@jb140 left tackles really shouldn't be hitting a DT unles a tight-end is taking on the defensive end, even in that situation they shouldnt really be blocking a DT they should be hitting the DE.
@dontuenvyme That depends on plays and on how the defensive line is lined up. I myself play as O-guard, O-tackle, and D-Tackle. As an offensive tackle, usually I'm gettint the outside linebacker, but that will change to a D-Tackle should he line up on me. For offensive, you block whoever is the biggest threat to your position or to the play. It won't always be the same as who you block in a practice.
51 you dont step with that foot, stepping with that foot requires you to turn your shoulders, and if the d-lineman makes contact with you while your shoulders are turned, your already beat. you need to take a flat step with your right foot and work up
zone blocking is beautiful when ran correctly the whole line just flows in a 90 degree fashion, working 1st-2nd level where the tackle usually takes on the DT and guard working to second level blocking the linebacker, while the HB looks for cut back lanes in the formation. when we did it, we would actually call a line backer so everybody knew what they were doing or who they were working to try and block keeping your head up and on a swivel is key for the o line
Thanks I also play football at a small private school. I am a Senior and this is my last year playing football what do I need to do to be a starter? I work hard, show up to every practice and have determination. Thanks for the video.
No better way to teach a bunch of kids who've never played football before then a guy in high stake circumstances.

looking good....the zone is a great blocking scheme. block the area not the man. you can't go wrong.

I like the way you teach it, but I always have my uncovered linemen make a "you-me call' in regard to the backer.
