No this never happend. When Tobe Hooper direceted the original TCM he took inspiration from a Wisconsin serial killer named Ed Gein. Look up Ed Gein on wikipedia and read about him also read about TCM on wikipeida as well.

I live in Texas and as a kid I used to hear all these stories about how this happened just outside of Wichita Falls, Texas and that Leatherface and his family where never caught. LOL

It's not that far-fetched. Why wouldn't it be possible for a chainsaw to go through a car seat and a body? The only thing I even question is the fact that there was enough room for LF and his chainsaw to be pulled back and put through the seat. Other than that, I don't give a rip. It's a bad ass movie, and this is one epic ending.
