Great video CL, I do find it a bit odd that the rear sight was hit on the right side and the sight moved over to the right side. Wouldn't it slide over to the left side if hit on the right side? Just wondering. Stay safe! -Tim
Sorry but the gun did not hit on the rear, If the gun hit on the rear on the slide plate the sight would have not moved from left to right. The gun hit on the side to move the sight. Like I said take a rubber mallet and hit the slide plate and see what happens. Glock already has done extensive testing on this. I’m far from being an expert. But I have or have owned 15 Glocks and I also shoot Glock competition.
Take a rubber hammer and strike it on the back of the slide, The gun will fire. If you don't think it will tell that to a friend of mine when his Glock fell out of his holster hit on the rear of the slide and wet off. Just mised his private parts and went out his back.
I suggest getting the book The Glock in Competition and read page 15. The gun well fire when hit from the rear when the trigger safety is removed. You never hit the gun from the rear all of your drops were on the side.
@cutlerylover no jeff he is correct the whole point to the glock trigger safety is to prevent the fcg's momentum from overpowering the trigger weight i garantee it will fire if you hit it on the back plate with a rubber mallet hard enough
@unclebob46 Glock has NATO stock numbers on their 17s and 19s which means they had to undergo stringent testing including drop tests on concrete at as many angles as possible without firing. It's also been drop tested countless times by police agencies around the world without issues. That leads me to the conclusion that you're full of it, and saying "ASK MY FRIEND" is not real, viable proof that any Glock will fire if dropped on the back of the slide.
I might be mistaken but Glocks have a 3 safety, so they only way it could set the gun off, is if the trigger was actualy pulled back. Also i wanted to ask you how you feel about the silde covers?
Actually the shots would be to the right but, I appreciate you doing this. I know I would never drop my glock underany circumstance. Has you tried the over travel trigger housing or know anyone that has?? I'm anxious to see what it does to the trigger. Anyway keep up the vids.
you might lose sear connection and have an AD. Please reconsider this mod. Aldo please message me if you would like to discuss it any. Ive might be mistaken but Im pretty sure that could be a pretty dangerous mod. That "squish" you feel in the factory glock trigger isnt just pre-travel, its the trigger raising the firing pin block, finishing the draw stroke of the striker and finally stopping at the sear connect point. It needs to go through this to function safetly! sorry long reply!
Okay I watched the installation vid, Unless Im mistaken, what was probably meant by not "drop safe" is that that trigger defeats the firing pin block mechanism at least partially, if not totally, so what you have is a half cocked striker ready to fall on the pistol primer. This is very dangerous for several reasons. its not like a series 70 1911 that has a half cock notch to catch the hammer in case of mechanical failure. If that glock theoretically got jostled hard enough..cont...
u carry without a round in the chamber? thats what i think u said. i was just wondering why. is it because glock dosent have a manual safety? i thought the point of a glock was to be quick in action and you wouldnt have to fumble with a safety. To me a pistol with a hair trigger and no manual safety is pointless if you have to rack the slide b4 u fire. but dosent seem safe to carry locked and cocked idk... im not a glock expert maybe im missing something
@mattskic61 gflocks dont have an extrenal safety, and it depends on the person some guys are faster with 1911s with a safety than guys with guns and no safeties, its situational
I'll confess that I don't own a Glock, but I have fired them a few times and I thought the whole point of a Glock was that there was a firing pin block which would prevent accidental discharge from a drop. Obviously, I'm missing something you Glock-heads understand. Please give me some guidance.
I cant believe you dropped that pretty gun on the concrete. You should be reported to the gun abuse people.. Just kidding. I prefer the 26 for carry. I used Williams fire sights on mine. Good video.
@RoastPartyTime That's an Iron Cross, not a National Socialist symbol. It's been a German military medal since the Prussian Empire, long before the Nazis came to be. The Nazis continued to use the Iron Cross but it's not a Nazi symbol, as in the Nazis also used a lot of eagles but that doesn't mean the American quarter has Nazi sysmbols on it, right?
it's absolutely ridiculous that you had to do this just because of all the kids that feel the need to antagonize and criticize every video they watch. they purposely comment hoping to create controversy. they argue for the sake of stupidity and out of sheer boredom. there's really no need to feed their manipulation. you should discount their comments, and leave them to bicker among themselves. you were uncomfortable dropping you gun on the concrete and now your worse off because of the damage.
One of the criteria that the Austrian gov't directed for choosing a new pistol for military use was that the gun would have to be able to be dropped from a height of 2 meters onto a solid steel plate without the weapon discharging even once. The Glock WAS selected for use by the Austrian Army so the Glock HAS to have passed that test in order to even be considered, let alone chosen. Just some food for thought.
@tchapman1977 Yes but. The stock glock doesnt have a trigger that raises the firing pin block partially out of the way in order to take up the slack. You could drop a glock from alot more than 2 meters on the muzzle and the firing pin cannot make contact with the bullet primer. Ive never seen a trigger like this but if it raises the block in taking up the slack it could be a not so hot idea. If it doesnt contact the firing block plunger and still takes up the slack..well thats interesting!
well, the plus two base plate changes the variable, you should redo the test with no plus two base plate. just kidding, I wouldnt be suprised if some idiot hasnt said that before. thanks for the test, you put your gun in harms way so we dont have to.
@masonrox2547 well im not sure becuse i have never used or held a real gun but i do have airsoft guns and from all the videos, reviews, movies and things like that i've seen gas blowback pistols work fairly similar. obviously the wight would be different. but again im not sure bcause i dont have any real guns
The only way to really test it is dropping from 10 feet with a round in the chamber, fully loaded, and in the sand or maybe in a saltwater marsh (how's that for a youtube sacrifice?) ;)
looks like it knocked the rear sight to the right pretty good. ouchy. this was painful to watch just because you are dropping it straight on the concrete. couldn't you have put a thin rug or something over it.
@Rigge1988 how cna I possible test that? the onyl effect a bullety in the chamber would do is add the weight of an extra bullet, in this test I added 2 extra than normal so I ahve more weight in thatn a normal glock 17 in conition 1...you dont need a bullet in the chamber to know if the trigger went off...

I have always been a stock Glock site guy. I see the white at night pretty well too believe it or not without any inserts. I like the Heinie 8s on my 1911s.
poor gun, gets first dropped in the mud and then on concrete, all for safety's sake... but I think it's safe. ;-) You proved your point the best you could. Also, guns ARE dangerous. Like cars. So some ppl should take it easy I think. Or just dont cock the gun.
I wouldnt worry about falling safety, hoever i would be very careful with holstering - a kink of t shirtt can make it go off. If its light like 1911, there should be some additional safery.
WOW! what I would do is put down a (mouse pad) and then just hit it from the back.. now as for the amo I had a 1000 pound come down on it and nothing happed but the bullet got allot smaller
I dropped mine on a tile the front hit the ground and it was loaded and one in the chamber . nothing happened the tile did crack lol

poor gun, gets first dropped in the mud and then on concrete, all for safety's sake... but I think it's safe. ;-) You proved your point the best you could. Also, guns ARE dangerous. Like cars. So some ppl should take it easy I think. Or just dont cock the gun.

have you seen the vidya of MegaGewehr wiping out on his scooter and his glock slides across the concrete?!?

Hmm, couldn't you have put a towel down to prevent abrasion? It would be just as hard as concrete.

I wouldnt worry about falling safety, hoever i would be very careful with holstering - a kink of t shirtt can make it go off. If its light like 1911, there should be some additional safery.
