Freddie was a great musician and personality! Being born in West London and being Indian, with parents who were born in Tanzania/Zanzibar , I feel even more proud of him and what he achieved! I am tired of Iranians calling him one of them, Parsi's are Gujarati speaking Indians, their ancestors fled Persia 1200 years ago, they have nothing to do with Iran, ask any Parsi, none of them have anything to do with Iran!
Interesting how a lot of circumstances were the cause of freddie joining Queen. If it were not for the reolution on zanzibar Freddie would never have met Brian, Rodger or John. How weird would that be? Queen would never have existed but who knows what Brian and Rodger that were already in a band at that point would have done.
To OriginalKamil...if you know about Freddie, you will know he is Persian (what is now Iran), not Indian but it is nice to read that he is someone you look up to.

You never know where people began their journey. This was a touching video of a very talented man. His end was cut short because of his lusts. That will always cut your life short.
Perfect example of a person who most definitely should not have died at a young age. He had so much more to offer. Mercury's one of the very few artists/performers whose death deeply effected me. I don't relate to people who get upset whenever this or that celebrity dies, as though they knew them personally or something; so I was sort of shocked when I broke down after hearing that he'd passed away. He was a very rare individual.
my dad was a classmate of Freddie's at Ealing's, my dad came from Malaya, was one of those Chinese Malaysian students doing art in England in those days - omg, the only thing my dad told me was that Freddie was a friendly guy to everybody! very open and warm. RIP freddie youre sucha family man...

One of my regrets is not seeing Queen at Live Aid but I was only 14. It was the best music show in the world and everybody talked about how great Queen were for ages. He had the most brilliant voice and I'm glad he used it in many different ways. I first become interested in Freddie when I saw, I was born to love you on TOTP. It was a lovely video. These documentaries are always so overblown, feeding the image that Mercury was God-like or larger than life. As far as I'm concerned, even though he had talent, he had to work his ass off to make it big. Plus, he needed timing, luck, cash, emotional support, and the right cohorts with which to pull it off. It wasn't all just Freddie! Freddie! Freddie!
I'm sorry... there was a +1 thumbs up on this and I meant to add one but I am slightly drunk so now you are at even... well back to square one, hopefully fans worldwide will bring it up to +50 status. Long Live Farookh!
Maybe the children who are in the school now think of him as their most famous pupil and only know him as Freddie? Where did he get the name from? It might have been a nickname? Prince Harry isn't called Henry.
this whole documentary is a hoax! freddie mercury's father was a pizza maker in tuscany where he owned, and still owns, Mercury Pizza. I have eaten there myself - allow me to recommend the 'pizza marguerita' - and his mother comes from Italian arisicracy.

freddie served me a pizza once back in 86' - it came out luke warm and lacked enough sauce. since he was just filling in for his dad I didn't make an issue out of it. freddie apologised, made me a new pizza, and sang the operatic mid section of bohemian rhapsody while he did it.

Yeah, she "had to let him carry on" as she said. Despite coming from a religion that at least formerly disapproved of homosexuality, she accepted and encouraged him pursuing his talents. Helps to come from a civilized, prosocial, nonviolent religious/cultural tradition.

freddie was a fantastic performer, a very talented man, no other voice can match his, or his passion for his music, I still miss him even to this day,the music world has lost one of the very best, if not, the best, there will only ever be one freddie. wherever you are freddie, thank you for the music!!!

Yeah, she "had to let him carry on" as she said. Despite coming from a religion that at least formerly disapproved of homosexuality, she accepted and encouraged him pursuing his talents. Helps to come from a civilized, prosocial, nonviolent religious/cultural tradition.

At 3:25 Freddie's mum looks like one of those treasure trolls. I just wanna roll her back and forth between my hands and watch her hair fuzz out. lol. (Sorry, Freddie. She's a lovely lady.)
