Faith" as preached today by most evangelicals is not the only thing required to attain salvation. We learn in Phil 3:8-13 Paul speaks of not really having yet attained salvation (vs 8 "that I may win Christ"- future tense vs 9 not having mine own righteousness...etc.. ), yet many evangelicals would argue that Paul was already saved (once saved - always saved garbage) see also Mark 16:16 and ponder it.

@Ingle92protege But declaring it is doctrinal does not automatically make it doctrinal, in order for something to become officially doctrinal, it must be agreed upon by the 12 before it can pass into that, thus anything a prophet says is considered opinionated until it is comfirmed via the spirit before the 12, thus while we can record what he said and examine it for weither we decide to agree, it is by no means an official position nor even a requirement ot agree with it.
Your concept is flawed, because you seem to think that LDS blindly follow every word of the prophet, when in fact there is more organization in the church that Christ in his wisdom set up to prevent the natural fallacy of man from getting in the way of the work of the church. LDS believe in the fallability of prophets, they can be wrong, they can insert their own opinions into their words, but only those comfirmed by the apostles will ever change from opinion to doctrine.

@Ingle92protege here's the thing, there are guidelines otherwise everyone would be able to go to the temple. The same would apply in other sacred places like a mosque or temples in other cultures, there is a certain protocol or criteria that needs to be met. Being worthy to attend the temple is based on the same principles. Living the Word of Wisdom is one of them. One of the biggest fallacies is that if you are not temple worthy, then you are not a good person. That is so wrong.
@Ingle92protege I think the bishop would pray about it, and if he is prompted that you were worthy to enter then he would say so. From my experiance it is a case by case basis, not a 'you have to be exactly this way' basis.

He makes that decision based on your answers so if you lie, you may think you have got a ticket to the temple and nobody knows, but you are only lying to yourself. You talked about tattoos and piercings, you are correct, that is not doctrine but we believe our bodies are temples of God, and defiling it in any way is defiling the temple of God. It's personal choice again.
I have not always been an active and participating member even though I am a 5th generation member, a lot of my family are inactive and have left the church too, but they are still my family, we have just chosen different paths. I respect everyone's opinions and even though some good comments have been shared, demeaning another person's beliefs or religion is being disrepectful and does nothing to bring people together.

Personal choice, there is no force used and if people are saying 'yes' to those questions just so they can go to the temple, then they are only fooling themselves. It was my choice to be temple worthy, I was willing to do all that was necessary because that is what I wanted for me and my family.

Michael Watson made a statement according to his own understanding, and then at the direction of the First Presidency later clarified/corrected his statement to indicate that while many Latter-day Saints have expressed opinions about the location of Cumorah (or other Book of Mormon geography issues), the Church has no official geography. No revelatory basis exists for any geographical scheme outside of the Book of Mormon text itself.
It is never wise to argue about doctrine unless there are no cows to come home, one never wins just look at history, almost every war was fought over religion. IMHO it is far more important to nurture values, doing good to others, living by example and personal testimony than to argue about doctrine. Doctrine is already written, your personal testimony is something that evolves.

@Ingle92protege But declaring it is doctrinal does not automatically make it doctrinal, in order for something to become officially doctrinal, it must be agreed upon by the 12 before it can pass into that, thus anything a prophet says is considered opinionated until it is comfirmed via the spirit before the 12, thus while we can record what he said and examine it for weither we decide to agree, it is by no means an official position nor even a requirement ot agree with it.

Your concept is flawed, because you seem to think that LDS blindly follow every word of the prophet, when in fact there is more organization in the church that Christ in his wisdom set up to prevent the natural fallacy of man from getting in the way of the work of the church. LDS believe in the fallability of prophets, they can be wrong, they can insert their own opinions into their words, but only those comfirmed by the apostles will ever change from opinion to doctrine.

At 16..you could barely shave...and even missionaries aren't sent out until they are 19 years old..that is 3 years past the age you left at..silly little boy....losts of MATURING takes place between those ages...I can tell you right now..that you DID NOT understand LDS theology then and that you certainly haven't learned much in the interim. To all the naysayers: Everything Joseph taught about the Restoration was, and remains true. I will gladly follow the teachings of whom you call a 'con man' over anything you offer, simply because none of you are able to produce anything better. I know how my life was before finding the Fullness, and I know how improved it is since finding it.
I thank God Almighty for the Prophet Joseph Smith, and for the Restored Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Well just pick any of the DOZENS of questions I gave you for starters...let's see how much you "think" you know about LDS theology and ealry Christian History
Start with this SIMPLE one: Where do we find the words "essence" or substance" "in" the Bible to support this connection between the members of the Godhead? The Trinity stands or FALLS on this very critical question...show me in ANY of the biblical languages where these words are found to make this connection

@Ingle92protege here's the thing, there are guidelines otherwise everyone would be able to go to the temple. The same would apply in other sacred places like a mosque or temples in other cultures, there is a certain protocol or criteria that needs to be met. Being worthy to attend the temple is based on the same principles. Living the Word of Wisdom is one of them. One of the biggest fallacies is that if you are not temple worthy, then you are not a good person. That is so wrong.

@Ingle92protege I think the bishop would pray about it, and if he is prompted that you were worthy to enter then he would say so. From my experiance it is a case by case basis, not a 'you have to be exactly this way' basis.

@Dyoni1 you are right, bishop makes the decision based on your answers, but if you really wanted to take part in the blessings of the temple you would do all that you could to attain those blessings.. Again, it is personal choice, I do not think it is a sacrifice, it just depends on what you want in life, and how you choose to live it.

I have read a lot about the authenticity of the BOM, the Prophet Joseph Smith as a con man, there is a lot of stuff out there, you would think that with so many lies the church would have faltered a long time ago. The Holy Ghost whispers truth, unfortunately there are many who live without it's influence.

@Ingle92protege :) that is correct, a bishop holds the keys and is appointed a judge in Israel over his members. He makes that decision based on your answers so if you lie, you may think you have got a ticket to the temple and nobody knows, but you are only lying to yourself. You talked about tattoos and piercings, you are correct, that is not doctrine but we believe our bodies are temples of God, and defiling it in any way is defiling the temple of God. It's personal choice again.

I have not always been an active and participating member even though I am a 5th generation member, a lot of my family are inactive and have left the church too, but they are still my family, we have just chosen different paths. I respect everyone's opinions and even though some good comments have been shared, demeaning another person's beliefs or religion is being disrepectful and does nothing to bring people together.

@Ingle92protege I'm a gal not a guy, don't hold that against me. My point was that anything that is done in the church is by choice despite what all our detractors say. Personal choice, there is no force used and if people are saying 'yes' to those questions just so they can go to the temple, then they are only fooling themselves. It was my choice to be temple worthy, I was willing to do all that was necessary because that is what I wanted for me and my family.

F. Michael Watson made a statement according to his own understanding, and then at the direction of the First Presidency later clarified/corrected his statement to indicate that while many Latter-day Saints have expressed opinions about the location of Cumorah (or other Book of Mormon geography issues), the Church has no official geography. No revelatory basis exists for any geographical scheme outside of the Book of Mormon text itself.

It is never wise to argue about doctrine unless there are no cows to come home, one never wins just look at history, almost every war was fought over religion. IMHO it is far more important to nurture values, doing good to others, living by example and personal testimony than to argue about doctrine. Doctrine is already written, your personal testimony is something that evolves.
