@MissEmziWemzie same-it's a really good book. i wish they kept it as close to the book as he could. they even changed clarissa's name to claire-stupid.
In the book he doesn't pray with Jed. He flatly points out he's not religious. Why did they feel the need to make him pray in the film?? Other than that, good film :)
This film was very graphic... the part where you see the fallen balloonist's insides that have come out of his body due to the impact of the fall is sickening, absolutely sickening. Too graphic for my taste.
Listen, people making comparisons between the sodding book and the film, you have a choice its called an "OFF" button on your DVD player.
If you dont like the film, dont watch it, cannot stand people who have watched a film and then seek out clips of it on youtube just so they can bitch about it.
its a very good film with top notch acting from all concerned, 10/10
@TheUniteAndFight larrryd's right, we just read it for A-Level, they are married, but Clarissa can't have kids because of an accident during surgery years before.
@flo123456 I thought that the main thing the film captured with the excruciating atmosphere of the novel. I didn't mind about the plot being changed, but it kept the intensity and tenseness of the book.
This may be my favorite Dan Craig movie too. He's so fearless and natural in this role. Really weird movie. Rhys Ifans was also great. Real creepy. Hard to find on DVD tho.

I finished reading the book only yesterday. From what I've seen of this film, it seems they've got so much of it so very wrong.

Is it just me, or is the main female character's name changed? I swear its Clarissa in the book, not Claire.
Elphie31 1 year ago 2
@Elphie31 it is! It really annoys me when they change things like that... in the book they're married as well.

If I ever become a director I'm remaking this film again.I don't like this version, it has some good parts but it mostly fails.

Terrible adaptation, they really got it all wrong. It's a very depressing version of the story.

@ToxicTurquoise454 they got the character of Joe completely wrong, if you ask me. It's a good film, just not a good adaption

One of the things I think the film really captured from the book was the tenderness between clarissa and joe, it's so sweet.
