  • How I love this song, so strong, so powerful.... *____* Gives me shivers everytime!

  • She's PERFECT here...

  • Comment removed

  • I HAD a brilliant comment . 'Tis gone.

  • it's heavy without being metal. love you Tori!

  • seriously talented, of course wasn't she accepted to the Peabody Institute like as a child? If so I am guess that's what they thought too ;-)

  • @TheWolfcub01 she was. but they wanted her to play a specific way and specific things and she didn't like that. she's brilliant!

  • Best blood roses Ive seen. Woo and yay

  • she is soo inspirering, just love her <3

  • I remember watching this when it originally aired.. i had it recording on my VCR on my tiny tv in my bedroom, while i watched it on the big tv in the livingroom.. running back and forth to make sure it was still recording.. and just DYING through the whole broadcast.. *sigh*

  • @jcbstn77 I had a similar experience! I was working at a bookstore in a mall and I begged the guy who ran the electronics store across from us to switch the channel to MTV when it was supposed to air that night. There was no way I could wait til I got home to watch it on tape. I kept running over there throughout the broadcast to watch it. I remember there was a whole wall of TVs with Tori on them. My boss was very understanding. It was so awesome.

  • I love you and I'm only 26 :P Happy to discover Tori at the age of 18. It could have been worse!

  • I started learning this song on piano ages ago. I should probably finish learning it sometime soon.

  • Amazing! She is the only singer that plays on a cembalo live so far I know....

  • There isn't a decent tutorial on how to correctly play this song online

  • i love rediscovering tori amos after a deep dive into bad music. she is the best

  • That's so weird because I was twelve when I first heard her music too! (To Venus and Back was the new album at the time I think) I just realized that I've been listening to her music for twelve years now, that's half of my life. Good lord I feel suddenly older than I did a moment ago.

  • @nicuni ME TOO. It cracked my world in two and I finally felt like someone knew how I felt.

  • daymn!, this shit gives me goosebumps

  • It's NOT my favourite. I understand the loss, the pain, the visit to the morgue but it is certainly a strange reaction to it all. Total confusion. Total loss. Perhaps this is why two to four voices are being employed as a way of finding the door. The frustration is too overwhelming to listen to...definitely not enjoyable cause it is so over the top. Yet interesting. Pound out the pain on the piano.

  • @iriswigle "Strange" but... TRUE, REAL.

  • The best part of the video: 3:19 lip bite

  • This is one of her best songs, there's nobody like Tori Amos! Want to see her live in concert once. I hope she will visit Holland soon!

  • whats the nane of this instrument?

I ask me this since years.

this is not a normal piano or not?

  • @lori3966 It is a harpsichord. It was actually invented before the standard piano. The difference is that a harpsichord actually plucks the strings, where a piano just bangs them with a hammer.

  • @lori3966 that is a cembelo :))))))))))

  • @lori3966 cembelo:))))))))))

  • Would most certainly LOVE to see her in Concert.

  • 3:22 - 3:33 HOLY SHIT.

  • Hey everyone. I have uploaded the studio version of "Blood Roses".

  • the best version..better!

  • i think i have a vhs copy of this

  • poor sound quality , but what isn't...

  • I'm 18 years old but I wish I'd known her sooner! She's really good.

  • I have to see her live before I die. I mean this!

  • I was twelve years old too! Wow...it's been eight years that I've loved her!

  • was this in De Vereniging in Nijmegen?

  • What can you possibly say to do this woman justice?

  • Damn, it's such a shame she didn't use more Harpsichord in her other songs, this goes perfectly with her voice.

  • love the sound in that "Piano". What is that instrument called?

  • @Remilson it's a harpsichord :)

  • Have you ever had music as a subject at school?

In Poland every child will tell you that this "piano" is called harpsichord.

  • no matter what anyone says, Tori is one of those that make the world a little more beautiful.

  • @cemorym how very true :D!!

  • @cemorym i want to marry her omg she owns my heart

  • In an interview by TORI this song BLOOD ROSES is about a failed relationship. I can completely relate to! Love it!

  • the begining is this same like in one British song ---- please help me and tell me what is the song.

  • maybe "golden brown" by the stranglers?

  • jeffy you are my hero man :) you have a big beer

  • Since she lives in England, there is a lot of british influence in her music.

  • GREAT performance!!!

  • This song is about genitalia mutation they do to women in some cultures.

  • thats cornflake girl.... i think this is about prostitution...

  • Either prostitution or falling in love with a manwhore. Something like that, lol.

  • the genital mutilation comes up here and Cornflake girl. - The line "when chickens get a taste of your meat" is really graphic actually - it's about a tribe or something that would cut off the clitoris from female members and throw them to the chickens nearby to feed on... / gruesome yes. not for the lighthearted at all.

  • i always view it as, meat= lust, chicken = guys who use prostitute.... but i just saw an old article, it was confirmed by ms amos that it is just about a failed relationship and that make sense a lot...

  • No, that's Cornflake Girl

  • She's a goddess, a powerful beautiful witch, the most fascinating and talented woman l ever saw performing on LIVE. She plays like magic and she sings like the wind, sometimes soft, sometimes rough, but always pleasing. Can't get enough of this woman, l would give everything to be the lucky man to marry such fascinating woman. Love you Tori.

  • XD that harpsichord would be like in love with her. Boys for Pele was the first tori amos album i listened to, and this was like my fave song :D

    <3!!

  • I may be kinda unsophisticated in this kind of song, but what does it mean? I really don't get it.

