My best memory of seeing QOTSA with Lanegan was that wen he came on stage it changed the entire atmosphere of the concert much in the way Blue Velvet was changed when you first saw Hopper. THE BEST!
gotta respect them for doing something different and even more so when it sounds great... don't know if the levels were off for the actual show or it was a bad recording but still...
@allbearsareheroes basically, what's happening here is the crowd got Hutch's soundboard mix. Hutch is an amazing soundman. then whatever company recorded the show to broadcast makes their own mix and tv sound engineers usually follow a formula that says vocals go way up and bass and weird instruments go way down. i went to a show of theirs that was taped by mtv and saw exactly how shitty the mix can get when in the wrong hands.
this is a live version of "in the fade", the great thing about concerts is that the band plays songs live and gets a chance to incorporate alternate elements and sounds to the mix. i personally think this a great live version of this song.

A band shouldn't be good "even in live". Live is where they matter.
I agree this version sounds strange, but I guess the recording was crappy. 'Cause QotSA live is not awesome.

QOTSA is good even if it's live.. the whole band is full of good musicians.. they know what they are doing.. and its a great live!

Don't like it at all, sorry. I adore the origional song, and it's for the bassline but it sounds crappy and synthetic here. Disappointment!
