I love the Bayou feel. I read a story once; Leslie said the band snorted some huge lines of coke before going on stage. During the first song, the bassist had a coke booger snot 5 inches long, whipping around as he looked at Leslie and the drummer, they burst out laughing so hard, they blew the song. Funny as Hell man! very true story.
In my opinion when a band covers someone else's song and it sounds the same, it was a waste of time. To give it something of yourself can make it special. I think that's what Leslie did with this song. Jimi Hendrix was a master at it.
@Medesio Everybody is entitled to their opinion. IMO what´s great about Leslie is that he makes every cover version very much his own without losing some of the song´s particular feeling.
@twylaharp1965 Both the presentation video, and the song are very nicely done. What a great guitar player/musician he is, and has stood the test of time. Thanks for the link.
does anyone have a version of Leslie doing We gotta get out of this place, its really a great cover. thanks

I like the mojo-feel to this version. Look up the cocaine-booger story on these guys when they were touring as Mountain; very funny.

Ok, an arguement over Montrose/Hagar has led to me to rediscover Mister West!!! Damn, he is so damn good, even today...

The beginning sounds like While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Great song. Leslie played it like it was his - better than the Beatles.
