@EllliotJackRussel3 I enjoy Peroni ... on tap, kind of similar to Heineken, and Stella Artois. These are all macro brews, not anywhere close to the quality of micro brews. But Peroni is a nice crisp , refreshing beer once in awhile. It's another green glass beer though so must be on tap.
@Kiratsuchii Easy boy. Looks like you're the only "nazi" here. Well, at least, I am not. I am totally loyal to our constitution. It's not about killing jews or anything - Germany is the place where everybody knows how to drink beer. It's a part of our culture to drink beer out of a glass cup. Seems like you're living in the wrong time - "nazi" shit is gone. Except for some ignorant rednecks that have never heard anything about foreign culture, not even about the countries they are invading.
For all the people who find it necessary to make hateful comments let me say that Heineken is one beer I occasionally drink. The mini keg allows you to get a nice crisp draft that Heineken in green bottles does not provide. My video is not meant to be a tutorial on proper glassware, nor am I promoting Heineken as the greatest beer.I would personally rate it a C+ / B- beer. I drink many other beers that I enjoy more. In fact I brew my own as well and keg to 5 Gallon Cornelius kegs. Cheers!
@ShrinerMcbitey do you think i should try the mini keg? I liked it sort of in the glass but now like sam adams over heinekin. Id just like to have a drink thats easy to swallow and gets ya drunk!...or tipsy at least :)
wash your glass out with tap water just before pouring and then angle the glass - that's how they do it in the pubs and that's how I get it to work perfectly everytime!
I normally drink Heineken, so when I saw these Draughtkegs at the local supermarket I had to get one. The system works great. However I detected a metallic flavorto the beer that was not present in the bottles (or cans). Has anyone else noticed this?
@AtibbsSPARTAN Oberon is available in a mini ( 5L) keg, but sadly it is the gravity style - basically open and drink immediately. The Heineken keg system contains a CO2 canister that keeps it carbonated for several weeks. See link to forbes article in expanded video description above.
@rhys2040 that's too bad. it took me about a dozen of them to get them to pour perfect. initially the big issue was letting it rest for about 10 hours before pouring and also keeping it in one place stationary.
@ShrinerMcbitey Yea, I don't understand why people don't realize its like a huge can of soda. Don't shake it, or you'll get foam! The only thing wrong with it is them. lol

