The first key you got did come from a skeleton. You were fighting a group consisting of these: Angry Bones, Big Bones, or Short Bones. I don't know if there's any easy way to tell the difference between them, but yeah, at least one type of skeleton in the dungeon drops keys. Obviously, though, it was either a rare skeleton or a rare drop.
Looking forward to you continuing this series. I'd like to see the jungle and the hell levels.
