I love all ELO songs, but this is one from their best.As organizer ELO Fan Meetings in Poland i would like to invite all of U to Poland .THIS SUMMER WE WIILL MEET ON IX ELO FAN MEETING.SO.WELCOME TO POLAND . Regards,WIESLAW NASTAROWICZ :)
"I wish I was back in 1981...just to see your face instead of this place, now I know what you mean to me." I can relate to those lyrics sometimes. Those were special times.
Fantastic album. I went to see ELO at Wembley Arena in 1981; The Time Tour. The robot moving accross the stage during the Prologue, Mick Kiminski doing a violin solo the band doing a tribute to the late John Lennon who had died the previous December. I can't believe that it was all over 30 years ago now. What memories!!!
@riemudj I think you're wrong. Have you ever returned to an old neighbourhood after being away for a long time? If you have, this song would make sense to you. It fits in excellently with the overall theme of the album.
great comments from the younger generation, especially basievs 2 weeks ago. i am the ultimate elo fan and although i have many fav songs and albums, "time" is a classic and deserved its number one slot in the charts. this single is so amazing and means so much to me
I was a kid when this album come out...and my older brothers got it...i loved it then and still love it now....So much better than all the crap that's in the charts now! I'm a metal head and also into alot of electronic music, but ELO are still one of my favourites....
This is the one song that i can not get enough of, through the years i never heard another song that could capture my attention in the same fasion. I have not got the vocabulary or ability to praise the writer, singer, and this is my special favourite song ever.
this was on my record player the night my house burnt down,it was the only LP that was destroyed out of hundreds in the heat of the fire now how do you explain that ???
well here i am in the future and I thought the world be all ELO and shit. well, i was wrong, the world isnt near as coool as i imagined it would be listening to this timeless music back in the 80's when i was a kid :(
My father played with ELO in the Toledo Symphony a couple times. What a band. They were true musicians, not like the kinda crap that's played on the radio these days! I love this. I'm sure it will stay in all our hearts for years to come, maybe even our children will listen to it.
I'm with you, Wind.. first I HAVE to get my kids away from the TV, which is designed to squash creativity and imagination, and get them reading more, and LISTENING to REAL music from great musicians like Jeff Lynne and ELO. Thanks to Macgyver for posting this album. What memories; I was 21 when Time was released, Very underrated!!!!
im 13 and i love this sort of stuff. muhc better than thAT "music" they put on the radio nowadays. you cant even hear what they are saying, but on this you can hear every word :)
Oh my gosh, so true. They were playing a radio station at work yesterday dedicated to all Hip Hop and R&B, every song sounded pretty much the same. Repeating words, repeating the same few notes over and over, synthesized sounds and the lyrics Lol. Some of the dumbest I've ever heard. Like "I'm so fly" and "I'm so hard". Lmao. Who knows what half of those phrases even mean. I wish people from the US would speak ENGLISH! The language of ghetto is not an option, because it's not an actual language.
I've loved this song for (omg) decades! I always thought, even as a little kid, that the first 8 seconds reminded me of Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz, stepping out of her house after it landed out of the cyclone LOL

For anyone of you who don't "get" this song, or think it's misplaced on this album.... Obviously, you don't get "TIME"... does that make sense?

Maybe it fit with lyrics, but i meant rather musical way,it not fit.

such a great shame this song flopped as a single. it really stands up alongside their big hits even though it was'nt one, brilliant song.

My favorite ELO song!! I graduaded from high school in 1981,
Every time I hear this song and the lyric "I wish I was back in 1981"
I get choked up because things were so simple and carefree.
I miss the late 70's and early 80's :(
