she was 16 here laura 14 laura played great tennis last year at wimbledon Laura and Heather future of GB women's tennis Heather seems to be doing great!

  • @SharapovaVideos Nope. Robson won, actually. Noppawan won it the next year.

  • @7399me lol that comment was made in 2009, the year noppawan won. that's what i was saying in that comment, when i said laura played great last year i was talking about 2008 ;)

  • @JamieOwen05 Oh, ok. Gotcha.

  • やべえかわいいw めちゃうまいじゃんかーーーい

    将来いや今からもうファンになります

  • She plays like Ana Ivanovic.

  • Fantastic video! Thanks for posting.

And it is GREAT to see a Brit I'll be able to cheer for in the future! What an amazing talent she is!
