  • Aw yeah, great. But my Mac wakes up in a split second, and it's ready for work.

  • пиздец дроч! извращение

  • One of the main arguments for this product is that it's "safe". They just forgot the most basic thing of the security...

    PASSWORDS.

I've got Splashtop on my new Sony Vaio CW and it really bothers me that anyone can hit "web", launch the Splashtop, use the notebook without any password-recognition and access any site they want under my IP.

I really hope that they update this asap!

  • Yet another Linux intended for netbooks. Linux on netbooks have always been a difficult sell. What makes this Linux for netbooks any different?

I know that Sony puts Splashtop on some of it's laptops and netbooks. But they also install Windows as well.

  • its not that bad, ive got it on my P5Q Delux MoBo, however i cant get the net as it does not like my wireless, and i cannot config a HDD, overall its fun but shyte.

  • Hmmm... my UBUNTU 9.04 Linux loads fully within 30-40 seconds. I could see that with a super fast BIOS and a streamlined Linux O/S could be very possible to speed load a machine within 10 seconds... I'm going to have to give this a try :)

Sorry people, I gave up on Windows after XP... I hate O/S + anti-virus conflicts. I no longer believe in the MS "Let's throw more memory at it!" approach to computing. Vista no-no... bye-bye.. all done.

    GNU4U2!

  • My Windows XP will load up in under 30 seconds. It only takes a while to load if you have slow hardware, or you're one of those people that have like 20 programs load at startup. If you compare a default installation of Windows XP and Ubuntu, Ubuntu would probably load up faster, but if you customize your Windows installation (like I do), XP loads much quicker.

As for Anti-virus, I don't see the need for one if you're careful about what you download. I don't use one and never have any trouble.

  • 2:13 - 2:15 RIGGED!

pause it, the video slider is about 1 sec in

the os might be fast, but it DOES NOT MAKE THE INTERNET FAST!

  • not only is the slider in, the video is also completely loaded!! FAKE!

  • @stingrayshrey

u ppl r retarded i have splash and is real and super fast, but the reason why it was loaded was because they already watched that vid b4,

  • @lowtone10

idiot, u fail the internet depends on your network card or adapter, and service, and browser

  • @tsu... i know, but having a fast internet does not make the youtube slider be a second in does it!

  • LOL!

Toasters don't toast that fast, like "hit a button"!

  • @ric2b yeah, but you don't need to let them heat up. As soon as you switch it on it's instantly usable.

  • After all, as I see it, Splashtop is useful for emergency situations, where your regular operating system has issues and I really have to send an urgent e-mail or have a quick chat with someone on the web. For that, Splashtop is invaluable. It doesn't even matter that it starts in about 5 seconds - which is fantastic - but the functionality itself is what makes it great. For anything more complex I can use a Linux live CD.

  • You know... It's propagandists you should hate - at most -, not the stuff itself. I used Splashtop and I am almost satisfied. What I missed was access to a console, so I can mount my partitions and access my data, but leaving that aside, the little operating system allowed me to perform online shopping without the fear that my "Windows" has some sort of spyware that could steal anything from me.

  • im going to make sure i never use this product simply because that video pissed me off. i hate propaganda

  • interesting but she pissed me a bit, isn't it obvoius that data-processing takes some time? geeezz how impatient people can get...

  • uh? When I turn on my Vista - it is ready to use after 5 seconds!

Asus mainboard waking up from S3 standby, monitor also wakes up from standby...

  • Standby mode doesn't save that much energy, did you know? Hibernate saves, but your Vista won't wake up from hibernate in 5 seconds.

  • S1 standby does not save much energy. S3 standby saves A LOT energy. Hybernate does not save energy at all - it turns energy consumption to zero. Yes I know.

  • So what's new? Laptops have been having sleep mode for years now, why Splashtop is so different.

But kudos to Asus for promoting Linux.

  • splash top is horrible!

  • This is Sol from Splashtop. Our old post got more views/comments. This one is pretty new. Thanks for checking it out!

  • Very Interesting, is this new? I don't see too many comments or views.
