It's pretty funny how everyone is fighting over which software is best for production. It has nothing to do with the software - it has to do with the artist. Most programs already have the biggest functionalities and effects of professional music, whether it's FL or Ableton, so there's no point in debate.
You look at reason, very very anolog, which is to be honest half of it's appeal. I love working in reason, it feels alot more natural and hands on, how music should be. Logic is very clean, with lots of space and neutral colours, same for ableton live. FLstudio has quirky things like you'll drag a sample and you can see the waveform as you drag it and it slowly rocks as you pull it left and right. These minute differences make a world of difference. oh the irony!! :)
2 main DAWS are cubase and logic fact neather of them are better or worse they do the same thing in diffrent ways some people like ferry corsten tiesto showtek use cubase some like van doorn armin use logic
@SyNtHsCaPe how about a little programme called pro tools?? And they aren't main DAW's wtf? Just widely used. i'm a believer that DAW's do differ alot. For me I cannot stand Cubase, and this isn't anything to do with audio processing quality because it does sound amazing just like most of the other DAW's, for me cubase has a very dull and uninspiring interface. Lets face it when we're making music we can't exactly go down to the beach, so we need our interfaces to look as good as possible
@SyNtHsCaPe wow u tellin me cubase does not look good man it looks the best of the best logic looks shit and boring pro tools is just a crock of bolocks due to all the main and best synths are vst and most wont work in pro tools cubase is by far the best cubase was around long be4 pro tools logic ecc ecc fact cubase is very hard to learn granted but never the less once learned it payes off i cant stand pro tools never the less in theory they all do the same host ur plugs and make music :)
FUCKING BULLSHIT commercial assholes...trying to press their shit onto us...I may not be able to skip the shit but I sure as fucking hell can mute it...
sander's mixes are world class, but im totally against midi note programming and swing percentages. imho you should play everything you record live and keep the rhythm natural, especially the drum and bass section. use a groove box like maschine, hit record and play it out...
i never understand why so many think FL is top line daw. if it is, why is it every time it is brought up, people have to defend it? @TiTaNDoLLs and Spor uses it, the reason so many people have to defend it, is because people like you base their opinion on the FL that they used 6-7 years ago, its came a long way since then.

I think there are not much differences between Music Production Programs, It depends on you actualli..... the best program is that program in wich you can produec easy ........ shut da fuck up you disgusting mother fucker. who da fuck cares about what do you have, u been using those 2 daws for over 4 years and u didnt put ONE RECORD out you useless piece of shit.
haha! wow man, thats the funniest thing ive read in a long time!
Thats FL all over. clog up your screen and make itself look really important, but in reality is just a whole lot of nothing....
Logic on the other hand is more powerful and has more capabiltities than the creators of 'Fruity' could ever even understand....the gulf between them is immense.
what would you rather have, a garage with 20 shitty Fiat Punto's or a Garage with 1 Ferrari....?
LMAO your just fucking rubbin it in arent you lol...and ableton is complex as fuck but thats whats so incredible about it because you can do SOOO much with it, especially using it with reason.
@disciple21781 i use Cubase 5 too. No offense man, and im not trying to insult you, but if you think that Fruity Loops is on par With Cubase 5, then you really shouldnt have the privilege of owning Cubase 5...
@DJPaddy643 i dont think its on par, but i dont think reason is either, but i know there are people out there like Spor who uses fl studio, and he makes shit that is super technical, have you ever listened to him? i guarantee you arent a better producer than him on any software. im not trying to insult you just saying you dont know what you're talking about, its not always the software but the person using it...Rusko uses Acid, and that's not on par with Cubase, but he gets great sound out ofit
Just had a listen to some of you're tunes, notably the AvB remix, and im not criticising your producing abilities at all here because its certainly not the worst thing ive heard from FL, but your tracks and every other track that is produced in FL all sound the same. listen to a few seconds from any FL track and you now instantly that they are FL tracks because they sound similar - They lack depth!!
For me FL can put tracks together, but it cant make them sound good. thats the difference...
That's a bit of a generalisation though isn't it. FL STudio is a really good DAW to learn in as it's very intuitive in it's layout etc. The problem comes when you start building your skills and want to put together more complex sequences in the 'Playlist'. Because it's pattern based, everytime you want a variation you need a new pattern clip, and automation then becomes split over all the clips which is horrible. You can still make good tunes, but it's actually pobably harder...
Yeah, you get loads of ideas down quickly, but end up with loads of unfinished tunes because they became a nightmare to structure.
If anyone's in that position I'd recommend Ableton as a next step. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but once you understand it, for me it has all the good stuff that FL had, plus tons and tons of improvements. A good way to move into the standard non pattern based DAWs. Logic of course is amazing as well though you'll need a Mac to run it.
i personally find Cubase to be very good for sequencing Electronic music....
I just find it extremely easy to express your ideas and get them into an actual track...and sequencing is extremely detailed and editable....there's a parameter for everything....
I think Cubase and Logic would rank highest as favourite DAW's amongst the pro's with Ableton being popular with DJ's who use it to perform live as well...
Paddy you are very wrong. Im tired of all these people saying FL sucks. FL is a beast, if you know how to use it properly. Just because you or anyone else cant put your so called "creativity" in it doesn't mean its for noobs or shit. Lots of professional and successful people use FL for their productions.
Thank you, and yes it was made in FL, got recently signed. I use FL for small loops and then i use ableton, but san Cisco was made in FL. Its getting mastered by a company currently. Everybody has those days, i had it yesterday XD.
hey man its great that you got song released using FL! i just want to know one thing, how do you make the drums sound "real"? i have no problem with the synths or effects i just have such a hard time finding the right drums and making them sound good u know? i'd appreciate any help, cheers!
Well i dont just take a kick and use it. I put it into a mixer track, EQ it, Maximus, Sound Goodziser, Compresser. If you want an easy way of putting up the kick without distorting, then put compresser -3db, and put maximus leave it at default. Easiest way, of course theirs more. Like in my latest song.
nah i know about all that stuff it just doesnt really do it for me. cud be becus i use drumsynth live though... thanks anyways, i'll try out maximus next time
What has expensive software got to do with making music? I use basic software bundled with FL Studio and can make decent sounding tracks. Just depends how you use the software.
try puttin your tracks that u made to a record label and see what happens.... THATS right nothing software and equipment is essential in music production sound is very important it makes the song but u wouldn't kno that cuz u use cheap shit u get what u pay for buddy
Indeed you do. The point i'm trying to make is you DON'T need to spend a fortune to make music. If your really into production then spend what you deem to be nessacary.
Oh and by the way, don't patronise me you jumped up little twat.
I'm not patronize you douche bag I'm trying to give you constructive criticism i mean I would hate to see you give dance music a bad name but yeah good luck with your career O WAIT THATS RIGHT... your not serious about music production you use fruity loops! lol
So where are your big productions? I see your storming the dancefloors with your productions. So what if i use fruity? I use Logic too, they both have their benefits, hell i even dabble with Ableton from time to time. Don't be such a knob, last thing this site needs is people clogging the server with negative feedback.
If you check he's favorites he has a video there, where a producer showing off his studio is actually using Fruity Loops with loads of expensive hardware. The truth is? He thinks it takes good equipment to make good music now thats funny! I know that without a good understanding of music all the toys in the world will just make it sound like glorified rubbish. In fact some of the best producers in the world started with Fruity Loops hence "FL studio".
the way how he works for the first part of the song ( 5.00), it's so close like to work with Reason...just need a midi keyboard...or a midi controller i think will be to cool for a live session...(hope that everybody understand me...and sorry for the mistakes, if there are)...by the way this is a great tutorial...

