  • I also listened to this in high school in 1968-69. It was the way a lot of felt back then-- Vietnam, Bobby Kennedy dead, Nixon. We felt the way his voice sounded in the Final Hours and that song about the Women of Pompeii. In an interview, probably in 1969, Harris said something like, "Previously I only sang in the shower... and none my neighbors bought this album." If you are younger than 60, listen to this album, then drink some mescal and watch "A Man Called Horse". Then you'll understand.

  • Great actor a unique great singer but sadly underrated on those murderous years just listen how he sings i seems it came from his innermost soul and heart no one like to sing the compose song of Jimmy Webb he was just 22 until he rmember his friend Richard harris then Macarthur Part was release everybody was surprise what a mysterious world we live, ONLY IF A PERSON IS DEAD THAT MANY WILL RECOGNIZED HIS OTHER GREAT WORKS,may you rest in peace and our good Lord jesu have a place for you n heaven

  • Jimmy Webb and Richard Harris teamed up in the late 60's to save one another. Webb had the music and Harris was looking for something to make a comeback after his alcoholic addiction. The "Tramp Shining" album was always on my turntable whenever I was home. Beautifully written, and fabulously performed. It still catches in my heart whenever I hear the strings.

  • I certainly hail the feelings of those who loved the man and the music. I was in High School and greatly loved this album, still have it. Music of his was hard to find in digital so thanx much to the wonderful person pr persons who took the time and cared to make this playlist. I had the same problem with my cryan Shames songs till they were remastered on CD.

  • Such a wonderful man. Used to play A Tramp Shining album each day while getting ready for work, back in 1968. This song still brings tears to my eyes. Richard Harris will be sadly missed by many who followed him throughout his career.
