I agree. It is very awkward when you hear a girl proclaim that she wants to be someone else's prince.

But she did changed the lyrics in a way that it was still good...but the meaning was lost.

In Michael's version, he does from saying "I want to be" to "I have to be" and then "I will be"

But Joey only says "I have to be" every time.

In my opinion, the meaning is sorta lost in this version, though I do love it.

maybe they should have changed the lyrics to the girl point of view. But again you cant really compare the two. This is sung by a girl vocal and the other by a guy vocal. Overall I like the both versions and btw there is many different versions to this song. Joey has a really powerful voice.

joey's a good singer, but the prob is, as w/ most of the current hk singers, she sings w/ empty emotions. they don't sing frm their heart. i doubt they pay attention to the lyrics. they shld have changed the lyrics to this song so it will be a girl's point of view. Michael's version is better because it resonated; it touches you. the song is abt a guy's promise to protect the one he loves. heck, right now, i have Joey singing how she will be my prince. errmmm...that's just not right.

Well you really can't say that one is better than another. This version not only has a strong feminine touch, it also has a different orchestration. Different instruments produce a different affective value, along with the differences in Michael's voice and Joey's voice. Not only that, but there were added strings and percussions and the piano wasn't that evident in this version. Joey also put different accents on the words and does change it a bit. But all in all, both versions are awesome.

I agree, you cant really compared the two. Its two different people singing it. Once a boy and the other is a girl. Obviously when you hear two different version it would be totally different. Joey sang it very well and when I heard this it was like a totally different atmosphere. They have different vocals and one is higher and stronger and the other is lower and rare. Joey has a powerful voice and both version are really good. I like both versions and they both sang it well.

you really can't compare the two versions. Obviously, one is sang by a guy and other, a girl. You get two kinds of feelings resulting from this dissimilarity. GuangLiang has a rare masculine softness to his voice and Joey has the strong feminine sound.

Personally, I love the instrumentation of this performance, it makes it so much more state prone.

Both of them sound very beautiful so don't bother comparing the two.

I like Joey's version - it really suits her voice. Also better emotions and 'biw ching'(cantonese)The instrumentals are great, pity the orchestra don't know what she is singing about. I can't stand the crying and other voice interference in Guang Liang's version - it ruins an otherwise very nice piece. But 5 stars to Guang for composing this great song.

i think the ending of each one of that last key change would have been more of an impact if she had did what the original singer had done and instead of going up to a high note, hit the one before that and then back down, and saved that going up for the very last time it is sung.
