M4A1 carbines (Australian designation M4A5) They use the M4 because of its modular capabilities. The cams are DDPCU (Desert Disruptive Camouflage Uniform)

SASR is not a commando unit though they are trained to use commando force tactics eg; Sabotage, Direct Action, Reconaissance etc etc.

As a footnote 1 SFOD-D do not use rebound body armour for a majority of theyre missions.

SASR are a secret comando squad and cant be identified.This is for there safty as some could be on a operation at the time.Other units wont get used for undercover type operations.Therfore they have the Aussie flag patch and are used in front line ect operations

Were do you get this shit from? SASR squad do not have a patch. They cant and it has nothing to do with being proud or not. This is a secret service squad and when behind lines there should be nothing that can be identified. The only info that can be known is name and rank if you have to undergo interrogation.
An SASR team do privet undercover missions that should not be seen by the public.Other units do not so the patch can be worn,a SASR members face is never to be identified as they could be on a opperation.

M2 browing .50 cal is 12.7mmx99mm. the Brarret M107 fires the .50 BMG = 12.7mmx138mm. i no the Russians do use the 14.5 cal round for some weapon systems. but the KORD is 12.7mmx108mm. the 12.7 is the diameter of the shell and the next numbers are the length of the shell. im not being patronizing btw. but i just broke is down into. hope it helped. =)

Depends on what weapons systems they specialise in mate, from personal experience they have a wide variety of weapons and attachements for those weapons. Dispite what you hear and see the Commandos are the aussie equivelant to the US Navy SEALs and the SASR are almost peerless in their training. Lets put it this way if your on the other end of the gun you WONT be telling anyone you saw them. Im dropping info ive read seen first hand or heard from other soldiers.

LOL you have already been told SAS basically use whatever they want. Within reason. I dont think you will be able to get some obscure weapon just coz you like the look of it.
Since M4 (or variants) is the best gun there is basically, has all the attachments, and is already in use in the ADF ide say you would need some very good reasons to get anything else.
And if your a regular riflemen you would be using Aug.
They can only use the M4. Ts is better suited for the situations Commandos face, and F88's are found to be a bit awkward to reload and have a sluggish trigger. M4's are prone to blockages, but there are a few quick techniques to use to remove the blockage

Were do you get this shit from? SASR squad do not have a patch. They cant and it has nothing to do with being proud or not. This is a secret service squad and when behind lines there should be nothing that can be identified. The only info that can be known is name and rank if you have to undergo interrogation.

An SASR team do privet undercover missions that should not be seen by the public.Other units do not so the patch can be worn,a SASR members face is never to be identified as they could be on a opperation.

You probably already know all this but you will undergo all the same training as army infantry and the officers go to duntroon for 18 months with the army so they are very much equals in job roles. air force gap year completely different. you do rookies and officer training then bum around at a unit, but it's heaps good in that you have alot of gap year specific shit you can do, everyone gets lots of career advice

@AusSnipe yere that would be my dyslexia. Ok the 12.7mmx99mm is the .50 caliber round. the .50BMG is 12.7mmx138mm. M2 browing .50 cal is 12.7mmx99mm. the Brarret M107 fires the .50 BMG = 12.7mmx138mm. i no the Russians do use the 14.5 cal round for some weapon systems. but the KORD is 12.7mmx108mm. the 12.7 is the diameter of the shell and the next numbers are the length of the shell. im not being patronizing btw. but i just broke is down into. hope it helped. =)

@SkullKing11841 Yeah I understand I am an avid and experienced shooter but I just place the .50 cal as .50 BMG round by default as thats the .50 I used. Thats what I was saying it was my mistake in confusing what you meant I termed the .50 BMG in the stead of the KORD as most Russian heavy machine guns I have experience with were 14.5. My bad :)

ive just applied to enlist as a commando direct entry to special forces... the training is apparently hell!... i cant wait!!
im currently training my ass off going for runs every other day, training with weights and swimming as well.. i just hope my body doesnt let me down.. because i know my mind wont....
i have so much respect for anyone and everyone that makes it through Kapooka let alone commando and special forces training...

As for me writing up who and what I did doesnt bother me nor do I bear the burden of OPSEC on my former unit and job. Depends on what weapons systems they specialise in mate, from personal experience they have a wide variety of weapons and attachements for those weapons. Dispite what you hear and see the Commandos are the aussie equivelant to the US Navy SEALs and the SASR are almost peerless in their training. Lets put it this way if your on the other end of the gun you WONT be telling anyone you saw them. Im dropping info ive read seen first hand or heard from other soldiers.

LOL you have already been told SAS basically use whatever they want. Within reason. I dont think you will be able to get some obscure weapon just coz you like the look of it.
Since M4 (or variants) is the best gun there is basically, has all the attachments, and is already in use in the ADF ide say you would need some very good reasons to get anything else.
And if your a regular riflemen you would be using Aug.

They can only use the M4. Ts is better suited for the situations Commandos face, and F88's are found to be a bit awkward to reload and have a sluggish trigger. M4's are prone to blockages, but there are a few quick techniques to use to remove the blockage
