Call them whatever you like, but "Australian Shepherd" is on the official breed list of both the AKC and UKC. (The breed wasn't developed in Australia, though.) I can't say for sure if this dog is an Australian Shepherd, but it sure looks a lot like one.

The breed is Australian Shepherd. Hes a purebred, a "merle". The breed is not australian however, its an american breed raised for herding.

Must you contribute to the overuse of the ironic notion that intelligent things are "stupid"? It's the opposite of stupid (especially for a dog), and if a dog wanted it to hit the ground, the dog would allow it to hit the ground, it may not allow it to land because in actuality, the thing is that the dog is still having fun playing with the balloon. Having fun benignly predicting a balloons actions & managing to keep it in the air all day till one gets bored is far from indicative of stupidity
