On the first Star Tours at Disneyland, I videotaped this ride many times and never had a problem. You probably had a newbie security guy watching you, or maybe his boss was watching over his shoulder.
Was this at Disneyland or Walt Disney World? At Disneyland, they don't have a problem with guests using video cameras. At least not at the old Star Tours. The only time guests aren't allowed to videotape attractions is during sneak previews which is understandable.
That said, I didn't see the part where you got kicked off the ride. Did it happen after you turned your camera off?
@LextheRobot I've played that bit over and over ten times in a row and it STILL sounds like "You have a target beer, no recording inside the cabin". LOL
LOL. Those ride operators were just being douchebags. Hundreds of guests film rides and it's not like you are going to use it for some multi million dollar promotional event. Give me a break!
On my last ride April 2010, The dumb cast member got on the speaker during the ride and told me not to film, I have filmed 10+ times. What really sucks is this time I had an HD video camera, and also no cast member never cared before. That guy was just A As***le. I dont get why he said anything this was near the end of the day and about 2 months before it closed.
@wdw1hsm1girl ya usually CMs wont interrupt the ride like that. It depends on if it was visibly bothering other guests. Or unless the CM just felt like being bitchy. power trip. whatever.

whats wrong with taking non-flash photos for your own personal use? Just want to capture the moment you will never be able to see again.