hey man its great that you got song released using FL! i just want to know one thing, how do you make the drums sound "real"? i have no problem with the synths or effects i just have such a hard time finding the right drums and making them sound good u know? i'd appreciate any help, cheers!
nicsevern 1 year ago
Well i dont just take a kick and use it. I put it into a mixer track, EQ it, Maximus, Sound Goodziser, Compresser. If you want an easy way of putting up the kick without distorting, then put compresser -3db, and put maximus leave it at default. Easiest way, of course theirs more. Like in my latest song.

nah i know about all that stuff it just doesnt really do it for me. cud be becus i use drumsynth live though... thanks anyways, i'll try out maximus next time

makes it look easy, specially when you can just pull up one expensive software (omnisphere) after another.
UrbanLikwid 2 years ago
Ehm, he made the basics of the tracks using super simple Logic bundled plug-ins - and that's pretty cool!
PANDAPANDAMADNESS 2 years ago
What has expensive software got to do with making music? I use basic software bundled with FL Studio and can make decent sounding tracks. Just depends how you use the software.

try puttin your tracks that u made to a record label and see what happens.... THATS right nothing software and equipment is essential in music production sound is very important it makes the song but u wouldn't kno that cuz u use cheap shit u get what u pay for buddy
LizardBonerKING 2 years ago
Indeed you do. The point i'm trying to make is you DON'T need to spend a fortune to make music. If your really into production then spend what you deem to be nessacary.
Oh and by the way, don't patronise me you jumped up little twat.
shonkysaint 2 years ago
I'm not patronize you douche bag I'm trying to give you constructive criticism i mean I would hate to see you give dance music a bad name but yeah good luck with your career O WAIT THATS RIGHT... your not serious about music production you use fruity loops! lol
WHY SOO SERIOUS!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
LizardBonerKING 2 years ago
So where are your big productions? I see your storming the dancefloors with your productions. So what if i use fruity? I use Logic too, they both have their benefits, hell i even dabble with Ableton from time to time. Don't be such a knob, last thing this site needs is people clogging the server with negative feedback.

Just ignore that guy he's got nothing better to do. Just keep making music. ('',)
toooobster 2 years ago
If you check he's favorites he has a video there, where a producer showing off his studio is actually using Fruity Loops with loads of expensive hardware. The truth is? He thinks it takes good equipment to make good music now thats funny! I know that without a good understanding of music all the toys in the world will just make it sound like glorified rubbish. In fact some of the best producers in the world started with Fruity Loops hence "FL studio".
Keep the vibe alive Shonkysaint.

the way how he works for the first part of the song ( 5.00), it's so close like to work with Reason...just need a midi keyboard...or a midi controller i think will be to cool for a live session...(hope that everybody understand me...and sorry for the mistakes, if there are)...by the way this is a great tutorial...

seems like you really can't tell the difference. unless ableton is the only thing you know. Logic looks nothing like Ableton Live. FYI
