In the short term, there doesn't seem to be a strong correlation between affinity with land and self-preservation. In fact it could be the reverse - those who had the least of it, fought hardest to acquire it, while those most abundantly blessed of it, became too complacent with it, and over time, relinquished it to thoe more hungry. I have found that one has to constantly prove to others their ancestry and culture.In India they don't have to prove to anyone. Their ancient scripts say it all.
