  • where did the boy go???

    loved the song,

  • July 4th 2009 in Washington DC Civil War starts

  • Its time to take up arms and do what we must according to the constatution. They are laughing at our Tea Partys and calling our Bluff. You may call it extream, I call it fighting for our Freedom. If you don't take up arms and join me very soon. Then you condim the USA to a Socialism Country. I will not stay to be murdured by the Political Terrorists in the White House.

  • Mr Joel, you are so right, we didn't start the fire. Patriotism continues this fire.

    I always loved this song.

    Thanks Billy Joel

  • I would like everyone that sees this video to please look this up: New American Revolution. This video fits New American Revolution posting very very well.

  • nice song, party time forever...

  • this song is nothing more than a history lesson... research just a few of the things in the song and you will understand that these were controversial points in history...

  • That's how I heard of the song, heh. Our teacher made us look up every one of the points.

  • This is epic, along with We Love You Doctor Freeman.

  • no we love you dr freeman is more funny

  • look at him at 4:04 he looks like the terminator

  • My parents won't let me get this song for my MP3 because when I am listening to it, I end up blasting it and singing the refrain really loudly.

  • love the begining best song ever period

  • sounds like a rip off of REM End Of The World As We Know It (And I feel Fine).

  • What is this song supposed to be about? The video too, they're both kinda random.

  • Basically, I think, that even though every generation claims to have been responsible for giving things to the world, in fact you can trace back how it was actually the previous generation in a continuous line.

  • what is the video about?

  • This song and video EPIC

  • We Love You Dr. Freeman (search it on youtube)

  • FUCK EEUU!!!

  • The story narrative of this song is a History lesson alone...

  • Alot of the people who listen to this song heard it in school. My teacher played this song too and now I love hearing this song.

  • Gosh, I miss good music videos.

  • Love this song!

  • what is B Joel doing now ??

  • I rememeber listening to this quite-often, when I was little. :) (Good memories)

  • Best song ever!

  • ROFL, what was that for??

  • For saying peter gabriel sucks dick.

  • Who the hell is that?

And for the record, I didn't say anyone sucks "dick". You did though.

  • anyone notice the Lucy parody?

  • The paino man, an 80's sensation!!!!

  • Part of the reason BJ wrote this classic was after a conversation he had with John Lennon's son Sean who happened to be complaining about growing up in troubled times. Also, Joel had a mega interest in history & actually said he would have become a history teacher if he had'nt become a rock star! The song refer's to events through Joel's life, from his birth to 1989. He has done an amazing job in putting them all together. Well deserved it's no. 1 chart position in the U.S back in 1989. Classic.

  • i still cant beleive he played this in class lol, it was so bad lol

  • mr masoliver and his bizzare teaching methods :P @_@

  • haha my choir class is singing this in choir lolzzzz

  • new billy joel song......

    "We Didn't Crash The Car"

  • This is just like Linkin Park..

  • are you kidding me? this sounds nothin like linkin park...

  • -.- I didnt mean by the song...-.-

  • i absolutly love this song, but why in the video was a picture of a marine burning. i am a marine and i find this somewhat troubling.

  • maybe because people, including marines, actually die in wars and that seems to be a fact that too many governments want to hide from the population...?

  • nice trestegsraket best point ever

  • I'd imagine anyone who lived through the Vietnam War would remember primarily how many people they knew who died horrifically in service. People like Billy Joel.

  • Are you talking about @ 3:35? Isn't that Oliver North during the Iran-Contra hearings?

  • ha im doing a project about this in my s.s class.

my teacher played this and it was amazing

  • Great song and video! Thumbs up to Billy Joel!

  • Ryan started the fire!

  • he should do another updated one

  • Was there a same kind of song where the lyrics was about legendary internet things such as LG15 and Evolution of dance etc..??

  • the song is called "we didnt start THE fire"

  • hey, thanks for posting the lyrics to the song with the video

  • Comment below is for MogyMog

  • yep you really need to read the lyrics dude.

  • that was for seopeter22

  • We didn't make it, but we tried to fight it...

  • actually it's "Though we didn't light it, but we tried to fight it."

  • Well, attention all Lemoney snicket fans, if you listen closely, it seems to be abot (Shhh!) V.F.D.!

  • like this vid....!

  • He's not talking about the USA he's talking about how the Baby Boom Generation didn't start the fire, which is why he lists all these people which caused all these problems in the world in the 50's and 60's: they were born before the baby boom generation.

  • While it may have something to do with babyboomers. It also has to do with a lot more in depth perceptions of what went on then. Thats only one aspect of what the song actually means.

  • i concur

  • Had this as a video in class today...

  • I like the song very much. History is very interesting domain. To understand the present and to know what could happen in the future you have to understand the past.

  • lol, say what? rofl, I understand.

  • What´s *rofl* at my comment? It is to philosophical for you? I am German. Our past is the reason why Germany is so against the war in Iraq.

If you want to understand why the taliban had so much power you have to know the past. You know what I mean?

  • Very nice!

  • sweetness

  • i love this song. the us history is wrapped up nicely in this song.

  • Love this video SWEET!!!!!! been looking for it perfect!