  • it's about a guy who does her wrong!! lol hence the lyric " I've shaved every place where you've been boy."

  • It's about a girl who is used by the guys she meets (the chickens.) Tori tells her this; she calls Tori a queer. Tori compares them to vampires, thus the title (think "when he sucks you deep", "sometimes you're nothing but meat", etc.) The roses part comes from the bridge, where the Belle teaches her to dance round his feet like roses, a symbolic act of submission. However, she doesn't let him use her like her friend. The "I've shaved every place" line is Tori showing her disgust towards him.

  • are harpsichord and clavichord the same???

  • This one actually hooked me up on Tori. I stumbled upon it on late tv and I was disturbed and at the same time fascinated. A couple of weeks later I bought 'Boys for Pele'.

  • *sigh* <3

  • this is such a stunning performance.. and this song.....goodness!

  • i love the fact that she uses and can play harpsichord, its an amazing talent to have, and she can play so well.

Love this song, love this woman!

  • Agreed, and she plays very well indeed !

  • damn that's what a harpischord is supposed to sound like pardone the speelling i'm reallly drunkd

  • @Vredesbyrderdod Yeah! Rock me Tori Amos!

  • @Vredesbyrderdod best comment ever

  • This is the best song in the entire world.

  • Does anyone know why she always wears headphones when playing the harpsichord?

  • There could be a couple of reasons. She could be listning to a direct monitor mix or it could even a "click" track that she is using to keep time, which would make sense with Blood Roses because of the use of odd time signitures.

  • she makes this look way, way too easy..

  • epic song.

  • fucking sexy

  • She's so peculiar...I LOVE IT

  • Boys for Pele is the perfect antidote to a bad breakup, I'm not sure why, but it works for me.

  • "I shaved every place that you bin .."

    bitter and twisted

and fuckin medieval on his ass

  • oh yeah!

  • hmmm these lyrics cause a commotion, i worry that you guys aren't hearing that beautiful score behind it.

  • you think im a queer, i think your a queer, shal i think your a queer? i think your a queer.

    i love this song

  • Intimidating to listen to, very strong lyrics.

  • beautiful

  • 'Can't 4get The Things U Never Said'

    i can diggit

  • theoylh moy!

    apiseyth!

  • Einai thea leme!

  • harpsichord sweetness!!!! love tori

  • I love you tori and I am only 12 years old:D

  • that's a great age to start listening to Tori...i was 12 when i was listening to Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink. :)

  • Yes, you are indeed a wise soul to find an affinity so young.

  • Ur younger than i am but not a LOT ,

i only discovered her TRUELY a/b 2 years ago and what a Musical Journey It Has Been .

  • I was 12 years old when I started to listen to Tori too. The first song I heard by her was Mr. Zebra and ever since then, she has taken me into a deep, enchanting, empowering journey. You are indeed an awesome person with good taste in music to discover Tori and love her at such a young age.

  • @piano1989 I am so pleased to see a 12 year old with such impeccable taste in music~!!!! You will go far in life.

  • @piano1989 You mean 21? (The whole "1989" thing)

  • @piano1989 You shouldn't be watching this at 12!!

  • Comment removed

  • @piano1989 ignore anyone who tells you not to watch this. That's awesome that you can appreciate her music. I was 12 when I first discovered her music and felt less alone and less depressed because of it. Rock on!

  • @piano1989 you're 15 now. How's it goin'?

  • Is there anywhere I can buy these performances? Amazing.

  • the series "boots and legs" are live recordings of the american doll posse tour avaliable as downloads

.....i think there are about two dozen double disc sets

  • OMIGOD!!

This was the first live performance that I saw from Tori!! MTV Unplugged made me the huge Tori fan I am today. Thank you for posting this!

  • This is one of Toris best performances in my opinion...

  • Sometimes you're nothing but meat....

  • she looks so beautiful there.the wig today is kinda ugly.her normal hair is so wonderful.

    anyway,this performance blew me away!

  • I feel the same way... I think santas, clydes, and pips wigs are cute but i hate isabels and toris just doesnt do her any justice whatsoever. her natural hair is always so beautiful. but then again i wasnt a fan of the bodysuit that tori wore on the 2007 tour either.....

  • It was to display the two-dimensional, material of the dolls, as character types. It was not about Fashion, but a continuation of the framework of American Doll Posse. It shows that their needs to be psychic integration. That's what I see, because as we know she won't be wearing those jumpsuits or wigs anymore.

  • Isabel likes rubber...

    -Tori Amos

  • ke cancion mas wapa

  • no tienes intelligente de music hahhaa

  • *.*

    I love her...

  • She's perfect!

She shows all the passion she has for the music.

Her voice is one of the most beautiful.

    *-*

  • I love her.

I love how how she goes all out with the lyrics.

And I especially love how passionned she is when she performs live.

    I love her. =)

  • grande. immensa. penso che sia una delle canzoni (anche se definirla solo canzone sia un insulto) più belle ed emozionanti che abbia mai ascoltato!

    Great!

  • jesus christ...just...wow...

  • why is embedding disabled?

  • love it!

  • I love that the song is so beautiful and yet so very vulgar.

  • I only wish I could understand half of her songs, without having to annotate them, but it is beautiful poetry, with beautiful piano accompaniment.

  • ah but in this song it is a harpsicord, I also believe genius is open to interpretation :)

  • i really love this song!

  • This was one of Tori's best years.

  • what a great find!! you should post more videos from this show!
