I love playing pickaboo with my ferret when she's in wardancemode (I call high mode) or to make her go into it. I like scaring her a bit ... BOO. she would usually bounce around in happiness or 1-2 got scared ran to hide.
UNTIL once she just woke up, put a foot out of the cage and: BOO! she didn't move a whisker. I took her in my arms, aaaw Kiwi, it's just me! What's a matter?
And then I smelled IT! I never smelled it before, but the glands went off :(

Actually ferrets are cousins of cats, but they are in the muskaloid (sp?) family with skunks, weasels, polecats, etc. Ferrets can get along with most animals if they are raised together and used to each other. It depends on the particular animal - size and species has nothing to do with it.
I know you were talking to me, but I have 2 ferrets and 2 150 German shepherds and they get along great. Its a matter of introducing the ferret slowing and correctly to the dog