@IfLustIsTrust Thanks for your opinion. I drink many beers. Heineken is just one. Hovere I feel in the last ten years some of the very best beers are now from US microbrews such as Rogue brewery, Dogfish brewing, Victory brewing, and so on. As for Belgian they are not to my taste in general. i find them to be too "alcohol" dominated. Duvel is ok.
aaaaah, Well i'm belgian and i say That belgian beer's got more flavour in it but that's personal preference man, but if you like duvel you got to try Leffe. Have you ever tried jupiler?
@IfLustIsTrust Life is filled with many good beers. I will try the beers you mentioned. I suggest you try some of the American craft brews. I do not drink any of the macro brews ( Bud, Miller, Coors, etc) all crap. But some of the US micro brews are truly outstanding.
@cowboy820 5liters = 169 ounces or 14 - 12 ounce beers. It's a quality proposition though not a quantity proposition. In other words its about taste. A regular 12 pack would be cheaper and not taste nearly as good. The keg is recyclable steel.
@cowboy820 Agreed. I tried the miller lite and the plastic is pretty pathetic to start and then it is filled with tasteless domestic corn filled macro brew. I really wish more of the better beers had the Heineken system. Radeberger in a Heineken style mini keg mmmmmmm or Dogfish IPA. that would be sweet.
@ShrinerMcbitey ya i love miller lite, good thing u told me that now im not even gonna waste my time an get 1, but may check out the heinekin, even thow i only drank it once or twice lol. long as its not coors lite an corona im good, lol
@ShrinerMcbitey Hey serious question: do you think its possible to hook up a camel-back hose to that spout and maybe jerry rig it for continuous flow from the hose if desired?
@CheckThisOutFoo I actually use the Beertender now but with both the provided plastic tap and the Beertender tap you can "leave the spigot open". Much easier on the Beertender. So I suppose it's possible. I would mention the mini kegs do not like to move around too much so being in a backpack may make for a lot of foam. Good luck!
@athiestsshallburn You can drink it but in my opinion it wont taste very good warm. I like it at 36 degrees best. It can also be foamy if it has not settled for awhile. Good luck!
@cl0wner A pretty "High school" type comment. There are lots of good beers. Some days maybe I want an Old Rasputin stout or a Dogfish IPA, other I might enjoy a cold Heineken.
.... use a propper ice cold heineken glass for that, and you need 2 fingers of foam on top, just a tip to make that delicious dutch lager taste even better!
@MrL3nn I actually have the beertender machine for the minikeg now. I also generally use the 8 oz Heineken glasses which are great to down quick. That being said I will drink it from a coffee cup if need be. Cheers!
@megadeth2thenwo I have tried the New NewCastle 5L ( heineken technology) mini keg. Not a huge Newcastle fan. Would have rather seen them roll out Murphy's Irsih stout, a brand they own that is eleigible for the Heineken mini keg technology. I have also tried the new miller / coors pressurized mini kegs. Work quite well, but the beers ( coors light and miller lite) are pretty weak on flavor.
i have a new castle draught keg right now, but its all head. my only complaint is that you didn't do a side view. aside from that, heineken is a good beer and kudos on the decor
@dlucci619 I tried the Necastle myself, not bad but would have rather they chose Murphys stout for the second beer to get the mini keg treatment. Anyway in regards to your foam issue. I have found these things really like to be stationary for 10 hrs, preferably overnight before pouring. Once you do that it should just be a matter of tilting the glass into the pour ( pour onto the inside galss edge). A little practice helps.
@dlucci619 Thanks dlucci. These things take practice. I have gone through many many many mini kegs at this poiny. I have used the Beertender dispenser system for the past couple years.
@MKRM27 You should really read the Forbes article ( search forbes heineken mini keg) a lot of design and technology did go into the Heineken system, This is not a 5liter with a pull spigot at the bottom. On another note I recently tried the new Miller Lite(Coors lite also available) keg with co2 insert. The keg worked quite well with little excessive foam. The down side, it's plastic, and filled with tasteless domestic light beer.
@ShrinerMcbitey i read the forbes article back in 2007. i was working in an r&d role in the brewing industry in 2005, when heineken launched their unit in europe. it is just a large can, that does not match draught quality dispense. don't believe all you read in pr articles - how naive are you? ps. It is Coors LIGHT, and it not a keg, it is called Home Draft. Why is plastic bad?
How naive am I? My comments are based on my experience with the mini keg not from a Forbes article you turd. For the record the product is revolutionary. Only the Guinness draught insert precedes it and of course on a smaller scale. Any way who cares about your negative unsolicited input? You obviously dont know anything if you think plastic is a suitable vessel for any drink plus your mom thinks you are a jerk.
You are correct, definitely not the perfect pour, needs more head. The head is actually to protect the beer from air though. Check out the cool article on the mini kegs developement from Frobes, link in the video description (more info)
Recommend it as long as you can leave it chilled in the fridge for at least 10 hours or buy it cold and make sure you move it very little in transport. Tap Heineken tastes way better than bottles or cans.
Original posts go over this but in short try and place it in the fridge for a night before tapping. When pouring tilt he glass into the tap and pour into the sid eof the glass slowly straigthening the glass as it fills. You will ge the hang of it in time.
And that means what to me ???? Absolutely nothing!!!!..........bcuz i live in the west indies and i ain't got a US greencard or visa............BUT SURE WISH I DID, those things are "DAMN NEAR" hard to come by !
Sorry to hear that monkey.. You should generally buy these cold... take care not to move them around too much and let them sit stationary as long as you can before tapping. After that you just need to pour into the side of the glass,. Just like you would pour from a real tap. Don't give up on them as they are quite delicious when poured proper.
I was going to buy one today but did not know if you were able to get all the beer out..lol and here in Mexico it cost 249 pesos about 20 bucks so i just got a six pack instead , but tomorrow ill go and get one and put it on my mini fridge and ill even play some THE CURE!!! Greetings from Mexico
Flash cooling it in the freezer reduced the settling time significantly. I was up and running in 3 hours with no excessive head after. Just make sure not freeze it and take the tap off while it is cooling or it may get beer frozen in the tubes. If you forget, remove it and thaw it using warm water.
Lol I should have bought bottles, the settling time is ridiculous 10 hours? The first glass was all head. I threw mine in the freezer to flash cool it. Get the bottles to drink for the night and one of these to try another day.
Does anyone ever have a problem with the co2 leaking out? I've poured 1 glass the other day and it was fine but today I got 1/2 a glass and it stopped. This thing is almost full and frosty and I'm ready to pull out the can opener.
depoty, thanks for your input. Glad you are enjoying a cold one. Tell me, can you still get Watney's cream stout? I have not seen it in decades here in the states.

Defining Heineken as a "beer" should be illegal.

Thanks I actually just got the 8 oz Heineken glasses. they work well and keep the pour cold all the way down. God bless the beertender!

Flash cooling it in the freezer reduced the settling time significantly. I was up and running in 3 hours with no excessive head after. Just make sure not freeze it and take the tap off while it is cooling or it may get beer frozen in the tubes. If you forget, remove it and thaw it using warm water.
markjurrens 2 years ago
Lol I should have bought bottles, the settling time is ridiculous 10 hours? The first glass was all head. I threw mine in the freezer to flash cool it. Get the bottles to drink for the night and one of these to try another day.
markjurrens 2 years ago
I have made that very suggestuion to friends trying it fo rthe first time, grab a 6 or 12 pack to drink till the mini keg is ready for use.

Does anyone ever have a problem with the co2 leaking out? I've poured 1 glass the other day and it was fine but today I got 1/2 a glass and it stopped. This thing is almost full and frosty and I'm ready to pull out the can opener.
KruBruder 2 years ago
we had. so we had to open it...check my profile, there's a video how we did it...: )
teglaalatt 2 years ago
If I can just add that 5 Litres is just under 9 pints ! 8.8 pints to be exact.
So in the UK, its £1.56 a pint @ £14.00 per keg !
ps, the first pour will be foamy as the initial gas build up escapes.
So..
1. First pour a cup full amount into a glass
2. Then let the keg settle for 5 minutes
3. Pour a great pint with 1 inch head on !

depoty, thanks for your input. Glad you are enjoying a cold one. Tell me, can you still get Watney's cream stout? I have not seen it in decades here in the states.
ShrinerMcbitey 2 years ago
Watneys sold out years ago late 80s..shame really.
remember...
"avin a party...take ome a watneys !
another one was "Beer at home...Davenports...cheers"
Maccies or Mackesons stout is still going though..still in those little black cans too !
