you hear him do the "panic rev" at 0:19 (rev the nuts of the bike so centrifugal force tips the bike backwards to raise the front) unfortunately, sometimes no amount of revving will help enough, as you see here.. unlucky for him, hope he's ok

Yeah but if he didn't he was at serious risk of getting run over. None of the other riders would have even seen him coming over that jump. Better risk damaging the vertebrae and getting him to safety than have him get run over, and endanger another rider's life.
